Demigod Clans - Clan pacov

Demigod Clans - Clan pacov

There's another post that cover's alot of this, but this thread is specifically for clan pacov.  Here's the other thread:

http://forums.demigodthegame.com/374590

Here we go:  there aren't alot of demigod clans out there.  The game CURRENTLY has less than 500 people that play together at any given time online.  I can't back that number up, but I think that's fairly reasonable based on what I've seen.  Out of those 500 or so players, many of those players many have bad connections and some outright cheat.  You probably don't want to play with them.  I probably don't either.  So, getting a group of people together that don't cheat or have bad connections is a pretty good idea IMO.  Plus, coordinating a team in demigod is MUCH easier if you have voicechat.  Let's do that too. So - players with good connections + players that use voicechat (at least to listen in) = clan pacov.  Its pretty much an all welcome scenario so long as you fit that criteria.  Here's the info you need to join voicechat:

Here is where you can download the client (its free):   http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php

Here are instructions on how to use ventrilo to connect to a server:  http://www.ventrilo.com/setup.php

Here is the public vent info:

Lagwars vent
Hostname:  Oxygen.typefrag.com
Port:  50216

Once you join the vent, PM someone in clan pacov.  Each of our channels are password protected but there are plenty of public channels to idle in and people clan pacov check out the pub channels from time to time.

Here's what we deliver.  You get more balanced games with people that don't cheat.  I regularly balance games out to encourage more people to play with and against us.

Ask questions if you have them and any clan pacov specific discussions belong here (casual, serious, etc).

Clan Pacov Mission Statement:

Clan pacov isn't about forming team super premade.  Its about frequently getting fun games going and occassionally getting some really competitive games going as well.  We welcome like minded, non-devisive individuals interested in playing games on a semi-regular basis.  We don't welcome people who cheat at games.  We will mix up teams to make things fun.  We will all generally be using voicechat.  We will play with and against each other.  We will play with and against other clans.

FYI - the clan channel is most active between 6PM-2AM EST daily, but people are on all hours of the days

Quoting synnworld, reply 322Sorry pacov, I got the damn handled exception crap in the middle of the game.
hehe... trouser and I went to on to win with the synnworld ai, but the game desynced right as the citadel went down.  Either there was a really sore loser or demigod bugged itself yet again.

That is....so mean XD

You guys should play Savage 2

Its free! ;)

End of quote

I used to. I kind of got bored of it though. Everyone I played against in Savage 2 was soo bad. I won like 9/10 of my games

It could actually run on my old computer, which was nice.

Is anyone besides pacov going to go for SC 2 ?

I'm going to play the !@#$ out of SC2 when it comes out. I haven't played Demigod in a while though because I have not a second of free time in my day.

split - there's an unfortunate acroynm out there called SC2.  It means supreme commander 2 and starcraft 2.  He was referring to supcom2.  I will be in exactly the same boat once starcraft 2 launches.  I will be playing that, most likely exclusively and competitively.  I'm bound to end up in a dg game from time to time though... but to say the 1st starcraft was like crack to me is to put it quite mildly.  I may very well be Korean.

Anyway - had some fun games tonight.  Spent a little while pugging.  Came across 1 person that almost certainly pulled the host disconnect... after they got beat vs me, one other guy, and an ai, so no stat for the game.  No big deal though.  Just annoying to work my ass off to pull off a win to have someone pull that shite right as the citadel was dropping.  We've all been there.  Anyway, I actually had multiple games tonight were a player was disconnected on my team like 5 minutes in and we still dominated.  These weren't crazy high level games, but mid/high imo. Got some games in with trouser too.  Good fun.  All demigod tonight, though.

The firmware flash I mentioned went really well.  I'm still looking into everything I can do, but I'm seeing a pretty solid performance increase.  IF YOU ARE PATIENT, I recommend trying out the firmware I mentioned on the previous page.  Seriously though, take your time or you could brick your router, but it makes a noticable difference to me in performance.

After the fallout I mentioned between me and Kalel a few posts back, I had his admin rights removed from our vent channel (at the time - osmium shift) and renamed it back to clan pacov.  Anyway, I dropped his access as when last we spoke, he indicated that his vent was "broke" and that he couldn't join anymore.  So, I had his access removed as his "broke" vent could never work again, I was sure.  To my extraordinary surprize (I nearly fainted), he has returned to the vent I showed him sometime ago and requested his own channel setup again.  I assume he did this, in some part, to piss me off because it always bothered me that a friend would pull the shit that he did (starting his own channel, stirring shit up with the people that i regularly play with - he's a real pal).  Anyway, I have happy dreams of never bumping into the shite again, but I'll have to be patient until starcraft 2 comes out, I think.

And Kalel - to put it into clear print for you in case anything is unclear - I think you are a pretty huge jerk.  We've played games for almost a year together.  I invited you to play with several of my friends.  I recruited quite a few good folks into a clan so we'd all have good people to play with.  I think you are a shit for how you've behaved.  I think you are a shit for how you can insult someone you've been "friends" with for almost a year and then act like you didn't do a damn thing.  Getting drunk, insulting your friend, and jabbering away insults in chat.  If you really felt that way, you should have had the balls to do it at least over vent.  But you don't have the balls.  And you aren't man enough to even apologize for your piss poor behavior.  You won't even acknowledge it.  Anyway, you've had well over a week to make any attempt at all to apologize for your behavior - so either that's how you feel or you are too much of a coward to address it.  Anyway, perhaps you've convinced yourself that you are the victim - but the facts remain that you made your drunken, insulting rant, ducked me for a day, and then pretended nothing happened when I tried to talk to you about it.  Good job buddy!

So, Kalel - I was glad to have someone available to play with on a regular basis.  Thanks for all the games we got in.  I'm not glad I managed to find someone that was willing to stab me in the back simply because "its over the internet so I can behave like a jackass."  For that, I hope I don't bump into you again.  Best of luck in the future and hopefully you don't find a friend betraying you and acting like they are the victim too.  It's pretty awesome.

Oh - and here's an example of Kalel's response... my 40 year old, 12 year old friend... http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/player/100920

Bleh, Osmium shift is a way cooler name than Clan Pacov.

Anyway, so that house I checked out looks like we might get it... filling out my paper work tonight and then turning in my application. I'm hoping to move in on Saturday and getting my gaming rig set up either that night or the following Sunday.

For those who didn't know, I've been camping at the library and in my car (with the occasional night at a friends' house which was when I was able to play) and the last week I've been living on a ranch with a friend with really slow internet (3x times the speed of dialup!), plus work has been extremely busy and I've had to work overtime a few days :-/

So expect me be around Sunday or Monday (esp Monday since I won't have work or anything) or so, I'll try to get a few games in for sure ;)

--

Sorry to hear about KALEL, I know he's always been bothered about some of your behavior (like being AFK while not really) and just the whole yelling thing. But not going to bring him up because it's pointless.

Not exactly what happened since I wasn't there for the drama but I know I really enjoyed playing with him and I always thought he was a nice guy, we got along pretty well and were both really relaxed, which was fun. It's a shame it sounds like he threw a fit when he got some alcohol in him.

That said, I think posting an inflamatory post about him and wishing you never see him again is kinda in poor humor. I understand this is "clan buisness" and so it sorta belongs here, but I wish it was a bit more cursory along the lines of "KALEL has left CP and we are going by CP again, not Osmium Shift" would have been a little better way of doing it. Espiecially when you're written a few passive aggressive posts on here before.

But that's just my opinion

---

Starcraft 2: Probably will get it, but I won't be good at it :-( just so everyone knows, I have very little expierence with Starcraft and I tend to do poorly in macroscopic RTSs' anyway, even if I really enjoy them.

---

Thunder:

Well, the fact that I can play a 1v1 while connected to Steam, AIM and GFWL without lagging for DoW II with a 40 KBps upload and download... it's much, much more forgiving than Demigod. I bet you could probably 2v2 pretty easily, as long as your connection is stable and never disconnects from Steam or GFWL. GFWL has built-in voice support, even if it's crappy so we don't have to deal with Vent if it pushes your connections too far.

The multiplayer community is pretty active and you can get a 1v1 or 2v2 game within 2 minutes using it's automatic matchmaking service, which is the popular game mode (not Custom Games). Custom Games are not ranked, however, so gives you a little bit more of a casual gaming expierence. Games last about 15-20 minutes for 1v1, and 20-30 for 2v2. 3v3's are 30-40, with some lasting up to an hour. Come-from-behind victories are totally possible and happen "All the time".

It does have a fair amount of bugs, however. A few targeting issues and there are a few game-breaking bugs right now (eg, one unit has melee resistance and ranged resitense when it shouldn't, and also he has no "upkeep" which means he is dirt cheap and hard to kill). However, the game is very much aggressively supported, and they release massive balance patches every month or two. There is one that is going to be released in a week or two that will fix most of the major inbalances of the newest expansion.

That said, even though the developers dramatically shift the game meta all the time, the game is no where near balanced. Every patch there is 2-3 tier 1 races and 2-3 tier 3 races. No in-between. Sadly, I prefer one of the weaker races right now, Tyranid, which get raped by the current meta (lots of AoE) since most of their units are "swarmy/mobby".

The learning curb is vicious, but there are a lot of newbs with the recent expansions' release and it's subsequent "Gold Edition" which is $40 for the original game and it's expansion (the expansion is $30 so it's a good deal). Single player is also really fun, if a bit repetitive. It's better than the normal RTS campaign because it is more than "Defend this base for 4 minutes!" and "build an army and right-click the target on the other side of the map!"

Really fun though, I really like it. If you've played Company of Heroes you'll be familiar with it.

Its pretty understandable for anyone to get annoyed with me when I get belligerent in games.  I've been downright rude and obnoxious at points and have acknowledged that and made efforts to correct that lousy behavior on my part.  Re: being in an AFK channel while not really, I really don't know what the big deal is and never did.  I idle in an afk channel - that makes it nice and easy to pop in on folks I've been wanting to play with if I notice them when I'm online.  And everyone that I play with can view my status in steam, so its pretty obvious what I'm up to to all of my buds as I don't go offline in steam unless my pc is powered down.  Anyway, fair enough - guy has issues with me, I have issues with guy.

A matter of opinion.  I'm still up for a name change - Osmium Shift was never a name I put out there, though.  It was something kalel and a few others came up with without discussing with me in any way.  Then Kalel made his vent channel and called it that.  So, it doesn't realy make any sense for me to use that name.  But, if you do care about the name, I'm certainly up for discussions (here or in vent) of names that don't include the name "pacov."

I'm brain storming some ideas now, but am not coming up with anything all that interesting.

that said, I think posting an inflamatory post about him and wishing you never see him again is kinda in poor humor.

You might be right at that.  And perhaps it may have been in poor taste and childish at that.  Anyway, I was genuinely offended and hurt, I spoke my piece, I'm done.

Well actually I was referrring to Starcraft :P I didn't play the first one, at all, cause well that was when I was still on training wheels game wise Read: Mario Kart But I loved Warcraft III (even though I never played it online :( ) and reallly want to see how i would do in starcraft II...

Starcraft I was a bit before my time as well Mac. Warcraft III was definitely more my scene. I'm pretty bad at RTS games; I could never get above 50-51% win rate (none of the clans would let me in <X3  )

Usually human, but also night elf from time to time

I almost always cheese it up with mass steam engines, tower rushes, and the like.

Naturally, I played custom games, which inevitably led me to DotA, and then here.

We had alot of fun games tonight.  Here's a quick recap.  1st, the guys I originally started playing dg with picked up dawn of war2, so I'm looking forward to play some with and against them online.  The last I played with them was in borderlands (after they left dg), so I'm looking forward to getting in the occassional game with them as our timing works out.  Trouser will get his copy on Monday and hedgie has it, but we haven't hooked up outside of our first few games.

Onto what I actually played tonight:  trouser and I got some 3v3 games in where we'd pick up a pug.  Then Macillia joined us.  Then mauxe.  Then yeahneil and jaw8you.  Then brandon varn and his buddy, howboutnow.  And last, matchboxmatt.  So, we welcomed in quite a few folks to the vent tonight.  Thanks to everyone for making the time to play with us.  Demigod still has its painful bugs.  At one point, I think we had 9 of us in vent and decided to do a 5v5... but we had some delightful crashes.  Its DG, so we are used to it, but it seems like it been more common to me lately.  I even reinstalled the game tonight after crashing twice with trouser.  Also, trouser... START LOSING MORE.  People see your damn win % and don't want to play.  :)

Oh, and torchlight is on sale on steam for $5 now through Sunday or so.  Fun game, but its 1 player.  And Impulse got some old school games like duke nukem 3d and rise of the triad.  I'm thinking about picking those up for some fun here and there.

It is; but, they've recently made no cell and no potion mode so that you can be on par with lvl 99 players that have 3 soul cannons, a bajillion fear pots, and maxed out every stat. (in basic mode)

The new maps are SUPER COOL.

Seriously, basic NP NC team deathmatch with an archer is the most fun you'll ever have in a multiplayer game. Hacking has gone down substantially. (Albeit through dumb means, you can't minimize rakion or; it crashes.)

Do people still bitch when we mages spam fireball, can a black smith still drop every damn thing with 1 - 2 combos, have they given mages a more mage feel to them? Last time I played was between 7-8 months back and it still felt the same.

Didn't get on until late tonight, but got quite a few fun games in.  Started playing several games me + a pug vs irek + soccer_mom.  Soccer_mom's a tier 1/1.5 smurf account.  Aggressive style of play (pacov/orcun style), great map awareness.  Complimented irek well.  Weaker with a few characters, but very strong with most.  These were 2v2 games on cata with high gold to speed things along.  Games were all random.  Anyway, i kept having losses while I was pugging against these guys.  Then jaws8you joined me and we started trading wins and loses.  Fun games.  Even though I took a few beatings, I generally enjoyed the games.  I also got some games in with rawr/mcshane/jaws8/irek/soccer/ogham as well.  Fun games tonight.  Thanks to everyone that played.
