"Object Desktop" is Stardock's name for their Subscription process for the included suite of programs. By definition it is a Subscription-only Subscription. Reason being the on-going fee caters for both new and updated products across a range of types. A single purchase 'lifetime' option for the typical Stardock product, for example Fences 6, means you are entitled to each and all updates and revisions to Fences 6. It does not automatically follow on to a later r

Well, they've posted a 'fix' for the issue, and my system hack seems to be holding anyway. That makes them marginally better than Microsoft who clearly does not give a damn about environmental waste management. In any other industry that wasn't an effective monopoly they would be commercially screwed for doing what they did.
It would be far more appropriate to have posted a single thread with the heading "Bugs in Galciv IV" and simply listed them together or add to them via comment responses.
This is a request, not a suggestion. Spamming the forum with multiple threads displaces other users' threads from current focus. Consideration for others using the Forums is a "standard practice" also.
saboorohit .. It would be far more appropriate to have posted a single thread with the heading "Bugs in Galciv IV" and simply listed them together or add to them via comment responses. 12 separate threads makes it far more laborious for people to follow and respond and is disrespectful to other site users whose own threads are hugely displaced. The trick is...when an Admin sees a large number of threads from one user he automatically assumes it is an un
Curious—what draws everyone back to older games when there are so many new ones out there? Is it habit, pure fun, nostalgia, or a great brain break?
All of the above, probably. My old faves were things like Terra Nova ... ran that again recently via Dosbox. I still have pretty much every Mechwarrior game made [for PC], though haven't played it in a decade or so. Only 'real' game I frequent is F
There's a class of battleship/whatever named after me ...;)
Notification of Trevor's appointment came at an unfortunate time - just as the sites crashed and went dark. Congratulations with the appointment, Trevor. Once upon a time there was a 'requirement' that to work for Stardock you had to 'understand' Monty Python. So, are we up to speed with the carrying capacity of the African Swallow? ;)
Thanks, Naroon ... we're back in action [almost] ...;)
This thread is to remember Gene. Let's leave it that way.
I just fresh re-installed windows 10 as part of my yearly reset to start with a clean os. Im in it for the long haul now.
My Single OS install of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 has an uptime of 85,220 hours ...or 9 years 265 days 20 hours. The longest continuous uptime was recently around 230 days between reboots. Windows 10 is unlikely to ever be that 'stable', not when MS is still messing with it. <
It's time to get yourself a stable OS that doesn't even need to go online to update.... and stay offline. Do all your window-shopping the old way...with real windows .... the glass ones. I guess "Internet Explorer" was less evil-sounding than "Soul Extractor". Antisocial Media is just that...keep away...;)
Galactic Civilizations IV is one of the greatest failures in modern 4x gaming. I loved I, II and II. They had a real charm about them. Besides all the bugs, besides all the gameplay issues, besides the lack of meaningful diversity in alien species, its just a game that feels like its lost all its charm. Today I booted it up to give it another try after buying it a year ago. I figured they
6 years later... 2015 we were back... And so was the House....
I took this photo on my first trip to the US. We stayed just around the corner... 8 years and 10 days later... The House was still closed.
I had that exact same XT...the 1 meg ram card was about 15" long ...full depth of the box. Wasn't my first computer...that was an XT clone...and before that a CBM64...;) Oh...before that again was a Fortran [not mine, naturally ... I didn't have the building big enough] ...;)
You've really got this genre down pat. All the illustrations you've created are very crisp with very fine detail. Are you having to do a lot of post work, or are they just this good from the AI software?
Really good looking girl...but IA really hasn't a clue about perspective. Architecture is still safe [though Autodesk's Revit can generate perspective correctly]...;)

You might want to check your 'sleep' settings. Possibly the computer thinks it's not being used and is turning 'bits' off....such as the hard drive [that has the music]...;)
Same to you, Brad...and all the crew at SDHQ ...;)
One important point when dealing with any attempted recovery....never delete or move anything...only copy the files found...and obviously never back to the damaged drive/file system. Every overwrite is data loss...;)
