I've always thought the surveyors were the best ships, unless you stumble on an early Ranger. I like to build a second as well otherwise, and just let them auto-survey and pump themselves up...only pulling them out for emergency wars.

I love the game...the only thing that's annoying me so far is that Galactic Wonders are built more than once, when clearly one is supposed to unique, and not able to be built by anyone else. Today, I had an enemy build a wonder that I had built about 40 turns prior. Is this planned to be fixed soon, Brad? Cheers ~SDC~

Today I had two rival races both build the same wonder, albeit many turns apart...then while I was building a wonder, another race complete it, but I just left it and lo and behold I got the wonder too! A bug I presume?

I'm about to lose a game to that very thing....wasn't in a position to hurt them and they are running roughshod over everyone now. Ya, it's annoying, but I like it. If I could have got to them early it'd be a much different game...but if such a thing could never happen, it'd be one less interesting dynamic in the game, so it's still fun to me! ~SDC~

Occasionally I get the events happening (such as something found on system X has cause all planets withing 3 sectors to jump up in class, or something similar). However, I have no idea where that particular system is. Is there any way to search a name of a planet to find it? (I'm sure I've just overlooked it if it's there, but I can't find it.) Thanks ~SDC~

Hear hear. Just play the game. Sheesh, if you learn it and get really good at it, like I'm not, then you'll eventually figure out how to get those scores anyway, and have way more fun in the process. Cheers ~SDC~

I read somewhere on here that GalCiv was inspired by a boardgame. As a new GalCiv player, I'm already feeling the 'one more turn' syndrome that I have missed for so long in TBS gaming. So, here is my wish....one of my favourite all time board games was Circus Maximus. (For those who've never heard of it, it was a recreation of the Roman chariot races. I have always longed for a developer to make a computer TBS game based upon it. Yes, I know this is a fantasy...but if anyone

Hmmm...the thing that bothers me about this is the idea that map size should change the rules. If you were going to scale events around map size, then there's no point in having variable map sizes. The whole point of different sized maps is having to use different strategies, adapting to the environment you're playing in. Playing a small map means assuming the risks that those random events pose, while other events may have their impact lessened for the same reason.

Thing is, up here in Ontario Canada, it hasn't hit the shelves at all yet. That's pretty poor distribution. Most games are on the shelves here within a day of release.

I gave up on looking for it retail today and ordered online from EBGames. I'm a little disappointed I had to go that route, but I was tired of calling around to hear "Maybe in a week or so". Why use IG as a distributor if they're not going to distribute it?

Once bitten, twice shy, don't they say? Well, I have to hope not, because I waited and waited for seemingly ages for MoO3...and was so disappointed. I tried as hard as I could to like that game, but to no avail, and eventually dragged my beaten carcass back to Civ3 for my TBS fixes. I hope to pick up GalCiv tonight, or by the weekend at the latest, and maybe, just maybe, the hype this time will be more accurate. Please?
