Played for about an hour or so before lock up. Conquered a couple of sovereigns and a bunch of cities. Had 5 new conquered cities all building roads back to my capital and then on one city, I did a road build to a newly conquered city on each turn for three turns in a row. Then I hit next-turn again and it just sat there for about 10 minutes before I had to ALT-CTRL-DEL and use Task Manager to kill the process. Running it on 1440x900 resolution on Vista x64. Als

Actually, that would be pretty cool to be able to specialize cities like that. Then, you could learn a teleport spell or portal spell and even if your city is under siege, you could still get supplies in and out (so much for sieging someone with that spell)! Or, if the enemy did not entirely surround the city (maybe there are two roads and they only blockaded one of them) then you could still make use of those regional buildings.
It is an interesting idea indeed. However it would be difficult to program the movement (especially the user interface) and as a user you can allways split the army into several smaller armies to prevent this. So I think it won't work.
But if you split up your units and move them seperately, then they would not be considered an army any longer and would not attack with the rest of your units. Besides, if you want a ver

What if others from another world would then take note and initiate on your newly conquered world lest they fear you initiate on them? Could work well with the random map generation already within combined with a crafting hand towards "themes". Forest Planet of the Elves? Dwarven take on the Hol

I know E:WoM is not yet out, but I would like to officially request that the sequal be Elemental: Universe of Magic. Imagine having a game that is a combination of MoM, Civilization, and MOO/MOO2/Galciv2. Think sort of like Spore where you go through stages from colonizing your first city to researching BOTH magic AND technologies and take over both planes of existence on your one world, then obtaining space travel and going out into space and doing more research into normal technologies AND

Pre-ordered, as always. I think I have bought more games from Stardock over the last decade than I have from any other game publishers. Aside from Elemental and possibly Demigod, the only other games I am actively waiting for are Diablo III and Starcraft II. Between Stardock and Blizzard, pretty much all my gaming needs are covered. :)

Just like you want to have multi-tile cities, I think you should also have multi-tile armies. You would only get to stack up a certain number of units in one tile, and then additional tiles adjacent to that unit are required in order to increase the size of the army. You would define movement for the whole army by moving any of the pieces. The path algorithm would calculate the movements of each tile-group so that it arrived in the same adjacent tile at the destination location. It would also

BTW, this can be accomplished in many ways. The best way, in my opinion, is to use a lock-step movement strategy with threaded events. It would work like this: Each AI runs in its own thread. Each AI builds a list of all units that have moves left and puts them in a priority queue. Each AI picks the top unit and checks all adjacent spaces to see if there is an attack target in one of them. If no attack target is found, it moves to an empty square based on any p

Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, pretty please.... Make the game use at least four threads, and preferrably one for each AI, plus one for the network and one for video updates and one for user input and put priority on the video, network, and input threads. And PLEASE put a small sleep statement in the game loop so that I don't burn my lap trying to play on a laptop. I am not talking about a game lagging huge sleep s

Could we please have the AI separated out into its own thread, the graphics updating running in a separate thread, and ship movement in a separate thread? On my 4-core processor with 8 gigs of memory, this thing really runs slow as the game drags on. I believe it has to do with all of the ship movements. It runs 100% on one core, but one core only. It _really_ needs to make use of multiple cores. I understand it can't happen by release time, but an update a bit down the road would really make
As near as I can tell so far, the Drengin infrastructure "sucks"( their "factories" are really weak compared to the other races), they have anemic influence, couldnt trade for a bag of peanuts diplomatically...but they have a truly scary range of martial technology. Are they "crippled" because they're designed to conquest to improve themselves? Racial differentiation is the whole point of TA.
I played a Terran game until I could no longe

Just had a lock-up happen as I researched some technology. Not sure which one it was, though. Also, for graphical issues, if I click on star port construction, the window does not come up. It closes the planetary improvement window and after I close my turn summary, then the star port screen comes up.

Not sure where to post this... Found my first C2D in Twilight. When trading for Arcean tech Interstellar Navigation, I get a C2D. Trying to E-mail the saved game and crash info, but having some SMTP problems at the moment. Just thought I would give a heads up here for any other beta 1 players.

I am still getting out of memory errors in 1.8c on saving games. Happens on both huge and gigantic so far (only two sizes I've tried so far). I have 2 GB RAM and 6 GB swap file on Vista Ultimate 64-bit. I really should not be getting out of memory errors. When I check task manager for how much memory DA is using, it is ever only about 1.5 GB.

So, I'm in the middle of a metaverse suicidal game and have most of the (gigantic) galaxy under my control (influence victory turned off). I tried adjusting my economy sliders, but any time I try to increase my military or social spending sliders, it suddenly says I have a very large negative value allocated to spending. This is on DA v1.8b. I will try to remember to submit the saved game for debugging when I get home tonight. The odd thing is that I am only making around 20,000bc total rev
same here - don't have a "proper" credit card - they require a certain amount of regular income where i come from which i - as a poor university student - don't have. A Visa Check Card works just as well if you're in the US (or elsewhere they're available)--many banks offer them even with free checking accounts. That's what I use myself (glad to be credit card free). So long as your credit isn't horrible you should have no pro

Not sure when this cropped up, but at some point I started getting a repeatable CTD that has not gone away with the most recent updates. If I start a game and then go back to the main menu and try to start another one, I get to the race selection screen and then I CTD when I move the mouse over one of the already chosen races. The odd thing is that the CTD is caused by the video driver crashing (nVidia using the latest Beta drivers; I'll have to get you the version when I get back home from work

Here's a thought.... Perhaps you just have bad memory in your computer? I would run a memory tester (like the one built into the Gentoo Linux install CD or the Windows Vista install CD or any number of other Linux install CDs that include a memory tester). If that comes up clean, try removing one of the sticks of memory (if your motherboard supports it) and try the game again. Then try the other stick of memory, etc. Go through each of the sticks you have and test them each individually
I'd just like to throw out that I support Stardock 100%. Those attacking the games and the free updates are an intense minority. Tens of thousands of people (at least) play Gal Civ 2. Half a dozen cry and complain. Don't let it sour you all to the community at large, these are the people that after winning the lottery would cry over having to pay taxes. On the whole we really enjoy the game, updates, and especially the response to feedback on the forums. I can't think

Well, then maybe it is just a balance issue. I am able to design races using that with racial stats that are far beyond the capabilities of a standard custom race. Also, when doing this, if I restart the game entirely (from the desktop) and try to create a new game using a custom race, I cannot get back to a normal custom race. I have intrinsic abilities already selected from the race that I previously customized, and I have a preset super ability that is not changeable. Not being able
