I forgot to mention you would purchase the lease with the longest pay-back option and least amount of cash up front.

Lease-Buying to support a hasty defense? in Strategies Stardock Forums

If you are in danger of losing a planet and need an extra turn or two to stave off the Transports, is it a viable option to lease-buy a defensive ship of some sort (knowing it will be destroyed)? I guess my real question here is are you still paying the lease on a destroyed ship? Or do you have some sort of *terminal life insurance*? ;p ~SDC~
