I like loose clusters just because I can take over my little corner and then usually have a nice buffer zone between me and the other major powers. In tight its just too hard to expand fast and on scattered you are right up next to the comp and often in the begging on higher dificulties you planets will flip on you due to the AI's culture advantage. ~SDC~

Okay mmilitary might also matters and so does how close you are to the power you are trying to ally with if they are seperated by another major power they view you as less useful as it would take longer to reach their planets also if your military is quite puny they will no get to close because they view you as a burden if a war were to start. ~SDC~

Okay easy way to get military victory is just get a huge tech lead trade all your techs for all the major powers ships go to war and then make peace and get a few planets. Repeat going to war and peace as necessary as no limit o how many times you can go to war a turn and since you just bought all the ships in the game except colony ships they wil easily capitulate planets also this gives you a huge score as you military is huge influence goes up as you gain planets and just jack social spending

1) Okay first of all the computer will usually outproduce you at the beginning so just don't even try second never set your sliders to 100%. 80% is okay but at 100 it is a pretty useless unless you really want that tech to help out in a war. 2)15 pq planets are fine you just need to first always get soil enhancement on them second build a entertainment network this keep you okay with moreale for a while while you build up other projects. 3) to fight an offensive war against the

not sure if this is a bug or not. but you can declare war on a power major or minor make peace and get some extra stuff in the process then give another power you declaring war against the one you just made peace with. Then you can make peace again and get more stuff. You can only give declaring war once to each power but with 4 majors and 3 minors you can gain a lot of stuff from another major power. When I did it I gained 22 planets which was all they had. ~SDC~

Okay not sure if this is a bug or what but I was at war with Yor outnumbered them by a heck of a lot and with rangers with about 60 attack to their dreadnaughts with 22 and made a peace treaty with them and got a couple planets. Then gave the altarians me declaring war on Yor just went back to yor on same turn and made a peace treaty again and got a few planets. I repeated this with every major power for the diplomacy bonus it give and I couple minors and gained about 16 star systems in the proc

I do the same thing on masochistic and it still works well Just build up a military on a few worlds instead of constructors and you the comp will leave you alone as you slowly convert the galaxy and to be really mean I traded a bunch of techs for the other races starbases and gained even more influence. ~SDC~

Yep it is just based on luck and also the AI tries to destroy MOnsters and pirates as soon as they appear so even if this does happen The AI may just blow them up before you see them. ~SDC~

Okay first off building a fleet of combat transports as a defense is kinda pointless as they suck money away and are useless to actually attack anything. also what happens when all the sudden the AI gets Rangers, avatars, and overlords those nice fleets of your transporst will get blown to pieces. Yes they are good at defense but why waste the money unless the U.P gave em better weapons just spend the little extra amount of time and money on building ships the enemy will be afraid of as the enem

Well starships change image so as not to confuse people because having ships that look the same on all sides would get confusing. And you keep all bonuses the are permanant such as shipyards and such used to build it but tech and abilty upgrades do not transfer. ~SDC~

Also as most minors only have a capital and capitals are almost impossible to flip this makes it very hard to flip minors but why AI planets with no capital will flip to your side. ~SDC~

Also population grows depending on how much population you hace a planet with 40 people will grow at a much slower rate then a population of 400. To stay on even ground always try to colonize planets with around 300-400 people this will keep your growth up and not bog you down with planets that grow at a slow rate. Also if you are growing slowy just to some population movement and take people from populos planets and move them to planets with few people. ~SDC~

Invaded a planet used information warfare had 1.06 billion left at battle end get to game screen and I have a population of 214768 on the 2 planets in that system both planets are pq 18. I wanna know where the extra 416 billion people came from I can't use the view population button anymore because that one system covers over half the minimap on a gigantic galaxy. ~SDC~
