Why Altarians look human?

Is this mystery ever solved in the game? I've won a couple of times already, done extensive espionage on them, but never found anything on it. This answer should really have been included. Also, espionage on other races that revealed history about them would have been pretty cool, too. Maybe future updates can address this.

Actually they look like giant squids with dozens of tentacles and covered in a foul-smelling ichor, with more teeth than you can shake a stick at. They're simply projecting a psychic image as not to frighten the puny humans ;)

It was explained in another topic that some anciant race 'tainted' all that it came in contact with. This taint included looking like humans and Altarians.

Altarians are related to humans. But humans aren't Altarians.

In the mythology that the back story uses, there was a being called Draginol. This being, for reasons that the game doesn't go into, looked exactly like a human. During the course of events, Draginol shattered the Telenanth, a powerful crystal that he was trying to use to gain control of all creation. When the crystal shattered, the Mithrilar disappeared save two of them, Draginol and another one called Mascrinthus who doesn't come into this story.

Draginol, the humans, and the Altarians are related. But details of this are not gone into much detail presently.

And...they sound like they are always running out of breath when they talk...

'By Grapnar's (sp?) hammer!' ;)

You had me going until "Mascrinthus", Frogboy. Nobody could seriously think up a backstory for a game that used the name "Mascrinthus". :p

It's Grabthar's hammer. With a B.
Check IMDB's "memorable quotes" section if you don't believe me. :)

You know that movie didn't get enough credit, I thought it was an awesome parody of the whole star trek / sci-fi thing. It ranks up there with space balls in my book.

(Galaxy Quest, if you didn't know)
