With or without the enemy's CD flag? You could pretty much get hungarling's, rush the enemy CD flag, have almost no (maybe none at all) cooldowns, and be invincible and chain lock it.

I have been playing some SC1 for a few days now.  Pretty happy with it as a <$4 purchase.

Also picked up Mount and Blade last night off of Impule for $5.  Played a couple of hours last night.  Cannot say that I really love the game yet though.  I'll keep playing for a bit and see if I can build some momentum but so far it has been a bit underwhelming.

I also played a bit through Bioshock 2.  Not loving that one as much either.  It's not a bad game..  just seems like it should be a level editor add-on or DLC than a sequal.

i know what you mean - been having fun going back through old school starcraft.  I think you make a good point about bioshock 2.  The length of the game is certainly not impressive, but I had fun with it.  Not a fan of the MP they tacked on. 

I decided and ordered a new graphics card.  Got the 5850 for about $280 after cashback through tigerdirect.  Should have my new rig completely built next week.

Sounds good.  Your post about the processor made me think a bit about a new system.  I have a little cash coming back from taxes that I was going to drop on a PS3.  My son has been heavily campaigning for one and there are quite a few games I think I would enjoy..  especially some of the PSN downloads. 

But the allure of a new processor/video card combo is strong.  I just don't think I need one yet.  I have a dual core overclocked to 3GHz with and 8800GTS that plays anything I need well.  Some things do ned to be toned down a little but nothing that bothers me or makes me think that I am counting my days... 

We'll see how this all plays out.

As far as Bioshock 2 goes..  one aspect I don't like is how they shoe-horned the story into the original plot. 

Something as significant as a rogue doctor actively working to undermine Ryan seems like something we would have seen signs of in 1.  I have not finished the story yet so there may be more info to help me suspend my disbelief more...  yet I can think of at least two different plotlines I would have accepted much more readily:

1. Lamb was an original resident/founding member of Rapture with differing ideas than Ryan who ended up leaving prior to the big Adam/plasmid meltdown.  She returned to Rapture shortly after the first game only to find Ryan dead and the city a somewhat living graveyard.  With her intricate knowledge of Raptures structure she is able to animate/control/whatever her own Big Daddy for protection and gets the splicers under her control (however that is done...  somehow Ryan was able to direct these psychotic drug-crazed mutants against you on a whim...).  She builds up her power in Rapture..  continues the research and development of Big Daddys into Big Sisters..  develops her own Little Sisters possibly with the assistance of outside scientists that she brings to the city. I'm ok with the plotline of stealing girls from the surface.  I bought into that one quickly.  If they needed to make the hero a Big Daddy they could spin it that her original protector went against her when she took his little sister away.  She did the killiing thing yet now he is mysteriously back...    yet I don't find the BD character to be needed.  He seems much weaker than the other BD's I am fighting against.  The main character could be one of the fathers that found their way down to Rapture.  I have some ideas on how they could twist that into an ending as well but you get the point.
   
2. Scrap the sequal idea.  Re-build Rapture with a new set of characters.  A new storyline.  Add the enhancements to the game that you want..  add Big Sisters or whatever.  Essentially leave the original alone unless you can legitimately add to the story, take the basic ideas of an isolated underwater society gone wrong, and run with it in a new direction.  Different time period perhaps, different social structure..  I'd be ok with that.

I don't know.  Like I said - I'm not done yet but it could have been better.

1 MORE DAYA to BFBC2!  Looking forward to it.  Kalel, stop being a cheap SOB and pick it up.  Anyway, I didn't get a chance to play that much (read:at all) on Sat this week.  Played a bit tonight.  Nothing too thrilling.  Trouser got a new job so he won't be on as much anymore, but good for him.  Still dreaming I'll hit the starcraft 2 lottery and get in the beta.  Me lovess sc2.

Hedgie is back in action to some degree - got to play a little dg w him tonight. 

Anyway, if you get battle field bad company 2 and want to play with us, respond here and hook me up with you in game name. I'll still be playing dg, of course, but will be playing ALOT of bfbc2 starting tuesday.  I'm dreaming, but it would be a blast to have 2 5 man squads from clan pacov or just dg peeps.  Anyway, get the game and PM me - you and I will play together. 

And last, supcom2.  I'm still debating picking up this game.  I like the gameplay.  I think the story/voice acting are weak and contrived.  It might sound a little off, but a game like supcom, I buy for SP first, then a close second MP.   The SP, just based on the demo, seems really weak.  I enjoyed the graphics (nice step up from Supcom imo) and the game play was ok (but perhaps lacking in depth - were there formations and I missed it?).  Anyway - I don't know... it isn't going on sale for a bit...

Anyone else have some thoughts on the demo?

been busy with many other things lately.  Today is super exciting nerd day for me.  New hard drive arriving along with my 5850 card... and bfbc2 is getting released... also... wtf is up with steam... they are releasing the game at like 5pm est... so, i won't be able to play until later/late tonight as their is no preload.  Wonder how they came up with 5pm as a launch time though... seems kind of dumb.

In case anyone is interested in quick, semi daily favor mod games, I typically try to get 1 in at around 5:15PM ET on regular basis.  I usually just have time for 1 game around then, but if I see you idling in the clan pacov channel, I'll check with you and see if you want to get a game in.  Mostly, its been me and bane_soleman getting in quick vs ai games, but we can do something else if more of you happen to be on then.  Not sure if I'll be able to play then today though with all the new computer parts.

hehe... not your nick anymore so poop on you.    Ok, I'll get some DG in tomorrow.  Today I spent about 6 hours finishing my new rig.  Happy to say its done and runs beatifully.  Going to look into some OC settings when I get bored, but its running BFBC2 at highest settings without a hint of slowdown.  Good stuff...

Speaking of battlefield bad company 2 - me loves.  Great looking, great gameplay.  The SP mode is actually fun with a somewhat interesting storyline.  If you ever liked the battlefield, pick this up.  The destructable environments are pretty sweet in SP as well.  And the MP's a blast.  Anyway, good stuff.  Hopefully catch some of you tomorrow.

I'm pacov in BF2BC if any of you want to add me.  I'll be playing at least a few games with trouser tonight of that at the very least.  And I hope to get a favor mod game or 2 in.

Is BFBC2 going strong?  I was thinking about picking it up as well.  Still enjoying SC SP though.

I love BFBC2.  And yes, there is a single player campaign that's fun at the least, IMO.  I think they did a good job with it.  They've had some meh server issues that made things a little rough, but those are mostly resolved at this point.  So far, its been mostly me and trouser playing, but jon, paint, and shade have the game as well.  We're patiently waiting on kalel to come up with $13 so he can buy the rest of the game.  I'll play with you this weekend if you pick it up.  I'm on call for work, so I have to stick close to the house.

Grabbed it..  just waiting for an unusually slow Impulse download...

also... i think the biggest problem with impulse is that they won't predict the future like steam.
