Lack of retail

I gave up on looking for it retail today and ordered online from EBGames. I'm a little disappointed I had to go that route, but I was tired of calling around to hear "Maybe in a week or so".

Why use IG as a distributor if they're not going to distribute it?

I found 1 copy at a local GameStop, and it was on the bottom shelf too. I was lucky I found it.

The EB at my local mall in St. Louis county had a whopping 3, that's right, 3 copies. I got the 1st one. :D

With what I heard from Stardock about how many new registered owners of Galciv there were just yesterday (over 1000 on the first day), I would imagine it will be difficult for stores to keep Galciv on the shelves, and I think you can also expect some delay from online retail sources as well.

Thing is, up here in Ontario Canada, it hasn't hit the shelves at all yet. That's pretty poor distribution. Most games are on the shelves here within a day of release.

It is a little frustrating. It's just the nature of retail.

The "buy in" by most retailers was so low that it amounted to only a few units per store.

You know, there's just no demand for strategy games you know...

No luck in Boulder, Colorado. I hope the poor distribution/ordering doesn't hurt your sales.

I'll look for it again this weekend. The local CompUSA said they had ordered six! Plus they had no idea when they would arrive.

If stores continue to sell out of them, the order sizes might increase in the future.

The manager at my local EB is a strategy freak so they had about 10 copies on Tuesday.

I live near Boulder - I got the game from the EB in the Flatiron Crossing mall on Tuesday. Was a pre-order though, so I have no idea how many more they had/have. Must be a lot of strategy fans on Colorado.

I went to my EB on the release day, got the last copy. They get thier shipment around 11am, I was there at 11:45. The one I got was still inside the shipment box. I didn't ask how much they had ordered, but whoever got the copies just pounced on them.

Nice to see you, fellow Boulderites!

I realized I was going to have to get out to the mall, but I won't have time until the weekend. Hopefully they will still have some copies.

Too bad the game wasn't released before the snow- I had two free days off work!

It is nowhere to be seen in Australia.
My local EB store had "Never heard of it."


Same thing happened at 2 Hastings outlets here.

Today I checked out 4 stores;

EB did not have it, Comp USA did not have it, Software Etc did not Have it,

But Game Stop had about 20 copies.
