Here we go:  there aren't alot of demigod clans out there.  The game CURRENTLY has less than 500 people that play together at any given time online.  I can't back that number up, but I think that's fairly reasonable based on what I've seen.  Out of those 500 or so players, many of those players many have bad connections and some outright cheat.  You probably don't want to play with them.  I probably don't either.  So, getting a group of people together that don't cheat or have bad connections is a pretty good idea IMO.  Plus, coordinating a team in demigod is MUCH easier if you have voicechat.  Let's do that too. So - players with good connections + players that use voicechat (at least to listen in) = clan pacov.  Its pretty much an all welcome scenario so long as you fit that criteria.  Here's the info you need to join voicechat:

Once you join the vent, PM someone in clan pacov.  Each of our channels are password protected but there are plenty of public channels to idle in and people clan pacov check out the pub channels from time to time.

Here's what we deliver.  You get more balanced games with people that don't cheat.  I regularly balance games out to encourage more people to play with and against us.  

Ask questions if you have them and any clan pacov specific discussions belong here (casual, serious, etc).

Clan Pacov Mission Statement:

Clan pacov isn't about forming team super premade.  Its about frequently getting fun games going and occassionally getting some really competitive games going as well.  We welcome like minded, non-devisive individuals interested in playing games on a semi-regular basis.  We don't welcome people who cheat at games.  We will mix up teams to make things fun.  We will all generally be using voicechat.  We will play with and against each other.  We will play with and against other clans.

FYI - the clan channel is most active between 6PM-2AM EST daily, but people are on all hours of the days

I'm also afraid to overclock anything lol. I don't trust myself not to break things. ;)  

(probably because I was replacing a keyboard and broke the pin three years ago - strangely there was no way to take the keyboard out of a certain type of Dell laptop without breaking the part)

Why is it that CPUs can almost double their efficiency by overclocking yet graphics cards will give you only like +0.5 FPS?

GPUs are basically vector based processors. They focus on doing many things at once rather than lots of single tasks extremely quickly and in quick succession. Increasing your clock speeds for CPU gives mostly linear speedup since if you throw 25% more power at it, it can do 25% more, resulting in it doing everything 25% faster.

If a GPU has 1200 pipes and you throw 25% more power that power is distributed along all of those pipes which gives only a tiny speed-up per pipe.

 

Also the Phenom 965 >>> i7 at lower clock speeds (no liquid cooling) since it is way more efficient power-wise. The Hyperthreading in the i7 only shines when you're at crazy speeds (4.6) where you basically get to act like a 8-core 2.3 GHz processor rather than a 3.4 GHz quad-core that has mild schizophrenic tendencies and likes to pretend to be a really slow 8-core.

 

The only thing I have overclocked in my gaming rig is my RAM because that's the Phenom's largest drawback: it isn't DDR3 compatible :-( end-result in order to keep up with the i7 you need to buy the bestest DDR2 RAM you can get and then aggressively overclock it.

My RAM was 55 degrees Centigrade until I bought a RAM heatsink 8D

So... i thought hedgie was just making a joke... guess not then.  Sorry to hear that. 

Well then.  We had some fun games tonight.  A few favor mod games.  A few regular games.  Some mix ups with GM.  Hopefully this weekend we'll get that challenge from the tier 1 tier 2 thread on.  Looking forward to that, win or lose.  I think the best game of the night was this:  http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/game/1281424/player/28414/.  The game name indicated how all of us were frustrated with DG being a pain tonight and we all crashed when hosting for like 10 minutes.  Anyway, my team played random, so that explains the crazy ass teams.  Surprizingly, this game went back and forth left and right.  At one point, we routed everyone but one on their team... then, like 4 minutes later, they did the same thing.  The sad part, now that I think about it... is that we were OP late game.  We could have chained silence OVER and OVER, but I don't think many/any spec'd it.  A level 2 silence is what... about 4 seconds or so?  So, 3 sednas doing that for 12 seconds totaly means the other team is on the run and doesn't try to group up... ever.  Oh well.  We missed a fun opportunity there.  I was happy I was erb though :)  Wish we'd have been able to think on the fly more as I think we had a huge advantage (in hindsight, of course).  A team of 3 hedgies would have been INVINCIBLE!!!
