Demigod Clans - Clan pacov

Demigod Clans - Clan pacov

There's another post that cover's alot of this, but this thread is specifically for clan pacov.  Here's the other thread:

http://forums.demigodthegame.com/374590

Here we go:  there aren't alot of demigod clans out there.  The game CURRENTLY has less than 500 people that play together at any given time online.  I can't back that number up, but I think that's fairly reasonable based on what I've seen.  Out of those 500 or so players, many of those players many have bad connections and some outright cheat.  You probably don't want to play with them.  I probably don't either.  So, getting a group of people together that don't cheat or have bad connections is a pretty good idea IMO.  Plus, coordinating a team in demigod is MUCH easier if you have voicechat.  Let's do that too. So - players with good connections + players that use voicechat (at least to listen in) = clan pacov.  Its pretty much an all welcome scenario so long as you fit that criteria.  Here's the info you need to join voicechat:

Here is where you can download the client (its free):   http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php

Here are instructions on how to use ventrilo to connect to a server:  http://www.ventrilo.com/setup.php

Here is the public vent info:

Lagwars vent
Hostname:  Oxygen.typefrag.com
Port:  50216

Once you join the vent, PM someone in clan pacov.  Each of our channels are password protected but there are plenty of public channels to idle in and people clan pacov check out the pub channels from time to time.

Here's what we deliver.  You get more balanced games with people that don't cheat.  I regularly balance games out to encourage more people to play with and against us.

Ask questions if you have them and any clan pacov specific discussions belong here (casual, serious, etc).

Clan Pacov Mission Statement:

Clan pacov isn't about forming team super premade.  Its about frequently getting fun games going and occassionally getting some really competitive games going as well.  We welcome like minded, non-devisive individuals interested in playing games on a semi-regular basis.  We don't welcome people who cheat at games.  We will mix up teams to make things fun.  We will all generally be using voicechat.  We will play with and against each other.  We will play with and against other clans.

FYI - the clan channel is most active between 6PM-2AM EST daily, but people are on all hours of the days

Mauxe - honestly I haven't paid enough attention in the recent games that we've played together (all 2 of them or so) to really form an opinion regarding tier (if I remember right, you were on my team, so you must not have done anything all that wrong).  I'll be sure to pay attention the next few times we play and will make a recommendation for tier 2 if appropriate.  Or I'll tell ya what I think offline.

Re random clan news.  Still discussing possible names on and off with trouser and hedgie.  Galactic Hedgehogs, Grits and Gravy, blah.  Several folks have recently expressed an interest in clan membership.  Here's a little random history in case your are interested:

Clan pacov was originally a clan that was just a few people that enjoyed playing together.  I expanded that by recruiting some folks personally and welcoming people into our little club (we weren't even really called a clan at the time).  At our height, I think we had about 8 folks or so that go together on a regular basis and played.  And we always had some people that would play with us, but didn't really think of themselves as part of our clan.  I never even thought of us as clan - just people that enjoyed playing games with each other.

Anyway, eventually, there was some internal conflict with some of the core folk and we branched off.  There's still some animosity there, but mostly everyone is civil.  And that brings us to how things work today.  I generally hang with trouser and he and I typically enjoy playing a variety of games together.  If are looking to play demigod, we generally host 3v3 games and pick up a pug or see who is on lagwars vent and try to get into a big game.  There are 3 channels in lagwars vent that are generally dedicated to DG.  GM's channel, Osmium Shift, and clan pacov.  So, we check those channels and if people are free, we get a nice big game going.

The real clan pacov is really the group of folks that I enjoy playing with and enjoy playing with me.  I've recently started welcoming new folks that have expressed an interest in clan membership and we'll see where things end up.

Cool.  We'll hook up before too long.

random pacov news.  I was having some very obnoxious stability issues with Demigod recently.  I'd say, crashes in 60-70% of all of my games.  I built a new computer from scratch about a month or so ago and also flashed the firmware on the router to dd-wrt.  Something in the changes led to the instability.  And of course, the only stability issues I had were in Demigod.  Anyway, I went to fairly ridiculous ends to resolve the problem.  Fresh install of OS, installing latest drivers in recommended sequence, installing dg, verifying install of dg, playing with and without mods enabled, disabling reverb in sound settings, following the_monks connectivity guide to a T.  All said and done, I'm leaning towards the issue being caused by one setting on my router that was influencing the way packets were getting filtered.  Anyway, I got in about 9 games last night.  The 2nd game crashed, but then I changed the packet filter option on my router and had 0 crashes afterwards.  So, I really hope it wasn't a fluke or anything, but I feel like I've got DG back to being as stable as it ever was for me, if not a little more stable.

Plans for the upcoming tournament are moving along.  I'm hopeful we can lock down the character selection rules today.  And we have a cash prize > $100 now.  Should be exciting stuff for our little community.

Registration has closed on the tournament.  I'm getting ready to start pairing up free agents and get some brackets going.  Some teams should be very challenging for me and trouser.  Looking forward to it.

I haven't been able to play quite as much these past few days due to a death in the family.

I'm so sorry to hear that Pacov. I hope you and the rest of your family members are all doing ok.

If there's anything we can do to help with organizing the tournament, feel free to ask.

Back to work in the morning.  Really looking forward to the DG tournament.  For those of you that aren't paying much attention to it, we have quite a few good teams and it looks like we've successfully pulled back some people that had previously given up on DG.  The prize money is at $170 as of today.  Anyway, I'm considering shutting down the whole clan pacov thing again.  I'm not really looking to train up new folks at this point and we already have a decent sized community going on lagwars.  I'll keep the lagwars channel going in the meantime, but its not really needed anymore, imo.  My apologies to those of you that have expressed an interest in joining clan pacov recently, but I doubt I'll be doing this much longer.  Thanks to everyone that ending up on lagwars with clan pacov as your gateway drug.  Hopefully this tournament gets us even more folks on lagwars and helps us keep dg alive for some time!

Also - I just got into the starcraft beta.  You can too.  Gamestop just went live with a promotion so that If you pre-order starcraft II, you get a key to the beta inside of 24 hours.  But it gets a wee bit better.  Starcraft II runs $59.99.  If you spend $100, you can use a 25% off coupon code + free shipping (I think you can do in store pickup if you prefer though).  I got God of war 3 + starcraft II + the scII beta for $88 including tax.  Not too shabby, imo (considering both games retail for $60 a pop).

Officially preorder the game at gamestop and you will have done the exact same thing I did today.  10 hours later and I have beta access.  And don't hate me - I'm paying for the privilege.

Yeah - read reply 412 above.  If the coupon code is still active, you can get a good deal on this too.

So - additional details.  It took about 9 hours for me to get the beta code from gamestop.  It instructs you to connect to www.battle.net and add the beta key they provide to your battle.net account.  If you don't have a bnet account already, you can create one in advance.  From battle.net, once you have added the beta to your account, you can download the starcraft II beta downloader.  The download is about 1.6 gigs and download speeds from blizzard weren't all that blisteringly fast, but I think I was about to download that in about 50 minutes.  After that, you run the install file the downloader grabbed and starcraft II starts patching itself.  I just kicked off that process when I left for work this morning, so I have no idea how long that takes.

Anyway, I'll be playing tonight after work.  Trouser also picked up the game and should have his game installed and be ready to play by then :)

I have been on a gaming semi-hiatus as we are in the middle of selling a house/buying a new house/moving/whatever...

I don't know about SC2 - you'll have to keep us posted with your impressions pacov (and trouser).  I may look at it once I get settled.

Hey guys - impulse has a good deal going on this weekend for those of you that are into SP games and don't buy them the second they come out.  Call of juarez:  bound in blood (eg call of juarez 2) is on impulse for $10.  Its on steam for $30.  This is a good price for a fun SP experience.  I just picked it up. Solid deal!

Side note, though - red dead redemption is due out in 3 days that will blow this game away, but I'm certain there is quite a bit of fun to have with this game - especially for $10!

edit - lolz

So, I'm checking the current deals online and I came across another game offered on impulse... determinance... here's the description:

Determinance is a multiplayer sword-fighting PC title. The movement of the mouse corresponds directly to the movement of the sword, so only your skill with a blade matters. Slash wildly or creep in for a stealthy strike: it's up to you. Oh, and did we mention you can fly?

FUUUUCCCCKKK YEAH - you can fly.  heh.  Ah.. game descriptions - they crack me up.

I've had a spare beta key for ages. OH WELL *Throws into bin*.

Gold league represent (1 v 1 / 2 v 2).

I had a match yersterday where me and my tag teamer killed like 100 morrarders with about 30 marines/8 tanks/2 colossus/lots of zealots and a hole load of sentries. Micro'd to the win. I thought we would lose for sure because of the the damage morraders do to machines.

I'm Teseer.ryan in the SC2 Beta, hit me up :D

Just had it for like 2 days, but im thar.

(BTW: Why the fuck was 'Teseer.cook' considered 'Offensive'?)

My friend couldn't put his nickname as Popinjay as he usually does. SC offense filter is a bit on the extreme side.

After I did Teseer.ryan (obviously my name) I was like "Fuck, I should of been Teseer.tb!"

Can't figure out how to change it.

But yeah, anyone play still? I got Zerg/Toss down, next is Terran! (been saving them for last, were my fav from SC1)

Edit: Why the fuck do I always type '/' for '.'
Ugh.
