Each video is around 30 seconds or less, so just check them out for a quick review.
BTW, does anyone know of a better program than FRAPS for capturing game footage, since the freeware version only allows you to capture 30 seconds of footage (I was thinking of shelling out the $37 of my hard earned cash, but if a free one is available I'm game)?
Also, is there any way to increase the volume of the Intimidate ability? I can BARELY hear it as it is, but when phasers start to fire it becomes completely incomprehensible.
QuickToDraw, somebody uploaded and linked to an older Full version of Fraps a few pages back. I've also got a Fraps installer that's somehow made it's way to me from god knows where too.
I don't know if this has been said before or not, but I will submit this bug I came across last night. I was playing offline, as the Federation. Had two AI allies against 3 AI. One Ally, the Romulans, started to do this peculiar behaviour as seen in the screenshot links below. Instead of warping to a new system, their entire fleet starting going at regular speed, up and away from all the planets. Weird thing is, if I didn't watch my fleet too, they would automatically start to follow the same path unless I ordered them to warp to the adjescent system. If I zoomed out, I could not see the ships, as they were tied into the planet that they came from. I am not sure if its a bug in the mod, or the map or a rare bug for the game itself. I will post the map name here as soon as I go back in the game and find it.
EDIT: Entanglement was the map
My game CD after about 30 min starting a new game, if I reload where I saved it CD agin in 2 to 5 min.
I'm running Win 7 64bit
Gtx 285 with latest drivers.
I have tried useing the compatibilty tab, and it did nothing for it, any idea's please.
quick what about hypercam?
Widowmaker, what map are you playing and how many opponents on what difficulty are you facing? Also how much ram do you have?
Xfire allows you to capture in game footage for free. It also records sound, assuming you have a mic.
Plus, it allows you to take screenshots and ingame chat, etc. It's worth considering. It's what I use to record all my ingame footage.
I play Huge Multiplayer map, aginst 7 to 8 AI all on normal difficulty.
I'm running with 6 Gigs of G-skll ddr 3 1600hz ram.
With Intel Core I7 920@ 3.4
Yeah, that was me who uploaded that, but no go since it only allows up to 30 seconds of footage as well.
Thanks ice, I really like this one, is it the one you use?
I must say I have really enjoyed this mod. Thank you for your hard work.
Just a note, it is possible to take down a fully upgraded Borg Unicomplex solo. Just takes about 2 hours. This is how I accomplished it.
I play Federation, build a starbase just outside the range of the Unicomplex (Feds have longer range weapons) Then pump out Akira Class ships. The Tri-Cobalt Torpedoes have a greater range then the Borg weapons. Takes forever, but taking one out solo is a great accomplishment.
On a side note, no matter what map I play the Borg never seem to build Cubes. In perhaps 10-15 diffrent games only 1 cube ever. I normally play on 50-100 star maps. I have them set as aggressive and highest difficulty setting.

makes no sense i have a much lower grade platform and am able to play huge maps no problems. Recommend a full delete and re install of sins and mods. With out further info.
thanks jtaylorpcs

Yeah umm, your system is definitely not your problem. That's what I was going to suggest, but I only just now got home from school. Thanks jtaylorpcs. Maybe you could try just reinstalling the mod or deleting the Ironclad Games folder first before you reinstall the whole thing though.
A good defragging couldn't hurt either. Suggest using Piriform's defraggler (better than Window's crap).
I am sure glad they released a diplomacy patch BEFORE i got too deep in the 0.5D foundation...
LOL Running into some problems Stress?
Firstly I'd like to say thank you for this mod as it is brilliant and i'm thoroughly enjoying it, keep up the good work fellas its much appreciated.

Intresting i have the same problem myself and was wondering if anyone knew a way of kick starting the borg to get them to make there cubes and come kick my arse. Becuase as things stand now there a bit of a push over in every game i've played, even when on the highest AI setting and left alone for a long time to build up.

I have the same problem, except mine refuse to build Unicomplexes as well - they build the ship, but never the structure.
Yea I was looking into doing this, full reinstall. I tried a star wars mod last night and hit the same thing so its not this mod, but a bigger problem. Something must have missed up some ware, I installed useing Impulse, but I have a hard disk copy as well, so I'll try useing that. Later people and thanks for your imput.
One thing you have to understand about the Borg. They are slow builders, and researchers. We made them that way as part of the balancing. If they built, and researched at the same pace as the four factions it would be game over before it begins. Remember once we have everything balanced it will literally take four factions to defeat one borg faction, and they will have great difficulty if the Borg are fully researched. A fully researched, and entrenched Borg faction will be nigh unstoppable. That is our intention for the Borg.
The four factions objective is to defeat the Borg before they expand, and have time to research. It will be a race against the clock, but the four factions advantage is that they can build, and research faster than the Borg.
This will force the other factions to band together to defeat the Borg menace. Especially for the Diplomacy port. MP games are planed with only one AI Borg opponent. Same as skirmish games. How you play is really up to you, but this is our plan.
I wish there was a way to make the borg spawn in later in game as a full NPC faction, and the Four factions fought amongst themselves until the borg arrived, but sins doesnt have scripting like that.
When you do a clean install of sins make sure you delete the "Ironclad Games" folder in your appdata as well. This will ensure that there are no leftover files from a previous version of sins there that will cause problems.
If the borg are being extremely slow (slower than we intended), then we will look over all the statcounttypes for them again.

I just finished an excellent game, me as Romulin vs the Borg... I wrote about it in here somewhere.
I was able to take them down, including 2 good sized uni-complexes at once using my own starbases... I never saw a cube, but a lot of diamonds and spheres, which are bad enough themselvves.
But Stress, I noticed one particular thing about the Borg. Like everyone else said, they were going awful slow, and I knew from my scouts they had more than enough planets and labs to research and make cubes... but nothing. So I quit the game and restarted it, but this time I switched sides to see what the Borg AI had been up to. Most everything seemed fine, except for one glaring exception...
When I checked fleet supply I saw the AI had already maxed itself out... but researched only 1 capital ship. At this point in the game I only had maybe 800- 1000 supply points... whatever is about half. But the Borg had already maxed themselves out, and therefore were making almost nothing in credits or tritanium or dilithium... I had to do some serious rebuilding, adding trade ports and refineries just to start making any headway again before I switched back to my own side. In a weird way I was aiding the enemy...hehehe...
But seriously, in a war of attrition I would slaughter any enemy stupid enough to commit that much to fleet supply that early in the game. Especialy as a Romulin. I just have to cloak into a system, take out what ships I can, recloak and jump back out before I lose any of my own. Pretty soon I could whittle down an enemy to nothing and they wouldn't be able to rebuild nearly so fast as me.
Anyway, I was just wondering if this is always how the AI works, and if so maybe part of the reason it takes so long for cubes? If you have to commit 70% or whatever it is of everything to fleet supply, there's no way you'll raise 10,000 credits to research a cube and also replace current ships lost in combat.
Ship of the Week:
Galaxy Class Starship

Affiliation: United Federation of Planets
Role: Heavy Cruiser
Special Abilities: None standard. However, robust ship design makes for strong survivability and modular construction allows for outfitting with a variety of Starfleet technologies.
Following the destruction of the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-C) by technologically superior Romulan warbirds in 2344, Starfleet Command turned to the Utopial Planitia Fleet Yards to design a large, next-generation heavy cruiser capable of holding its own against such ships. While the ship architecture and warp technology progressed at a robust pace throughout the 2350s, disputes with Starfleet Command regarding manufacturing techniques and weapons systems resulted in those technologies being finalized less than a year before delivery of the Class Ship (NCC-70637) in 2363 (Note: these disputes ultimately led Starfleet Command to order Utopia Planitia to turn responsibility for the follow-on Nebula Class over to the Yoyodyne Division for construction at San Francisco Fleet Yards, a rift that led to numerous disputes and depressed starship production for nearly a decade).
Early experience with the Galaxy Class showed it to be an excellent design, with robust warp drive, shielding, and weapons systems. Nearly 50% more massive than the preceding Ambassador Class, the Galaxy had the internal volume to accommodate systems and equipment that had been ruled out in previous classes. In particular, holodecks for continuous crew training were determined to be an invaluable resource, and augmented social spaces reduced the "performance drop-off" of long deployments. However, Starfleet Command was dismayed to learn in 2364 that despite their attempt to create a cruiser superior to recent Romulan warbirds, the newly-commissioned Romulan D'Deridex Class was nearly twice the size of the Galaxy Class.
Although Starfleet Command initially envisioned a large number of Galaxy Class Starships, the disputes with Utopia Planitia slowed initial procurement. The loss of the USS Yamato (NCC-71807) in 2365 caused Starfleet to slow production further, and after the losses of USS Odyssey (NCC-71832) and USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D) in 2370 and 2371 (respectively), Starfleet Command halted construction and ordered a full review of the Galaxy program, focusing on previously unknown vulnerabilities (off the record, several flag officers claimed that Galaxy Class procurement was halted to allow for accelerated production of smaller classes of starships to make up for losses sustained during the Dominion War).
Although Utopia Planitia initially worried that the review would become a political opportunity to blame shortcomings on the shipyard, ADM Kellan’s even-handed and fair technical review and the subsequent design improvements were widely credited with repairing much of the rift between senior Utopia Planitia management and Starfleet. Not only were design flaws constructively discovered and corrected, Utopia Planitia and Starfleet managed to revise production techniques for Galaxy Class to reduce the number of unique components (particularly the girders underlying the Galaxy Class’s constantly curving hull structure and the hull plating itself), thereby reducing Galaxy Class acquisition cost and construction time by nearly 10%. Ultimately, Utopia Planitia was able to spin the review to its advantage, securing a sizable contract to apply the lessons learned to the new Intrepid and Sovereign Class starships designed by San Francisco Fleet Yards.
Although the future of the Galaxy Class has been widely debated due to the success of the smaller and more powerful Sovereign Class, Utopia Planitia has continued to secure contracts to design and backfit modern systems into the existing Galaxy Class starships. Further, the simplification of the Galaxy Class construction technology has allowed for other shipyards in Federation space to begin limited production of these starships. While Starfleet Command refuses to publicly state how long Galaxy Class procurement will continue, recent press statements from Utopia Planitia suggest that Starfleet has commissioned several Galaxy Class variants to take advantage of its large hull volume, potentially including both a large support cruiser and a battle-augmented variant.

P.S.
Sorry for my extended absence. Work on real ships calls
.
On the upside, I can prolly make it onto ICO this weekend, though since I haven't updated the times up above in a while it's doubtful anyone else will show. My fault.
Is there a way im not sure. But I can handle HUGE battles...to have the population cap increased? Or...better idea. Lower the amount of fleet supply it costs per unit? It seems to me that the Feds dont field a lot of units. hmmm maybe make it so the capital ships are not so high in pop cap. I want to be able to field MASS amounts of ships i guess? selfish of me i know ![]()
It's easy to do, just edit the entity files, either for the ships, or the fleet research techs.
