Stargate Invasion is a total conversion mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment and Diplomacy . As of this time, there is no FINAL release date yet for this mod.

The mod will be built in 2 halves.  The first is the Pegasus side, I.E. Humans, Wraith and Asurans, with the Pirates being a classified race at the moment.  The second part of the mod, will add in the Asgard and Goa'uld races to the mix, we will even be creating a separate version of the mod as well, which will just be Humans, Asgard and Goa'uld, with the Lucien Alliance as the Pirates for that half.

Hey, just wondering because it was my favorite ship: Will the BC-303 (X-303; Prometheus) be included in the mod?
Also adding to that i reckon a hole in the belly of the ship reminiscient of Wraith feeders in their hands.

Yes it will be included, it is in the shiplist on our fourms. She will be one of the few first available for building

well everyone I have finished texturing the Puddle Jumper, here are the max renders. I even added in the Drone door to the mix. tell me what you think.

And here she is ingame, even gave her some drones to fire, but might have to give her smaller ones.

:CONGRAT: looks freakin sweet....so is the X-302 going to be the fighter and the puddle jumper the bomber?
Technically speaking, the Tau'ri fighter is no longer the X-302. It's technically the F-302 now. There was really only one X-302, the prototype. Once they reviewed performance and smoothed out the kinks, it went into production as the F-302. The X-303 became the BC-303, even if it never actually went into production, and the X-304 became the DSC-304.

Eo, VERY cool designs. Very awesome.
but we still dont know if the puddle jumper is gonna be a fighter or bomber
Reply #309 Top
Jumpers are fighters/Bombers for the Asurans, the Tau'ri will not be getting the Jumper, atleast that is the plan for the moment. Tau'ri have the F-302 for fighters/bombers, until I create a bomber for them, which then will have the same weapons just a stronger version of the 302's weapons.

A question from a guy whos never seen anything Stargate (except the 80's movie).
The humans are the Tau'ri. (Got this from this thread.)
We would never, ever, call ourselves something that stupid, unless we suddenly had the urge to completely change the name of species, as well as going stupider than we are now.
So....
Are humans actually obeying the whims of alien species by using that name?
That just makes me go WTF? if we are.
I mean, humans are some of the most arrogant, self-centered bastards ever, and I really doubt we would let aliens name our race. It would be more like "You call us the Tau'ri, well we are Humanity, and you WILL call us as such."

Unless I'm completely wrong and there is actually a good reason for the name change, besides it being what everyone else calls us (that's not a good reason at all).

If there is a good f**king reason for it, tell me so I can learn.

Oh and I'm only here because I like mods. Not because I'm a Stargate know-it-all-slash-addict.

Other race call humans the Tau'ri because earth was the planet where all human live in the galaxy originated and its some kind of ancient name for humans.
when sg-1 goes on missons to other planets they dont say we r the people from earth because noone know where that is couse earth is the name we gave to the planet but most people would know who the the tau'ri are beacuse 1. it is the planet where all human live started from in the milkyway galaxy n 2. couse they where the first to rise up againt the false gods

First off, please try to keep your ranting to a minimum, I dont want to have to sick Lord Set on you, lol. Now to the real business. Humans are called the Tau'ri because Humans in the galaxy were taken from our planet, as this is where we evolved from. Now, Tau'ri is the Goa'uld term for Human, I dont remember off the top of my head what we were referred to by the Alterans, all I know is earth is refered to Tera Atlantus, or so Jack Oniell says in The Lost City part 2. As stated SG-1 and all other SG teams refer to themselves as the Tau'ri as most if not all the human populations throughout the galaxy know the term.
Yeah sorry about the ranting. I have a tendency to do that, even when I'm not angry. And not knowing things can make me angry. Like why we call ourselves the Tau'ri.

However, calling ourselves the Tau'ri so people can know they pissed off humanity and won't live long to regret it is an excellent reason. Really. It is. Tends to reduce the number of would-be enemies, which is good because less people are trying to kill us.

This mod is based on the Stargate Universe as laid out by the writers in over a decade of episodes. Story elements from the 1994 movie were largely rewritten to suit a television series. I think you'll find most fans won't even consider agreeing to your ideas of what is right and wrong in the Stargate Universe without at least watching a few seasons of the series.

I understand that your just looking for good mods but you should understand that the story and fan base is what drives mods based on an already existing and developed universe. The zealots/fans come with the territory and don't take kindly to people challenging their views. You might as well have told the author of a Star Wars mod that the "Rebel Alliance" is a stupid name because it's just the widely accepted name for the group as opposed to the real name "Alliance to Restore the Republic". Anyway allow me to begin my counter-rant, I'll try to be somewhat civil about it. :)

From your post it seems your suggesting the idea of the space faring humans adopting an alien name for themselves to be a ridiculous idea in general. Firstly let me clarify that Tau'ri is not a name for the human species, it's a name specifically for humans from the "first world" or Earth. The Milky Way galaxy in the Stargate Universe is full of human inhabited worlds, identifying your self as humanity means nothing as humans are everywhere. Worse some aliens may misinterpret your desire to be referred to as humanity to signify that you represent all of the humans in the galaxy as opposed to just one planet.

Referring to ourselves as Earthlings or saying we are from Earth also gets us nowhere. I believe there's a scene at the start of season 1 where Teal'c demands to know where SG-1 are from. Jack says they're from Earth and this means nothing to Teal'c. Daniel draws the point of origin symbol for Earth in the dirt and Teal'c instantly makes the connection that SG-1 are the people that he knows as the Tau'ri. Knowing that SG-1 is from the planet where a legendary uprising against the Goa'uld took place meant a lot more to him than just being just another bunch of humans. In a way Tau'ri is just an ancient word meaning Earthlings, we might as well identify ourselves with a name that the whole galaxy knows as opposed to stressing that we're Earthlings everywhere we go. We've been known as the Tau'ri for millennia yet only had a global identity as "Humanity" or "Earthlings" in the last few hundred years.

It's not like they renamed the species or anything. Tau'ri is just used for the sake of convenience and cultural understanding. I would liken it to how many indigenous people of Earth have their own name to refer to Europeans or how us English speaking folk don't refer to Germans as Deutsche. It's often inconvenient, confusing or even insulting to use your own languages' name to identify a group of people when you are in the company of foreigners. Another example of this in the Stargate Universe is how the people of the Asgard protected Norse worlds refuse to refer to Earth as anything other than "Midgard".

In the Stargate Universe the local politics of humanity really doesn't matter all that much. The plot is driven by what the "Tau'ri" are doing out in the galaxy as opposed to what "Humanity" is doing. For this reason I believe "Tau'ri" has become the accepted word to refer to Earthlings by the writers and the fans.

Finishing my counter-rant I would suggest that given the initial Pegasus Galaxy focus of this mod that Tau'ri might not be the best word to describe the Earthlings. The Earthlings in the Pegasus Galaxy seem to refer to themselves as the "Atlantis Expedition". The Wraith and the indigenous people often refer to them as the "Atlanteans" which can get confusing as Atlantean/Lantean is often also used to refer to the Ancients.

Although not necessarily the correct word I guess Tau'ri would have to be the best word to describe all of the Earthlings in the Stargate Universe and it is instantly recognized and accepted by any fan even if they're only seen a season or two.

Well, thanks for the counter-rant. Its very informative and reminds me of my complete ignorance of the Stargate universe. If I am playing this mod, which I will be, I will need to know more and to that end I will attempt to watch as much Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis as I can before this comes out. I hope my mind does not break from all of it. I didn't watch it at first because I thought it was a crappy Sci-Fi B-series. However, BSG changed my opinion of the Sci-Fi channel for the better. And yes, I will be playing the BSG mod as well. Fortunately, I've seen every BSG episode so far, so I'm not in the dark like I am here.

End rant of humiliating admission of ignorance.

Well that was off topic....
Anyway quick question- after the Tau'ri what race are you focus your work on (Derbal213, Eomega)?

lol nice essay discussion ...

--bloodfang99 while I cant really speak for everyone but as far I know no particular faction has been concentrated on, bits from each faction are being done at the same time however, with that said the Asuran side is the most complete faction in terms of modelling so far.

and once again lol the Stargate Invasion mod is split up in to two parts
the Pegasus side tauri / Asurans / Wraith and
the milky way (side free jaffa / lucian alliance maybe the goa`uld and just maybe the Asgard as a full faction )

and to all those who like the Asgard lol

The Asgard will be in the Pegasus side of the SGI mod BUT only as a sub faction and only then you must find a Asgard space station Valhalla in order to gain access to the Asgard ships (The Beliskner, O’Neill and Daniel Jackson class ships)

I was going to post screen shots of some more Asuran space stations and the Asgard Valhalla space station + the Asgard ships but that will wait till later on this week, since the Valhalla is having its final touches added to it and iam being lazy today lol

wow thats cool about the asgard in the Pegasus side. i wasnt aware that could be done.

Yeah, nothing would make me happier than being able to command a fleet of Goa`uld Hatak mothersships against the insolent Tauri home world :D

As far as coding goes, we have sort of combined forces with Dolynick and his Stargate Ancients mod. And since he has the Ancients nearly completely done, it will be relatively easy for him to reverse engineer that research/ships/etc. into the Asurans. With a few minor changes, the Asurans will probably be one of the first done. Dolynick is currently working on coding the Wraith side of the mod. With Dolynick doing all of the coding, it has allowed me to focus more on the particle effects and such.

-Lots of new explosion effects and textures.
End of quote

-New explosion system.
End of quote

-Upped the max number of persistent damage effects.
End of quote

And with SINS 1.1 right around the corner, I have decided to wait until post 1.1 to make any more significant changes to the particle effects. The Devs have announced they will be releasing a new explosion system with new explosion textures. They have also said that 1.1 will include some new textures. These will hopefully make it easier for me to get the right effects without having to make custom textures. All of the changes from 1.1 will hopefully allow me to make the game look even better.

Yeh, the Asurans are going to be the first race done it looks like... I am currently out of town with my girlfriend, but had enough time to find a little internet cafe to get on here and post. As loki stated, him and myself have been focusing on the Asurans, not sure why, but they seem to be the easiest to build ships for. Vahalla station can be found on Scifi-meshes.com, and it is going to be incorporated into the mod, but you will have to wait and see just how it will be. Derbal has an excellent point about 1.1 and particle files, we will be holding off until that update comes out for continued editing. Im attempting to find a nice little tutorial on how to make a mesh semi-transparent for Sins so that I can complete the Atlantis Shield and fix up the drone a little. Vahalla is top priority for me at the moment, only because I love the station and I want to get her fixed up and ready for gameplay... though Im still unsure how Im going to implement the station, as it is massive, even by sins standards. The team knows where they should focus their efforts till I get back tonight/tomorrow morning, and with that said the mod is coming along nicely. We just picked up another team member who is currently working on textures for the Asurans. Everyone have a good day, I hope to have a few updates for you when time permits.
