hi,
i am very excited to see this program grow as time goes on.
my main question is if we will be able to make turn based grand strategy type games/ 4x games. That would be my number 1 game type. I have no interest in platforming, with Mario maker 2 coming out.
Hopefully this will be possible in the future.
any thoughts?

We've had requests for 4x / strategy, and while we plan on incorporating many systems from those genres (Fog of War, Resource Management, Enemy Waves, etc) I fear those genres are simply too complex to put into VGM, especially when we're doing our best to avoid complexity.
VGM has a long road ahead of it, so we'll we where it goes. Perhaps we'll have a brainstorm and figure out a fun & easy way to get those genres in, but as of right now there are no plans.
I would like to see a turn based strategy game too, and real time strategy. I think it would be doable if you give them rule sets to chose from. This probably require complexity. I'm hoping there will probably be a future strategy game maker in the future.
I was looking at this article of the best video games the year you were born and was thinking about how fun it would be to make a Pac-Man non-clone with VGM. And PONG!
