My last game had me versus the Torian with all other races, except 2 minors gone. I had heavy trade with one and the other was at war with Torians like me. Relationships with minors both sat on "friendly". To tip the scale I gave them every tech I had; which was considerable since I was finishing up Researching the Wormhole crap. BAM- instant friends. I allied with them and sent the Carinoids to fight more aggressively thanks to new tech (no, a Carinoid OVerlord is not a myth!)

Ha- in this game I stopped the Dregin from even getting off their rocks. I killed their Survey ship right away with mine (got a weapons uprgade rigth away in the first coupld of anomolies.) We started two sectors apart, so they had to be delt with promptly. I kept around as my lap dog but killed off anything they put into the "air." I think they even asked for mercy at some point... I shot them the finger.

So I'm enaged in a two front war against the Altarians and Torians. I've out researched them as far as ship weaponry and armor. All three of us have Dreadnaughts. I'm playing the "Unwanted SOlicitor" tactic (put a Dreadnaught at every one of their systems' doorstop and destroy everything they make) whern I get the prompt "the Altarians have discovered several PreCursor ships, they are Corvette class." Big whoop right? Yeah, it wasn't that big of a deal except for the fact that there we

yeah same here CM, I had a fleet (5+) of avatars LEVELED by one or two Rangers with Arcean markings. I love when you leave the "grace of god" race alone (even though you are advised to do otherwise) only to have them say "You have been a great ally, but we feel it is better to deal with you now, rather than later... sorry." OOPS! MY DRINK SPILLED ON THE KEYBOARD AND HIT "CNTRL+N", I SWEAR TO GOD! -HrK-

Well, ok but I've been able to research "Master Race" AND "The Better Way" within a few turns of each other. But was not able to research "The Dark Side." So this leads to believe whether or not Master Race is strictyly evil. No matter, good or evil, still a questionable choice for a name. :notsure:

I've played many games where I build up forces or bases and one of the lackies get their panties in a twist and threaten me. My question is, why can't the player do the same. There has been many a time where I wanted to tell the comp to "slow it's roll and gEt," but can't without going to war 'requesting" they give me the item(s). Surely this can be worked on. I once had the UP item come up about sector control equals rights to anomalies. Well the vote won and since I had 90% o

I will try not to touch the "Master Race" tech with a 10 foot pole... I will use an 11 foot pole. WTH were they thinking with the title of this tech. The firs time I saw it, i had to look twice. After reading it's description, I realized what it was about but thought that a different name could have been used; like "Perfect Human." The use of "master race" seems like it could open a world of trouble- like sharing a sector with I-League!! -HrK-

yeah the espionage area is a train wreck as far as the rest of the game is concerned. I mean, what exactly are you paying for anyways? Info? Bah... how about more DETAILED info, plans, or even a set of options for events/ tactic to employ (assasinate, coup, etc.) "Drengin are moving ships into position to invade sector 69-69, we have a trade partner/ starbase/ planet in this area. What are your orders?" Personally I could give a rat's ass to know that they are researching Porn Network o

Unrelated- but still a graphic glitch. I've noticed in EVERY game of the current build that I play, that if i start anywhere besides top left corner; the unrevealed area there has a block along the very edge of the galaxy that IS revealed. It's boxed shape and about the size of four dreadnaughts in a tight cluster. just FYI, don't think it's my grfx card, but that remains to be seen. -HrK-

The notion of a "peace keeper" stance is quite intriguing. I've had the UN resolution about peace keeping with trade frieghters in mind- but I think it SHOULD be able to spread into the general framework of the game. I've had a few games where I just wanted to maintain peace and order and tech overdose. But it usually meant me beating up ALL the races back into the stoneage (or at least pre-colonization age.) Where then, everyone hates me... hmm, sounds a lot like our current American foreign po

I created a pol party that included negative values into the bonus column- worked quite well, but still too appealing because all the AI's picked the same thing. :S but I'm working it. For those interested, the bonuses were good pluses on war making and waging attirbutes (i.e. hitpoints, weapons, repair, etc etc.) but had negative values on morale, pop growth, creativity, diplomacy, etc etc. One negative I used WAY to much was Sensors; the value I gave it made scouts nearly use

The Color values in the politcal party DO work in latest build of game. I made a political party called the Conquerors (think War Party with a Republican's appreciation of military might) and altered the color values to all have 15 and the political party appeared black (my goal) in the senate window. Now it was a little TOO dark, so I will add a 10 spot to each to make it more grey and it should be sweetah. -HrK-

I've gotten a 63 with no mods, but I was wondering for those rare few that have seen higher: does it change color scheme again? Or once it reaches 26 and turns that Irradescent, 80's funk neon "utopian" color, does it STAY that way for all future "upgrades?" I mean that seems a little weak, you get different color schemes for the planets calss 1- 20, then it's the same from 20-25 and 26 thru 120 is the same?! (I'm in the arts as an occupation, so things like this pick at me.) Granted,

I think the bigger question is "what's the point." Everything in this game seems to be part of the puzzle and a means to an end... yet these useless techs... wtf? I mean the only thing they would do is allow Tech Victory. Other then that- why waste time and money? Personally, it'd be nice to STILL have usefull techs to achieve instead of these big teases. Pretty disappointing copmared with the rest of the game's focus on A begets B, B begets C, and if you aren't careful D will bite y

Naming your Empire I find fun and themetic. If you are going for a conquer game: Terran Dominance, or Terran Omnipotence, etc. I like having real government forms as part of Empire's name. On the off chance that I'm not alone in this endeavour, here is a site: http://phrontistery.50megs.com/govern.html that will offer TONS of names and ACTUAL types of governments that you may want to use. Some of them are very odd and funny ;). Examples: kakistocracy-- gover

This may have been mentioned, but the bug with the Minor Logos being different from galaxy view and negotion window. It's annoying to have a logo that represents one minor race on the galaxy be representative of another race in the trade/negotiation window. Sometimes I forget who I'm talking to !

Well, actually i've seen my Overlords owned by Rangers. The key is they have to get the initial attack and have time to repair. But yeah, Rangers with 65+ attack and Avatars with 100+ belonging to some Righteous Arceans owned my whole fleet last night. So much waste.

DOH! It happened again... only this time all the major races were neutral or evil (randomizer) and they were apparently the "good guys." Well since my major trading partners were evil- they saw me as evil! The only thing that gave me hope was that they were on the other side of a gigantic galaxy! I've never seen the minor races use Survey ships- but the I League had one (I think one of the other races gave it up, but not sure.) None the less, they came for me like they came for the ot
