Hmmmmmmmm... God Charles reveals heretofore unknown Death Star weapons theory garnered from "unnamed source"... ...God Charles hears "thunder" from sky overhead... ...Suddenly God Charles is gone... ...God Charles has not come back yet. Coincidence...or the saddest moment since Luke returned to Uncle Owen's? :::removing cap and bowing head in moment of silence::: (:(

Whenever I see that Alderaan death star firing scene all I can think is, "Whoa...RK surgery gone wrong." I think it would be pretty damn funny if an optical surgeon had a death star mock-up covering his equipment. You're lying there with your eyes propped open and the "Evil Empire" theme starts playing. "Now hold still...this won't hurt a bit." "What's wrong Ben?" "I just felt a disturbance in the force, as if millions of cornea cells cried out at once..." This m

Hammer I'm mostly an outsider when it comes to techie-game-post-jargon too, but I'll take a shot... :::engaging universal translator::: As near as I can figure, "nerfing" draws its analogy from the relationship between real toys and nerf (tm, circle R) toys. A real football is hard. It flies a long way. It hurts when it hits you in the head. (c.f. Marcia Brady) A nerf football is soft and squooshy. It doesn't fly as far. It's relatively harmless when it hits you

However, I noticed the response was quick when someone questioned some off-color (meant to be humorous) filler material in one of the game screens in a thread that has since been deleted. Apparently opinions on butt references and AI nitpicks merit strong responses but a major broken part of the game doesn't need that much attention. :p

*Bump*ing this thread because someone couldn't find it and started a new one with the same topic. I'll echo his thoughts (and my own again) by saying I hope this issue receives top priority. This is more important than fixing starbase cheese or AI tactics or whatever. At least the starbases and AI work as advertised (even though they can be exploited). Exclusive wonders *DON'T*. The analogy is too simplistic, but I'd prefer all four tires be firmly on the car before you worry about fine-tun

I'm sorry...to me this is a big deal. There is no greater thrill in a Civ-type game than that moment when you've won the race to build an exclusive wonder. The tension is thick in the turns preceding its completion, wondering if you're going to get it or if someone will pull the rug out under you. This is one of the best features of the genre! For me, it's the hook. The bug that allows multiple "exclusive" wonders is one of the first things I noticed when I bought and played the g

A lot of people seem to be upset with the Arceans. At least they put up a decent fight though. In every game I've played so far the Torians have been nothing but green-gilled surrender monkeys. Since they never surrender to me, it cheeses me off. :) Was the Torian AI was inspired by that guy who sings the pot-smoking song? Was gonna fight a war...but then I got high Build a battleship or four...but then I got high Now the Drengin own my systems and I know why Because I g

I think it partly depends on what kind of victory you're shooting for. I played a gigantic map (admittedly on lower level AI, but still) and achieved a cultural victory well before I got bored. In fact I wished the game had gone longer. But if you're trying for a military conquest and you feel obliged to mop up every piddly little planet, I can see where the endgame would drag. Isn't that kind of natural though?

>>By trade do u guys mean sending a freighter to antoher planet? Cause ive done this and all it does is increase my ecnomy by like 7bc. Yes...this is how trading is done. And by the way, "only" 7bc turns out to be a lot in the long run. (Even the longest trade routes often turn out to be "only" 9bc, so 7 isn't bad.) With trade increases and whatever wacky way the computer figures the economy, a couple of 7bc routes take you quickly from the red to the black. (Or the yellow to the

There is skill involved in the tech/trade good/ship aspects of trading and in knowing which races value which trade items. But the poster is exactly right in saying there is no skill involved in "topping off" the cash amount (or trading for cash alone) once those other questions are settled. It's merely a matter of typing in different cash amounts until you get a green light. It is very time consuming if you want to wring the last possible credit out of your trade. The "max cash" opt

Side note: I tried to look for other remarks on the question I just posted before I submitted it so I wouldn't waste everybody's time. It would be helpful when posting to put some detail in the subject line. There are dozens of posts with "Game Problem" or "Newbie Question" as the only subject. It's a pain to go through every one to see if it addresses my question. Just a thought...

I've played a couple of games now and I swear that I've built a wonder that says, "Only 1 in Galaxy" and then gotten the message that another race has built it too. This also appears to work in reverse, as exclusive wonders built by others still appear as available to build for me. Is this a bug or am I missing something? (Yes...I know the difference between 1 per race and 1 in the galaxy, so it's not that...)
