Moderators move this if it has a better home. Anyway I was not paying attention and I started the update to Multimedia. I say that as it is 336MB. Anyway I came back about 40 minutes later and it had failed: Music\PlanetScreen_ClassE.mp_ Result: Failed (deleted file) Installation aborted (failed) This is an XP PRO system. I am not sue how far along it was, but there are a lot of entries in teh log. So what does this mean in terms of the install? No harm no

There is no way to say you will prefer one over the other. I like Starsships Unlimited as a nice quick game. SEIV Gold is good, but lots on MM and Aaron is very good at making the players happy. I have only played a bit of Galciv, but it seems to have some fun to it and Brad seems to be on top of it. Me I have to have all space 4x games, even the bad ones. I should mention that Andrew of Starships was very accessible when the game was shareware.

I would say that if you move up the AI intel level and get to a point where it does not work, then it makes sense. If it works any all AI settings, then it needs to be corrected. I mean if the AI is a "fool" or "sub-Norm", then it is fitting, that it should make those types of choices.

I bought the game at EB. I then came to Galciv.com and got the bonus pak. Yesterday I DL SDC and installed it. Today I finally figured out how to get it all activated and I highlighted the Galciv product under the Dreg.net tab and selected the update button. I am now getting the whole 85MB DL, ouch, even on a DSL that is not fun and does not help you guys much either.

Yes we could stand a full function board ala Apolyton. Not find the one that have changed since my last visit at a glance is a pain. Not being able to edit..... Break out post by categories such as bug, strat, mods, etc. Then people can skip the stuff they are not interested in, I mean if you you have no crashes, you do not care to see post about failures.

Difficult is fine, serendipity sucks. I had the prison thing and it dropped three ships with 265 HP each. I rush bought a planetary defense and sent in a battle something other there in one turn. Some how and I have no clue why, two ships blew up attacking next turn. The last died on the following turn. I dislike random events, but that is just me.

we need some form of auto haggle, that barter is tedious. why don't they come to me an make offers? I do not mind if I do not get the absolute best deal, but I sometimes look at a long list of things to offer to a new found race and have no clue what they may want and what it is worth to them. How about a Civ3 like deal where you say what would you offer me for this or that? I mean monthly or lump is also an issue.

So I played on quite a bit since my last rant. I have many little gripes about the difficulty of finding out details of things, most of which can be figured out, but should have been documented. I will say in whole it is a worthwhile game. It has lots of features and I know that Brad will be like Aaron is for Space Empires and that is to stay on top of the game and improve it for some time. There is plenty to keep you active. I conquered a few races and have some battles, drop t

Thanks to those that had some input. Staying in the Imperialism was going to be my next attempt, but it seems like you will miss out on improved government. I am not concerned about getting my money back, I would rather support the efforts to make space 4x games, even if I do not enjoy the game. I will always buy any TBS space strategy game for that reason and if it is not to my liking, oh well. I will not lose any sleep. I am not disappointed, since I had no expectations. I would say th

Let me preface all my remarks about GalCiv with a great big note that I am very mad at the game right now. I had tried to declare war and can not. I finally abandon play of this game and will have to start new one using another tactic. I really hate the senate in Civ2 and it is back with a vengence in Galciv. The sentate would not let me attack, it would not let me change governments. Yes I know if I maintained control, I may have been able to, or maybe not. The point is I run

That is about what I figured, but that reeks. I was attacking an evil empire no less. I need to figure out if there is a way to play as an all out warmonger. I can not abide being told I can not attack, I am a ruler. No a god, I do not have to answer to anyone in a game! :D

Ok, I will fess up to not having any real time in the game and being a complete newbie. First thing I have to say is what the heck is the deal with being out colonized on the lowest settings, dang. Now on to my subject, I wanted to attack a race and tried to attack some ships. I get a senate vote saying I can not have a war. I mean did someone play the heck out of civ2 or what. I really hated that in civ2 and I nearly threw this game out the door. I looked all over the dipl

It seems that games have made the easy level the old normal or even in games like AoW2 the hard level. I do not understand this. Easy should mean just that, you can not lose at easy level if you have any ability to follow the game. I play some games at the impossible setting, that is what the higher levels are for, to increase the challenge. You wil lose players if they get whacked on easy levels.

The same as here. The people who vote are the ones who like these types of games and buy them (me included). I will buy the game regardless. The proof is in the results of the poll. It reflects what I have said. Virtually everyone who took it voted in the affirmative. The FPS players that do not play these games will not be coming to this site or Moo3, for the most part. The people who joined the net here are even more inclined to love this type of game and will likely stick with it irrespective

I wonder if the poll has much value? I suspect that most people who come here have a predisposition to like this type of game and will vote for it. So what is to be learned?
