Demigod Clans - Clan pacov

Demigod Clans - Clan pacov

There's another post that cover's alot of this, but this thread is specifically for clan pacov.  Here's the other thread:

http://forums.demigodthegame.com/374590

Here we go:  there aren't alot of demigod clans out there.  The game CURRENTLY has less than 500 people that play together at any given time online.  I can't back that number up, but I think that's fairly reasonable based on what I've seen.  Out of those 500 or so players, many of those players many have bad connections and some outright cheat.  You probably don't want to play with them.  I probably don't either.  So, getting a group of people together that don't cheat or have bad connections is a pretty good idea IMO.  Plus, coordinating a team in demigod is MUCH easier if you have voicechat.  Let's do that too. So - players with good connections + players that use voicechat (at least to listen in) = clan pacov.  Its pretty much an all welcome scenario so long as you fit that criteria.  Here's the info you need to join voicechat:

Here is where you can download the client (its free):   http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php

Here are instructions on how to use ventrilo to connect to a server:  http://www.ventrilo.com/setup.php

Here is the public vent info:

Lagwars vent
Hostname:  Oxygen.typefrag.com
Port:  50216

Once you join the vent, PM someone in clan pacov.  Each of our channels are password protected but there are plenty of public channels to idle in and people clan pacov check out the pub channels from time to time.

Here's what we deliver.  You get more balanced games with people that don't cheat.  I regularly balance games out to encourage more people to play with and against us.

Ask questions if you have them and any clan pacov specific discussions belong here (casual, serious, etc).

Clan Pacov Mission Statement:

Clan pacov isn't about forming team super premade.  Its about frequently getting fun games going and occassionally getting some really competitive games going as well.  We welcome like minded, non-devisive individuals interested in playing games on a semi-regular basis.  We don't welcome people who cheat at games.  We will mix up teams to make things fun.  We will all generally be using voicechat.  We will play with and against each other.  We will play with and against other clans.

FYI - the clan channel is most active between 6PM-2AM EST daily, but people are on all hours of the days

I'm curious to know the games people have and what all they'd be up for playing.  I currently have sins of a solar empire: diplomacy, demigod, company of heroes, alien vs predator, dawn of war 1 (all expansions) and dawn of war 2, and battlefield bad company 2.

In response to hedgies post:

First off Osmium Shift was kalel making a typo. It was supposed to be Osmium Shit.  Now we've all had Osmium shit's before after eating white castle/krystal/taco bell/jack in the box etc.

And Hedgie, as far as paint and i already in a clan, it's a non-competitve FPS clan and not a demigod clan.  It's a bunch of us old farts that just like to play various games together. If you get BC2 there is no doubt you will play with some of those guys.

Let's face it, the worst thing about seeing a game die out is not that game itself, but the friends you made playing it.  You young whipper snappers will understand one day.

So one recommendation for CP should be the ability to play multiple games lol

In regards to tryouts & ranks etc for a clan.

I will tell you that this just causes problems and political issues a la Survivor/ big brother etc. (FYI i hate those shows lol)

People will try to gain higher ranks and be slighted when they are denied.  IF the clan is competitive (ie. leagues & ladders) having a primary team and secondary etc. usally works out well. Also having game specific sub divisions works out ok.

In my experience (which is extensive BTW) Clans are best as either a dictatorship or when they are mostly leaderless (just a few guys who are the organizers)  This works for small clans, ie. under 50 people.

(Getting more than 150 people in a guild etc..... well lets just say i never ever want to deal with those headaches again)

Having a person or two able to admin when necessary is fine as well. The bottom line is that the best way it works is if eveyone who is in the clan has essentially an equal voice.  This provides long term relationship growth that will span multiple games and years.  This is similar to the way Valve runs their company.

Invites are handled by voting amongst the clan.  If a person wants to join, they ask a friend of theirs who is a member in the clan.  When the member thinks that they would be a good addition and the invitee has played with the clan long enough then the member requests a clan vote.  My recommendation is that a high percentage of the clan has to vote yes for someone to join, (it 75% etc.)

And Synn, that is why CP isn't some uber premade ultra l337 stomp all pugs all the time clan.  We're just trying to find a nice balance between public and keeping people happy.

Pacov, remind me tonight in regards to a website.

Indeed.  I ran things a little like a dictatorship (going public, for instance - you might remember me welcoming jon and paint to our little dg clan back in the day :) and that wasn't exactly considered cool by some for a little bit.  ).  But anyway, the dictatorship side of things can pleasantly die as far as I'm concerned.  Equal vote held by the core seems to be the way to go.  I don't much care for the politicing or new offshoots of the clan popping up overnight without even having someone so much as send me a pm.  So, it, not being a dictatorship, then, I'll put out there that I think the extra vent channel (osmium) is unnecessary.  If its a matter of control or some power struggle, I don't have any issue with getting admin rights for the core as long as we all agree to a basic set of rules for each other. But that said, I think I have the private channels adequately locked down just for the core's usage.

The bottom line is that the best way it works is if eveyone who is in the clan has essentially an equal voice. This provides long term relationship growth that will span multiple games and years.

I am a couple weeks away from picking up a PS3.  I have not had a console for years..  PS1 I believe.
Has not been my cup of tea for the most part but I am looking fwd: to playing many of the games it has to offer.  PC versions will always be safe..I'd be very bummed if I owned Oblivion for a console instead of the PC...and I am not a big FPS console fan, but PS3/console exclusives are very welcome.  FFXIII is on my list but I think I will pick up Demon's Souls first...

Call me a jerk and tell me to get out of here if you want pacov lol but for my sanity I think you guys need to get a little more serious.  This can be done simply by establishing who your actual competitive members are that you are comfortable with representing the clan vs other clans.  I think you've mentioned already that these members are: Kalel, Trousersnake, Abuggeredhedgie, Jongalt, and you, is that the final fab 5?  There's no reason to completely get rid of all your other vent friends but it would be nice to know who is up for a serious game occasionally from your group and who we need to balance with when they join GM games.

The public vent thing can be depressing with some of the people who join when you're trying to play competitive games.  I'm having some of the same issues it seems your more competitive members are having.  It's really wearing me down playing only vs other GM members, since the other clans don't seem to be on much anymore and always having someone on my team who I don't trust at all but play with them just because they're on vent.  It's more frustrating then a pug game even where no one knows anyone elses skill.

jerk.  hehe.  I'll respond to your post tomorrow.  Thx for taking the time.

Tonight I got back into some DG and played some games with trouser and levi.  Fun games.  I swear we should have lost the game against mith, but we pulled it out of our butts. Then, me, trouser and jon got some avp in.  Good times.  Kalel is awol for like 2 days now.  Thinking he might have comp issues or something.

edit - oh and I think another clan of sorts may have formed as a result of a few of my posts a little while back.  The fighting mongooses channel in vent might be a new pug style channel for dg.  I guess I'll quickly clarify that I'm not personally trying to run people out of clan pacov per se.  I'm just trying to get the core guys in 1 channel that is PW protected and let everyone else play in another channel.  A really good example of what I'm trying to do is tonight.  Trouser wanted to play dg, so I quickly checked wtih everyone in the vent if they'd like to play a game.  And boom, levi showed up so we played.  I do like getting to play with you fellas as well.

Even if we haven't adopted a clan moniker, you can get competitive games out of me, kalel, trouser, hedgie, jon, and paint.  IMO, the most competitive match up you will get out of is probably me, trouser, kalel, and hedgie. In 3v3, some combo of those 6.  It's difficult for me to qualify the skill level of the other players that often play in clan pacov as I haven't been able to play with many of them in smaller games to guage their skill level.  No one really stands out to me as bad.  Levi's the newest to play with us and he's got some learning to do, but will be a decent player.

hehe.  You guys did choose to recruit alot of the top players... so your option is generally to either fight weaker players (if they don't abandon your lobbies), fight against each other, or try to stir things up with us :)  You do have a great clan strategy if you primarily want to fight against each other though...

Oh - and as silly as it sounds, me and quite a few folks from my work are going to start playing some starcraft/broodwar again.  If you are interested in joining us and don't have the game, you can buy it for $3.50... seriously.  Here's the link: LINKY!   That site sells CD keys for blizzard games.  Legit CD keys that work on battle.net.  A few of my buds bought keys here today and I've bought from them in the past.  Basically, all you need is the CD key you buy from them.  Then, go to battle.net (owned by blizzard) and register your game.  It will give you access to download them directly.

Again... check out the link I posted 1 post above if you haven't yet.  Great place to get old, excellent games.  Had a couple of games against GM tonight.  Won 1, lost the other.  Kalel is back after being away for 2 days or so.

Mauxe joined the AFK channel today and added a comment to his name:  (sins: diplo, dg, and sc/bw).  In short, he was saying what games he had and would be up for playing.  I like that approach.  Anyway, seems like we are currently back to playing dg more often than not, so we'll keep looking for people in our pub channels and other pub channels to play with.  hehe... if you want to become one of pacov's best buds, pick of bfbc2 and be ready to play at the beginning of march when its released.  We'll play alot.

Nothing too exciting today, but a few people from GM pursued me for games and we played a few games, so we are starting to get clan v clan games going of a more serious nature.

Lol omg, I just watched the replay for the game I played last night.  I literally don't even remember it, I finished midterms at 4 pm yesterday and started drinking with one of my roommates at 5:30.  Hahaha I'm told that I passed out at the computer.  I'm sorry GM! And Pacov!  Could've been a nice game.

Had quite a few favor mod 1.8 BUGFIX games today.  Had some fun 2v2 mixed teams with kalel, trouser, pacov, and cowbutt.  hehe... we tried for a long time to get a 5v5 going and actually had > 10 peeps available, but always someone couldn't install the mod right or something... the pain of dg :)  Oh well, I think next time we try 5v5 it will be much better.

Guild wars plat is $9 on amazon if anyone interested.  Assassin's creed 2 is 34 or so for ps3 or 360 on amazon.  Kitten sanctuary (damn impulse TV!!!!) is a fun game, I hate to admit... nice marketing tool SDers!  BFBC2 is due out in like a week.  SUpCOM2 is due out right about the same time... and I have dreams of getting in the starcraft 2 beta.

I've been spending some of my free time playing through old school Starcraft I.  You can buy it for $3.55.  Even though it is an old game, you are a knucklehead if you haven't picked it up at that price.  The graphics are dated... the gameplay is NOT.  I posted a link earlier in this thread in case you want to buy it.
