That is an interesting idea but I think it would ruin the whole bidding war mechanic. I mean, after spending all that money to outbid a foe who wants the pirates to attack me, it would really be annoying to have my foe cancel the attack on him by a second round of one-party negotiations. Why even bid at all? I just think it would make hiring pirates all too uncertain to be worth the money.
If I remember correctly, b

I disagree. I'd much rather have the game be fun than looking phenomenal. Who cares if I can count the number of hairs on a spider's butt if I get bored 10 minutes into the game?

This thread reminds me of when I first started surfing message boards 9 years ago. We had a saying back then: "Don't post angry." Yes, Alpha is being an inconsiderate jerk; he has no idea how precious a communicative developer is. As for Brad's response... I understand completely. :D There are times when the Dark Side calls and you just want to fry a jerk that has no idea how good he has it, and keeps busting you for all attempts to reconcile the situation. But the Dar

Sins of A Solar Empire, however, does not support that minimum resolution. Therefore, Sins is basically the only digital game that i CANNOT play at the moment.
Thank you very much! I had been eyeing the N10 and was hoping that it played games well (I can deal with not playing Sins on the Netbook.) &n

Thanks everyone for the response. Think on this more I must. (I have a decent Desktop at home, so I can get my gaming fix just fine, and my laptop does decent enough for GalCiv2.) I don't have much experience with touchscreen, so I'll keep that in mind. I wonder how the Nvidia Ion will run games. (And to confirm, I could care less aout graphics.)

I've been pondering getting one of those netbooks, but I'm wondering if I can do any gaming on one, like GalCiv2 or Civ 4 (or Elemental, when it's released.) So who has experience using a netbook, and how well do they do for some basic gaming?

Not sure if you've played Master of Magic, but one of the victories was a global baniishment spell for the enemy wizards (can't remember if it affected allies or not.) This spell took lots of mana and time (as it was one of the last spells you could research, plus the cast time wasn't incosinderable) and you could interrupt it by taking the enemy capitol. So how is that game-breaking? think about

In Elemental, each city requires magic that you can't recover to clear the land for the city's founding. So while you spread out your cities, and build large armies, that guy over there with only three cities? Yeah, he's able to research the "Apocalyptic spell of KYA!" so when your armies come marching in, all you end up with is nice little piles of ash. https://forums.elementalgame.com/329219 3. Something I would like to see is two versions of the cruiser carrier, the new one and the old one. I miss being able to build the old version, which I found useful in dealing with early game raids; if I wanted a more powerful carrier, I built the Cap carrier.
You're an idiot. You realize, that 600 to 7 targets at level 3, is 4200 damage from 1 spell. The Kol's Gauss is 600 damage to 1 target. You're just... whatever. If that spell in fact did 4200 at level 5, I can guarantee that Vasari players would all use desolator every game without exception. You also realize, that it would instantly kill groups of LRMs. As you long as you did ANY damage at all, that spell would wipe half a fleet instantly. Even at level 3, you're dealing more than 50% of
