Stargate Invasion is a total conversion mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment and Diplomacy . As of this time, there is no FINAL release date yet for this mod.

  

 

The mod will be built in 2 halves.  The first is the Pegasus side, I.E. Humans, Wraith and Asurans, with the Pirates being a classified race at the moment.  The second part of the mod, will add in the Asgard and Goa'uld races to the mix, we will even be creating a separate version of the mod as well, which will just be Humans, Asgard and Goa'uld, with the Lucien Alliance as the Pirates for that half.

If you are making any Goa'uld ships, I am making a galaxy based on only the Goa'uld. Pick the Goa'uld you want to be and then conquer a neighboring Goa;uld planet and get his forces. Unfortunatley, I have no idea how to MOD and Particle FORGE won't work for me.

The only Goa'uld ships that will be in the mod wont show up till the second half of the mod is started, and even then they wont be Goa'uld, they will be Free Jaffa and Lucien Alliance. If you are willing to help out when we get to that stage with maps and such, you are more then welcome to join us.

Well, thanks for the counter-rant. Its very informative and reminds me of my complete ignorance of the Stargate universe. If I am playing this mod, which I will be, I will need to know more and to that end I will attempt to watch as much Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis as I can before this comes out. I hope my mind does not break from all of it. I didn't watch it at first because I thought it was a crappy Sci-Fi B-series. However, BSG changed my opinion of the Sci-Fi channel for the better. And yes, I will be playing the BSG mod as well. Fortunately, I've seen every BSG episode so far, so I'm not in the dark like I am here.End rant of humiliating admission of ignorance.

It's only ignorance if you refuse to read an opposing viewpoint or explanation. :) I think you will find that Stargate is a bit "softer" than most Sci-Fi, there's quite a lot of cheesy and ridiculous plot elements but that's kind of what makes Stargate stand out. It doesn't take itself too seriously. You could probably get away with just watching Stargate Atlantis as it will cover a lot of the ship/space travel related elements of the Stargate Universe. For the majority of Stargate SG-1 the humans don't have any serious space travel capabilities. Anyway back on topic:

Yeh, the Asurans are going to be the first race done it looks like... I am currently out of town with my girlfriend, but had enough time to find a little internet cafe to get on here and post. As loki stated, him and myself have been focusing on the Asurans, not sure why, but they seem to be the easiest to build ships for. Vahalla station can be found on Scifi-meshes.com, and it is going to be incorporated into the mod, but you will have to wait and see just how it will be. Derbal has an excellent point about 1.1 and particle files, we will be holding off until that update comes out for continued editing. Im attempting to find a nice little tutorial on how to make a mesh semi-transparent for Sins so that I can complete the Atlantis Shield and fix up the drone a little. Vahalla is top priority for me at the moment, only because I love the station and I want to get her fixed up and ready for gameplay... though Im still unsure how Im going to implement the station, as it is massive, even by sins standards. The team knows where they should focus their efforts till I get back tonight/tomorrow morning, and with that said the mod is coming along nicely. We just picked up another team member who is currently working on textures for the Asurans. Everyone have a good day, I hope to have a few updates for you when time permits.

It's good to hear that progress is being made. I just checked out the Valhalla Station mesh, it looks pretty good. I'm sure you'll be able to find some way to make it fit in with the Sins engine.

As far as coding goes, we have sort of combined forces with Dolynick and his Stargate Ancients mod. And since he has the Ancients nearly completely done, it will be relatively easy for him to reverse engineer that research/ships/etc. into the Asurans. With a few minor changes, the Asurans will probably be one of the first done. Dolynick is currently working on coding the Wraith side of the mod. With Dolynick doing all of the coding, it has allowed me to focus more on the particle effects and such.

I have been thinking that I'm going to release a 1.00 version of the Ancients soon as I think they're more or less done. I'm sure there could be some more stringwork done here and there that I've overlooked and there are probably some balance issues yet in regards vs the standard races - but mods like this are never truly "done" so I think it should be ready for a "finished" release. The Ancients mod has passed the dev mode tests and has had all resolvable issues addressed now.

I actually have a working Wraith vs Ancients mod that I've played in up and running now too, so the Wraith are coming along. They're basic tech tree is done and is just short of 80 entries at the moment, but is lacking fully fleshed out ship/ability researches yet. Ships are essentially where the majority of the remaining work needs to be done with the Wraith. I have a fleet for them but it felt a little flat when I played (I'm pretty sure I was still going to mop the floor with the Ancients though, as I had their "super weapon" research up and running and it was just going to be a formality of attrition after that). It was more just a matter of how the fleet felt and the usefulness of some of the ships.

I believe the next steps will be to confer with EO and the rest of the team as to some more specifics regarding the Wraith fleet as well as the Asurans (so I can remove/redesign what needs to be changed according to the existing project plans).

I have been preoccupied with other stuff though lately (real life and all, weee) but I'm hoping to be able to start making some more progess again soon.

Okay, I immensely respect your guys' work, and wish to provide what input I can.

Wraith -
- No shields
- High Hull
- Perhaps a 'Regeneration' ability, like the Vasari?
- 'Organic Technology' Research; increases hull regeneration and such?
- Blue/Green Fighter Trails
- Passive 'Cull' Ability, perhaps steals planetary income?
- 'Hybrid' Research? Maybe it increases certain aspects of ships, or increases max trainable level of capital ship crews?

Tau'ri -
- Perhaps a 'Capture' ability? They've flown Wraith Hive ships, Ancient Warhips, and Goa'uld Hatak vessels...why not? I don't quite know how this'd work, though.
- Access to Jumper and Atlantis Ship later on?
- Red/Orange Fighter trails
You've gotten these guys pretty well done.

Asurans -
- 'Ascension' research. The Asurans were trying to figure out how to ascend before the humans intervened, if I remember correctly. Maybe it could decrease hostile culture/increase friendly culture?
- Obviously the Lagrangian point satelite
- Yellow/Blue fighter trails?
- 'Programming' research? Maybe decreases stun time of Anti replicator weapons, or increases max trainable crew level
- Passive 'Assimilate' ability? Steals income from planet, perhaps?

asgard ships rock, will there be any voice acting done so when you give a ship orders you get a patronizing asguard reply?

this is, for the most part, what the wraith research will look like.

The Tau'ri will not be gaining access to the Jumpers or Atlantis, the reason for this is that I want the mod based on actual tech they have, not tech they are using. For instance, the Tau'ri never built Atlantis, or even a jumper. They just use the technology, and thus I feel that they shouldnt get a chance to 'build' it.


Asurans -

Ascension was the goal of only a few Asurans, for the most part they were just there, not building anything, not interfering with anyone, doing nothing but existing. The Lagrangia Satellite is going to be in the mod, we have a basic one right now, but as we progress we will get a better one. Programming might work, have to get with my coding guy and see what we can work in. The Assimilate ability, might not work... again have to talk to Derbal about this.

Currently the team is working on our own individual projects, I believe Loki is finishing up Asuran stuff, Derbal is doing some coding before he heads off for vacation, Lord Set and myself are working on textures for the Tau'ri, and I am attempting to fix the 304, but so far nothing is working... We have a texture guy who is hopefully working on the textures i assigned him, and we will try and give you an update as things progress.

Non of the Asgard stuff is "Set in stone" yet as the main factions are the priority i presume. The only reason why they are at the stage they are now is because i got bored with doing Asuran stuff only and wanted to do them

Hey you guys. I've been watching this thread for nearly a month now and just haven't posted... well I don't really know why. I'm an avid Stargate fan and also an avid SoaSE fan, so I'm extremely looking forward to this mod. So far all of the screenshots and such look amazing, and just gets me drooling over the ability to actually use these races in game.

I wish I could offer some services of sorts to you guys, because there's nothing more that I'd rather do than help you out however I can; but unfortunately I don't have any experience in modding and I'd prolly' just end up as a burden. However if you think of anything that I could do for the mod, please let me know; I'd welcome to opportunity with open arms.

On a side note I've been working on a banner for the mod for awhile, you don't have to use it if you don't wish to but it's just something I whipped up in Photoshop tonight since I didn't get a single wink of sleep. (Once I start a PS project I just have to finish it...) On a slight tangent, I am rather well acquainted with Photoshop if you need anything done from there, I'd be more than happy to help out. Anyways, here ya' go.

a quick side note for the voices - oddessy class ships should occasionaly say 'weapons to maximum' when ordered to move or phase jump (for all those who have seen the Ark of Truth)

A quick side note on the side note Prometheus, if you didn't know (You may have and here I am pointing out something you already know) the reason Colonel Mitchell says "Weapons to Maximum" was meant to be a joke from episode 200, when there was the cheesy Star Trek scene. I could go more into detail but that's my basic point, he was simply making a joke.

a combination of photographic memory and having seen every sg1 episode at least twice (ah bless you sky two) means i do know and thats why i brought it up, i think that joke should make it into the mod. thanks tho, ill edit that post so its slightly more clear.

Sounds good mate, if there's something you'd like changed or added to the banner it can be done pretty easily. I just figured I'd do one and I'm partial to the tech style banner/sigs and I felt like it would fit well with a render of the Deadalus, so I went for it. But if there's anything you want changed just lemme' know and I'd be happy to change it up for ya'.

This can indeed be done similar to the Embargo ability. I think I can also get it to affect population and culture also. We could possibly make this researchable for the Colonization Capital ship, so that the Asurans can send one with a little back up into a not-very well protected border planet and eventually take it over.

I also love the banner. A lot of TC's I've seen have been using the black/red-ish color scheme, so it's really nice to see a little variation. My only suggestion, and this purely personal, maybe change the 'A's in "Stargate Invasion" to the Earth Gate symbol.

just thought id say, my oppinion on the Asuran city ship is that as a city it wouldent have great hull intergrety or armour however those 3 ZPMs can generate an awfull lot of shield. thats all.

also just thought of sommin you could add in, unless its already occured to you, is a device for the tau'ri which is experimental technology to bring the entire planet out of phase for a short time, as in just long enough for a supporting fleet to arive.

Yea, Stargate SG-1 has the second A in Stargate replaced, while Stargate Atlantis has the second A in Atlantis replaced. So my thought was to either replace the Second A in both Stargate and Invasion or just replace the 'A' in Invasion, to follow the SGA Theme more.
