Ships Designs upgraded, but lose design!?

I have a few user created designs that I love. In game, when i try to "upgrade" that ship design via the "upgrade" button, it removes all of the parts so its just the hull.

How do I get GalCivII to keep the design while I upgrade? ANYONE?

In the v1.0 it did not remove any components, then in v1.0X it began removing all functional (keeping eye candy) components, in v1.1 there is an option setting in the Options menu (default the v1.0X behavior) for you to choose which behavior you want.

Go to the Options menu, and switch to the Interface tab.

Under the Ship Designer section there is this option:
- Remove Functional Components When Upgrading a Ship Design

If this is checked, all of the functional components (like engines, weapons, etc) will be removed, leaving just the hull and jewelry/structures.

Uncheck it and the ship will remain in tact when you upgrade it.

Similar problem happened to me.

I am using some of the custom ships from the library and when I upgrade them (with the new beta 2 version) I loose all the ship jewelry. But not the components (I unchecked the Remove Functional Components When Upgrading a Ship Design option).

Am I the only one who has this problem ?

Ok...the option for "REMOVE FUNCTIONAL COMPONENTS..." is clicked off...and if I click it on and click "UPGRADE" the ship design is entirely removed leaving the plain starting hull with the functional components randomly placed on it.

What gives? All I want is it to remove the functional components but keep my designs intact.

I have beta 1.2.

thanks for all those who have replied, and yet will reply.

Bump

Ok, all of my old custom designs can NOT be upgraded and keep the design intact. It just leaves the plain hull after clicking "UPGRADE".

However, if I make a new design, and upgrade that design, it keeps the design. What the!? Help! I have a lot of cool designs I want to keep!
