Open up your debug file using notepad and paste it into this so people can tell whats wrong, its in your galciv2 folder under program files/total gaming.
I can say I have had problems because of old drivers, but I've fixed my computer issues, and now the problems I'm having are definetely because of game coding. If you think Stardock has done a really good job of making this bug free.. take a look at the forums of major producers like blizzard, Stardock made a great game, and they're making great effort at making updates.. why can't they transfer some of that work into making better code? I'm incredibly frustrated, granted there are worse buggy g
I have to say, I have reinstalled Galciv several times to fix 'other' problems, of which have been numerous. I have norton, and checkdisk / virus scan / etc are all clean. I reinstalled my drivers Again, and that did have an effect - i was able to go 2 more turns before it crashed. Last 3 lines of my debug file this time was Debug Message: Updating ZOC. Debug Message: Random Event: Begin Debug Message: Random Event: End I am about ready to give up.. never done so much work
I can agree.. some things I would like to add, the difficulty on ai's is not even at all. What I mean is, playing painful and above, its very hard to keep the ai off your back beginning game. If you can survive past beginning game though, you easily begin to surpass ai's because of foolish fleet maneurving and research paths and countering and stuff. Basically, I can't go a higher difficulty because I get slammed in the beginning, and if i play painful, its way to easy to get ahead later, which
Yes, I had a problem with those drivers before, my screen was stuck at 480 by 600 pixels with 4 bit color, or something like that. I reinstalled them and it didn't work, but the 2nd reinstall I did the way you described, and it fixed that. However, through all that my game worked fine, its only now 2 days later that it isnt working. Can't find an older version of drivers cause the archive is confusing, but these seem to work fine on everything but the galciv, including other games =\
Yeah ok, can't edit that post, but i forgot to add I updated my drivers to fix the last problem.
as a side note, i updated my drivers recently, and theyve worked fine so far, just noticed im having trouble seeing pictures and outlines on this website though, reinstalled my drivers and no luck, dont know if that has anything to do with it.
Ok, im playing the Arcean Empire on a gigantic size galaxy on painful difficulty. It's like decemberish 2229 and the game crashes on the same turn every time, im researching aeron missile defense the turn before, and sometimes i see the technology finished screen before it crashes, sometimes not. I'd appreciate some help, I don't mean to seem like a whiner, but I've never had even close to the amount of trouble with a game that I have had with this, everything I do to fix a problem seems to scre
Yes, ive upgraded to 1.11 so far, havent gotten the 1.12 beta.. I know the extra content is seperate from the Collectors edition, problem is I can't find it anywhere in game, and thats probably cause I didn't enter a serial key #, except I can't find where to enter the serial key number for either the collectors edition content or the extra content, it doesn't come up when I download it, and it doesn't show up in game =\
Oh yeah, and I didn't download the 3rd download that says Galactic Civilizations II Desktop Enable Content Collectors Edition because it says "Run this setup program below to enable in-game Collectors Edition content and install the Galactic Civilizations II Desktop. You must have the latest version of the game installed (either via standalone update from GalCiv2.com or Stardock Central). " Where as the 2nd download says "Download and Run this setup program to enable the in-game
Ok, this is my 2nd post on the same issue, i got no help last time. I bought the collectors edition online, and downloaded all the regular content. I played the campaign and stuff, but I am now trying to get the collectors edition content. The page https://www.galciv2.com/CollectorsEdition/ is where I have been told to download it, and I've tried. However, after downloading I get this message: Thank you for purchasing Galactic Civilizations II. This installer has updated the reg
I disagree with Alfonse on the reason why components take more space on larger ships. It seems completely illogical for stardock to make bigger ships and then mitigate that by making components bigger, they probably would have just made the bigger ships not quite so spacious. Instead, it has to do with realism. A bigger ship has more area to armor, or cover with shields, it requires bigger defenses. Life support is bigger, because theres more people to support. Same with sensors and everything e
Anybody have any idea's? maybe somebody from stardock? ive downloaded the collectors stuff twice each now and no luck.. dont wanna try again cause i dont wanna screw my game up or something, just got most of the stuff working
its at www.nvidia.com under drivers.. couldnt find drivers for my creative sound card, guess its to old =\
Sorry if this goes twice, my first post doesn't seem to have shown up.. Ok, this is my 2nd post, i want to thank all the people that helped me on my last one, especially spraxspore managed to download all my drivers and stuff, even though i am technically incompetent.. Anyway, I still haven't been able to fix one thing. I have a collectors edition game, but I can't get the collectors edition content enabled. There's two links I see,

the optiosn i get are graphics driver (geforce and TNT, geforce go 7800 GTX, quadro, and RIVA 128 / 128ZX) and platform / nforce drivers (nforce4 430/410, nforce4 AMD, nforce4 AMD/Intel x16) the card i have is NVIDIA geforce4 TI 4200 =\
uh huh well thanks for the advice.. cant seem to figure out how to update the drivers though, cant find which cards i have specifically, the names dont seem to match up with the two i got, especially the nvidia one, gives me options for an nforce4 or a geforce with windows professionalx64, i tried that one and it says i dont have the right windows, but the only other windows is windows XP and i got professional, and anyway, i thought i had a geforce 4? =\
forgot to add, I've also tried to reinstall galciv, it said I couldnt access the install file in add/remove progams panel, so I manually deleted all the files. However, my settings like the attribute points I changed on the races where still there (i want to change those back but cant remember defaults) so obviously I didn't get everything, even though i deleted everything in the totalgaming folder..
Ok, so this is my first post. I got this game I guess.. 2 weeks ago or so. I've been trying to have fun with it, and it's a really great game, but theres been some problems that just bug the heck out of me. Like, the secret police project seems like just a crappy version of a virtual reality center, and the galactic guide book is broken, it doesnt add survey ability to ships already on screen or reduce the bc cost of survey module or decrease the size of it. Does anybody know if these are going
