Is there much interest in a banlist type site for the game?

I'm not quite ready to unveil it just yet but I'm working on a banlist type site similar to those for dota and other games.

Is there much interest in this?

What would you like to see?

What would you like to NOT see?

Thanks

Hmm, when you say DotA I can't help but to think you want to put up a banlist on people for just being new to the game. If its for poor attitude, Stardock is planning on implementing a karma system for poor attitude players.

Also you can easily change your ingame name through impulse, so I'm not sure a 3rd party banlist will be effective.

No nothing like that. I see what you mean though. It's more for people you generally had a poor experience with, Whether that is an attitude, or a disconnect, or a crappy pc... whatever it is.

It will list why you put them on the list and also allows for people to appeal their ban status.

Well personely i'm against banning people from something they paid cold hard cash for. A temporary ban of a few hours is not bad though, but nothing permanent or else you are just being a tyrant.

No it's nothing like that. It's a list for individuals to use. If they see someone join a game who has been reported as a leaver or otherwise they know that it's much more likely he will screw the game up and boot him beforehand.

Could you explain a lil bit more? Who updates this list etc, do people need to download it as a sort of plug-in? Do you plan on sending this to Stardock or are you planning to make this a stand-alone? I gues its similar to people writing peoples names on a piece of paper after they screwed the game up so that they can kick him in a later game or warn people about him/her?

Banlists are stupid.  Stop whining about your team.

It's essentially the latter. No plugins or downloads or anything like that.

Just a central place for people to list players who caused a bad experience and why.

Argh, banlist....

I heard that 100+ bans are added every single day in DOTA banlist....

Personal banlists are fine.  I ran my own personal banlist for dota for a very long time and weeding out douchebags who you had seen leave your games before was a great help.

As soon as you start talking about some centralized database or sharing lists is when the problems begin.  There is simply no one with enough authority to moderate these mass bannings as legitimate or not.

Ok, let's get this started.  I nominate alban987 for starting a banlist "similar to those for dota".

And if you refuse to do so, then I've pointed out the inherent flaw of a banlist maintained by one person.

Well... as it happens...

Man, when I was playing DotA heavily I probably added close to 100 a day myself.

Banlists are just a personal list of players you never want to play with again for whatever reason you deem worthy. It's a local list so it's not like this person is going to be banned by the world unless they're a moron. I don't see how a website is going to work at ALL. I'm not going to alt tab to search every person in the game before I launch.

Banlist for WC3 would search your personal banlist in real time, if a banned person came in it gives an audio cue "Banned player detected" and pastes to you clip board the reason they were banned. You can have it just auto kick that person out of the game.

Frogboy said something like this was going to happen in game where you have a personal banlist. I'd prefer a 3rd party program because of their versitility myself.

Just bumping this to point out how alban went ahead and created this site anyways, since he wants to be big, important and the center of attention. Kiss his butt and all of your enemies will be blacklisted and none of your friends! When me and about a dozen other people added alban to the list for reasons every bit as legitimate as "rage quitter", all of our bans were removed.

Also, banned for epic php failure.

Don't worry I already kicked him out of a custom game last night for being on my ban list.

thanks alban!

No real interest here, but if its a real issue for some, then cool.  Thanks for checking it out and taking some action!
