Demigod Clans - Clan pacov

Demigod Clans - Clan pacov

There's another post that cover's alot of this, but this thread is specifically for clan pacov.  Here's the other thread:

http://forums.demigodthegame.com/374590

Here we go:  there aren't alot of demigod clans out there.  The game CURRENTLY has less than 500 people that play together at any given time online.  I can't back that number up, but I think that's fairly reasonable based on what I've seen.  Out of those 500 or so players, many of those players many have bad connections and some outright cheat.  You probably don't want to play with them.  I probably don't either.  So, getting a group of people together that don't cheat or have bad connections is a pretty good idea IMO.  Plus, coordinating a team in demigod is MUCH easier if you have voicechat.  Let's do that too. So - players with good connections + players that use voicechat (at least to listen in) = clan pacov.  Its pretty much an all welcome scenario so long as you fit that criteria.  Here's the info you need to join voicechat:

Here is where you can download the client (its free):   http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php

Here are instructions on how to use ventrilo to connect to a server:  http://www.ventrilo.com/setup.php

Here is the public vent info:

Lagwars vent
Hostname:  Oxygen.typefrag.com
Port:  50216

Once you join the vent, PM someone in clan pacov.  Each of our channels are password protected but there are plenty of public channels to idle in and people clan pacov check out the pub channels from time to time.

Here's what we deliver.  You get more balanced games with people that don't cheat.  I regularly balance games out to encourage more people to play with and against us.

Ask questions if you have them and any clan pacov specific discussions belong here (casual, serious, etc).

Clan Pacov Mission Statement:

Clan pacov isn't about forming team super premade.  Its about frequently getting fun games going and occassionally getting some really competitive games going as well.  We welcome like minded, non-devisive individuals interested in playing games on a semi-regular basis.  We don't welcome people who cheat at games.  We will mix up teams to make things fun.  We will all generally be using voicechat.  We will play with and against each other.  We will play with and against other clans.

FYI - the clan channel is most active between 6PM-2AM EST daily, but people are on all hours of the days

Why would anyone want to pretend to be a redneck? The game makes no sense.

lol Ninki -

I'll give it my best shot ;)

In narrative mythological terms The American Old West appeals to people because it almost always has some element of the following:

-a taciturn, tough, fiercely independent man (or Sharon Stone) who is often nameless and usually a "stranger in town"

in opposition to

-an institution which is in some way bad

and/or

- an individual who is objectively evil

It's a classic manifestation of Campbell's Hero with a Thousand Faces, and you see it explicitly referenced in movies like High Plains Drifter, where Eastwood's Mysterious Stranger is more the applied force of vengeful fate than a human being.

For the first several decades of the 20th century the Western Mythos usually represented the stranger as an avatar for civilized progression, even more subversive films like The Searchers placed their protagonist in opposition to the 'uncivilized' Native Americans or anarchic bandits as part of the Manifest Destiny of wholesome Anglos to 'tame' a brutal wilderness.

It wasn't until Leone's Dollars Trilogy that the hero made the mainstream transition into an anti-hero, and the struggle became one against the merciless institutions which were inexorably progressing across a once wild landscape.  The clearest early example of this is Leone's Once Upon a Time in America, in which the railroad's civilized progression across the desert is visibly marked by corruption, rape, and the murder of children.  Bronson's Stranger is almost mute, unconcerned with the law or love - everything in him but vengeance has been burned away.

The narrative shift into Individual Vs Machine is what most modern Western stories portray.  While it is true that every backwoods militia survivalist harbors a private belief that he is Josey Wales, that belief has nothing to do with shared lack of education or distrust of city slickers, and speaks more to the needs of almost every person in a culture where the individual is subsumed and spent by massive and faceless institutions to believe that an alternative exists.  A show like The Wire is made as a direct response to this perception, and the follow-up, Treme, seems to be speaking to what it takes to survive anyway.

It isn't about being a redneck.  It's about fighting the Man, and RDR is a story about just that.  It's good, Ninki, and you should check it out if you get a chance

;)

I'm just going to pretend like I understood all of it.

I also don't do well with guns. I feel as though guns aren't really my style unless Mario is holding it.

Guns are lame. Where's the fun in killing someone from like fifty yards away? There's really no skill to it either. That's why I like Rakion so much compared to FPS games. Third person real time 3d fighting games are crazy awesome.

I subconsciously alter my personality based on what I believe the person I'm talking to wants to hear. I'm probably a sociopath.  :-"

EDIT: Savage 2 is another good example of how to make a good FPS. They did a good job making the ranged attacking secondary yet not completely useless in combat.

Haha, apparently so. I've still yet to hear you talk though. Your voice gives away a lot of information about your personality. Especially Teseer and Obiwhan's voices.

So - i came across a video by way of diggnation.  Its essentially a speed test for google chrome.  I personally moved from ie over to firefox about a year ago and love firefox.  After watching the video below, I'm giving chrome a shot.  It is noticably faster on a high end pc - granted, we aren't talking about seconds here - we are talking milliseconds imo, but it is certainly more crisp on every site I've checked out.  Anyway, just watch the video if you haven't.  Its a very brilliant ad imo (and so good that it got me to install chrome myself (which I was unwilling/uninterested in doing previously)).

Haha, don't count on it. My voice is fairly deep for my age, and my microphone distorts it a lot. I'm thinking about getting a good mic. I want a pair of headphones with a mic where you can detach the mic.

^I need one of those. The one I have now is attached to my headphones, and I don't like wearing my headphones. The feeling of pleather around my face really disturbs me.
