Ok, this weird bug has occured to me a couple of times now. I've had a unit spontaneously "dying" at the start of its first turn in tactical combat, but he's not really dead. You'll hear the units death sound and the unit disappears from the screen, the tile the unit was on is then the "active tile" and in the lower left hand corner you'll see the units portrait and stats, you can move the invisable unit, but then the next action (e.g. an attack or spell) won't work.

Update from me too, I didn't reinstall the game or anything but switched off anti-aliasing (which I had tried before already) and the outlines (which I hadn't tried yet), I left the other graphical options enabled. I've played for over 2 hours, had a couple of large army battles and it seems to running ok now.
I am having similar issues. It seems like the problems begin during tactical battles then spread into the main game. I don't see high resource usage and its not taxing my video card, but I am seeing the RAM usage spike. I'm downloading the update now and will edit my comment when I know for sure :). Gonna be another hour or so though, slow connection. *UPDATE* Confirmed, my 0.90 save games were loading fine in 0.91 as well. When you hover over the save games with your mouse it will tell the
There is a lot of randomness going on in my games as well, but its hard to tell if its a random event, normal monster spawn, or what Not that random stuff is in any way bad of course.
Agreed, and my comment wasn't meant as a complaint, but some sort of notification of such event would be nice. And with notification I mean something else than "your XXXX was destroyed" :).

+ Random events work Is there a list of random events somewhere? I'm not sure if one just happened to me, but on my current game fire snakes and golems or whatever they're called suddenly spawned throughout the map. I only noticed because some of my outposts and mines were destroyed by them. There was no proper warning of a random event (like a popup you get in Galactic Civilizations II), so was just wondering what happened and why they appeared on the map.

Love your play through's and they're very educational, but I think you should tax your empire with 1 Guildar for every time you say "at this stage" :). j/k Keep'em coming!

If they're not pinning this might as well bump it :) Thanks for this excellent guide, although I've purchased SINS when it was first released (and same for the two expansions) I never really came around playing it, but have now picked it up. This guide is really helpful so just wanted to say thanks!

Same is happening to me, but I don´t have any ships so maybe one of the AI ships is stuck. Its happening right after I hit the turn button and the AI takes their moves... then the turn button disappears. The game itself isn´t stuck, I can enter menus, planets etc. This is with Twilight of the Arnor, 2.03 (latest patch) during the campaign mission "Apocalypse". I loaded a previous save game from 3 turns earlier, but it gets stuck at the same time 3 turns later.

I'm still new to this game (although I've played GalCiv I years ago....) but having a blast. What I like about GalCivII is that every game is truely unique. I've started my first game on the biggest map available in Twilight last weekend after having played small and medium maps before and it's awesome... I'm in the southern tip of the map and the Krynn was bullying me for money, they are the military superpower in the game. At that time I had already conquered the Drengin N

Don't be afraid of big ships.... invest in logistics, miniaturization and weapon technology they don't have defences for. Then build fleets of 12+ small hulled fighters filled with your deadliest weapon (forgot about shield/armor or point defence, just weapons). Those fleets will haunt your enemy frigates and battleships in their worst nightmares :) If you choose the +2 speed ability for your race, you can even forget about putting an engine on your small hull to fit more weapons :D</

Hi, After reading "Mass-buying improvements and ships" I got this question.... Can you mass-upgrade one type of ship to the next level? For example I usually upgrade my ships with new gen weapons and shield and designate the ship designs with MkI, MkII etc. How can I upgrade all MkI's to MkII's at once? In CivIV this is possible, would be great if this could be done in GalCiv2! Thx, Dimitry

I find it quite easy to do through the "Colonies" screen, but I suppose that gets a bit annoying once you have hundreds of planets.... :) But your question raised another similar one to me.... I don't want to hijack this thread so will make a new post!

I'd just like to think they think they just have a "Star Trek" replicator... "Earl Grey - Hot" :D

As Jenna Casey would say... "Not gonna happen" :) I think one of the devs here posted that GalCivIII would use the Demigod engine, anyways... if you ever had a look at the EA C&C3 Forums I think you'd agree that gamers should avoid anything EA-related like a plague. Having said that, I couldn't resist to pre-order a copy of Spore myself, it has great reviews. Just waiting for the mailman now as it was shipped early this week. &n

Guess you'd have to try to find out :) I wonder how that would work though... If you build a transport and send it from Planet A to Planet B (where planet B is from a different Civ) it will create a trade route between those two planets. If you gift a transport to another Civ while the transport is in your territory.... even if that transport will go to one of your planets, between what planets will the trade route be? Technically the transport came from your planets to start with... and you

I suppose I got lucky... several times :D But I agree...it's not without risk. I balance the risk before I decide to purchase something from ebay. e.g. If a game costs me 45-50 euro in the shops here and I can find it on ebay for 15-20 euro including shipping charges (which is quite often the case), I happily accept the risk. Whether other people want to take this risk is their choice, but I've yet to have a bad experience from buying games on eBay. And the money I already saved with
As well, ebay frequently has used or bootleg copies for sale which you won't be able to register for updates anyway.
I've bought several games from ebay and never had any problem. I always got original unused software with a working s/n for online play or registration. But I only buy from recommended Powersellers and avoid "used" copies. My Sins copy e.g. works fine and is not a bootleg or pirated copy. Anyway, I

The world can have it, you can buy this pack on ebay and it's shipping worldwide. Anyway, I got the ultimate pack from Impulse anyway, knowing I could have purchased Endless Universe from eBay for less... but I didn't want to wait for the release date and shipping delay (I bought Sins of a Solar Empire of eBay and it took 3 weeks...I'm not very patient) :P

14 Replies 18,750 Views

I found it quite easy to update the game through Impulse and I have no objections installing the software either. I don't understand why people are making such a problem about it, if it's to complicated for you I suggest you buy a Nintendo Wii or similar.

Nope, it also comes with the magazines in stores. I bought this edition last week, I had just purchased Sins of a Solar Empire, but after reading this diary it made me purchase GalCiv2 and the two expansions as well. Good reading, recommended!
