AI art

Hey. I've been interested in your game since I've heard good things about the first one and enjoy other space themed RTS.

The space battles do look good, but since staring at menus is a big part of strategy games I couldn't help but notice that a lot of assets are AI generated. Are these just placeholder art or is it final? AI art lacks cohesion, looks uncanny, generic and often doesn't make sense when you look more into the picture. I think it would be better to have a more primitive artstyle that would at least not catch the eye. Now, when I see that there supposed to be a "thing" drawn but it's not the "thing", just a blurry inbred imitation of the "thing" I don't feel immersed in someone's fantasy world, I feel like I'm having a stroke and can't recognize everyday objects. AI can be used for inspiration/composition etc. but at the very least these assets need to be retouched by human hands to bring cohesion and intention to the artwork

The game itself is very good gameplay wise, but my biggest negative comes from AI art. The portraits and such are ugly, yeah. But the biggest thing is the research screen.

In the original game, the research screen was pretty good, and you could determine what does what at a glance by looking at the thumbnails. The new AI thumbnails are generic and it is very difficult to find the tech you're looking for at a glance. You can spend minutes looking through the tech tree to find that one tech, while in the old game it would only take seconds.

Such a shame to because everything else is so well done.

I found this post while looking for information about the artwork because I think it's great, so I don't entirely agree with the people criticizing it. I didn't play the previous game, so I don't know how different it is, but just the way it is I really enjoyed it, and I don't think it's necessary to change the artwork. Maybe I would put it at the end of the task list if there's nothing else to do.
