Lease-Buying to support a hasty defense?

If you are in danger of losing a planet and need an extra turn or two to stave off the Transports, is it a viable option to lease-buy a defensive ship of some sort (knowing it will be destroyed)?

I guess my real question here is are you still paying the lease on a destroyed ship? Or do you have some sort of *terminal life insurance*? ;p

I forgot to mention you would purchase the lease with the longest pay-back option and least amount of cash up front.

You keep paying after it gets destroyed. They sold you a ship and they want their money back no matter what you do with the ship.

It's definitely a valid tactic for any but the most useless planets, especially if the enemy doesn't have warships in the area. Buy the cheapest available ship and it will prevent enemy troops from landing...
