i have sins + sins entrench. want t obuy diplomacy but so far the only way i can find t oget it is to buy trinity- paying for 2 games i already own yet again. am i missing something here?
ty for response. unfortunatley i have latest vid & mouse drivers &i disable pointer trails,etc just becuase of sillyness like this. what makes this so frustrating is i have played this game just fin under win 7 before. only difference is the hardware upgrades mentioned above.
ive looked all over the place but most references r t owin xp or things ive tried. it only happens in sin so i figure its got to be a setting of some kind-just dont have a clue.
i just reinstalled sins entrenchment with the concept of playing and getting the new addon if i got back into playing it like i used to. rt now the game is basically unplayable as the cursor keeps flickering- sometimes dissapearing for 2-4 secs. i just upgraded my comp to a faster intel gpu, faster nv gpu, ssd, & dbl ram. all drivers and os r same. any & all help appreciated.

i did complete uninstall, deleted leftover files & reg entries, & new install. added mods, & so far(5 planets in) everything is running smooth. ses wha thappens down the road.

i far exceed the req & it is a brand new install... but ty for advice. one of the reasons i hate not having a hard copy of game(i have vanilla sins but entrench was thru stardock), lot less room for error when installing original from disk. when u say 'little... no issue' what probs are u having? i am running a water cooled q9550 @ 3.4 4 gig mem at 1600 7/7/7, 280 gtx @ 648 1404, & both hd are raptors. & the oc's are utterly stable:)

to confirm(someting i already knew) i played non modded entrench & got my first dump 3 colonys in. wich prolly means by the time i get to 6-7 colonies it will be unplayable. obviously since some of u are playing it with little t ono probs, i have an issue. since i am using win7 64 i am wondering if it is os dependent- what os's are being used by those with little to no probs?

skyboxes & bllom are turned of. the thing that has me confused is that i used to play this game with this mod back before the last sins update. outside of some minor issues that were fixed in this forum, never had this problem. & was running the game with boxes & high/med combination settings.

i already turned everything down to med. but ty for suggestion & especially the info. it happened very early in the game- only 2 planets colonised & very small fleet.

well, minidumps. first time for that. u less someone gas a suggestion(pls:)) i think ill wait till u guys are able to free up some time. hopefully your next update fixes? not saying its your guys issues(its not) just hopin u can fix it :) u would think their would be an official patch for some of the more common problems by now.

well,why don't you actually try reading it all. there is very little related to this problem in this thread, & if YOU had read it all, you would know that I have tried it all, including some stuff from tech support, who, as i posted earlier has stopped responding along with the mod for this thread. maybe i have missed something, but the only 2 solutions are reinstall & the mp3 download. check my emails for the rest of the info. if you have something helpful- cool & thx. if not, check out the res

CariElf - i installed the program, actually got to play about 40 turns without ctd. smart exception did not pick up anything when it did though. worth a try. any other ideas? even though it went so long this time before ctd i am not optimistic about it being that way every time. fyi i also have a dialogue going with suppor. thx

well i just tried playing again & the have had 2 ctd's already. guess my lats run was a fluke. though they seem to happen less commonly. still under 10 turns though wich makes this game unplayable. i still think it is either audiy2 &/or media player9 & something about 1.05. those are the only difference from my previous 1.03 install. anybody else having problems that they think might be related? fix? :(

carielf. thx for reply. i do not have any of those progrms. the only media related program is media player9 & now rad tools. i have been in communication with tech support. seem to have fixed the problem. i ran about 15 turns without any ctd. that is a massive improvement. will not be able to do any long term testing till next week. i let you know. thx mike.
i have been having sound related problems too. only mine are ctd every 3-7 turns. turn of dound problem stops. the thing is i have a audigy2. so sound problems are not just happening with your card. there is another audigy2 owner with similar problems in the 1.05. thread. i hjave tried everything you did & no results either. i think it is a conflict between media9 & the game. jmo. :notsure:
bump! i have reinstalled everything. again. problem still there. somebody has to have seen this & hopefully knows a fix.
i just did a new install on my computer. no problems with game in old install. no i get ctd's every 2-7 turns. if i turn the sounds of it seems to work with no problems. the only 2 changes i made are- upgrading media player from xp pro default to newest vers. & upgrading sb live5.1 to audigy2 with newest drivers. i already posted this in the 1.05 bug thread. a member told me about the codex download & how to install it. it did not help. so far tech support wants me to run the game without sound.

ran the game twice. ctd within 4 turns both times. this game is basically :(unplayable for me now. again, it worked fine before clean install & the only difference now is media 9 & audigy2 over sblive5.1 & xp's native vers of media player. anybody have a clue? bty thx again wdll.

found it in the sys32 file! did the job. thx! now just hope it all works. i also uninstalled/reinstalled the game & ran dxdiag. everything looks good. keep fingers crossed.
