I live in Belgium, downloaded the game and had the CD sent to me for $10. Customs didn't open this package - as they do with boxed games (:( - so: no tax. The invoice included with the package is also for $0,00 so I think the best thing you can do is buy it online and have the CD sent to you for $10. Maybe you can find someone who will download it for you and burn it on a CD so you can start playing ASAP :D
Belgium ... joined yesterday and looking for some time to play :-)
The problem I had was not that I couldn't find the ship on autopilot but that autoturn wouldn't work until I found the ship and disabled autopilot. Only after I sent that ship on autopilot again, autoturn would work...
Sometimes when I send a colony ship to a planet on autopilot, the ship shows that it is on autopilot but it won't go to the destination. Also when I press the 'FIND' button, those ships can't be found. I always have to search for them by hand, cancel autopilot and send them again. Since 'FIND' won't find the ship, autoturn doesn't work either until you find the ship. At this moment I can't find a way to repeat it but it happens occasionaly ...
I played them all with Winamp and they sound fine.
Today I installed GalCiv on my PC at home (WinXP). When I play the game, the music now sounds distorted, I only hear small fragments of music. This didn't happen on my PC at work where I run Win98. I already tried reinstalling everything from Drengin.net to soundcard drivers. I can't find any erros in the debug.err ... Both machines have a Creative SB PCI128 card.
Cool, I finaly got my account back to work (seti@home probs). So I'll be playing this last build again. Looking forward to the pre-beta's :)
When I launch a colony ship from orbit and I try to send it to a place directly above the planet, my screen starts to shake and the ship won't get past the planet. I first have to send it down and away from the planet first before it goes up. This doesn't happen always but it does happen quite often. Also, are there any keyboard shortcuts to save a game or to quit? Right now, with the escape key not working, I always have to ctrl-alt-del and kill the proces. And finaly, is it n
I just had that same problem but it started when I tried to colonize a planet that was already targetted by another civ.
I played GalCiv for a few hours now and I also came across some minor issues. First, sometimes there are gaps in the fog of war. There are squares that become light grey before that area has been discovered. I also have the escape button problem so I can't bring up the options menu ... I don't know if this was done intentionaly but when you are building a ship, selecting another cancels the building of the first one so you have to start all over again. The gam
