Does the AI get ship cheats?

Not exactly how to word it, but does the AI get cheats in its ships? For instance does it get more space to put in stuff or are it's components smaller? I thought the AI only got an econ boost past Intelligent, if the AI gets more bonuses, exactly what else does it get?

Because I dunno what else is going on in my current game. I saw an enemy frigate (Human, crippling difficulty) and I looked at its details and it had:
Medium Hull
Warp Drive (+3 speed)
Laser Mark V x5 (+5 beam)
Enhanced Deflectors (+1 shields)

I said, ummm I can't make this ship. I go to my ship builder and I can fit on Warp Drive and 5 Laser Mark V's for 38/41 medium hull space. I even have Superior Deflectors (better than Enhanced) and those take 6 space and give + 1 shields. So I say maybe it's something weird with minituarization. Nope, we both have +10% mini (I looked up mine in my abilities and his via espionage) Using version 1.0X.1, only mod I am using is some logos downloaded from the Galciv2.com Library (if you can call those mods)

I have seen AI with ships that seem impossible to build but always just figured I was missing a military starbase in stealth mode or that he had large +weapon or +defense bonuses. This is the first time I actually checked it out. I have the screenshots and saved game but nowhere to upload them. So what's going on here? I hope I'm just missing something obvious (maybe some weird super project or galactic wonder?)

Could be a bug?
Dont think the AI is supposed to get any bonuses at that difficulty.

It could be they had more advanced miniturisation technology then you? It would allow them to squeeze more in. If not had they built the Hyperion shrinker?

Well, it would appear in that they have the same. As he has written:

So there is something weird. But the title shouldn't include "cheat". Bug or weirdness would be better.

In any case, you should send a savegame to gc2bugs@stardock.com (they compress nicely) along wit halla explanations explaining why you think there is something strange.

Perhaps the bug is that the spy report does not take all Minituarization bonuses into account.
Or they built that ship at a time they had a bonus which has since been gone/destroyed.
Or they received that ship from another Civ with more min. ability.

Minituarization increases the size of each Hull. It's possible their medium hull has 41 space max.

It's not always 100% transparent, but freak resources found, anomalies bonuses from early in the game to trade goods might influence things. Also, one decision in council is to share star bases benefits with allies so maybe a bonus or two "appeared out of nowhere" this way. Or they might have gotte the ship from the Yor who have extra mini (I think)

It would really be lame if it was an actual cheat.
