Nother one... I get the same error. Vista Premium 64 bit. uninstall and re-install didn't help
Sierra Dragon
 I can see that one... the Kittens mod!!!
yea I turned it on accidently the other day too... wasted alot of resources trying to figure that one out I tell ya! LOL
just tried an interesting game... 9 AI's huge FFA... (yea ok I bit off more than I could chew) I like the pirates option but had a little issue with this game. the Pirate base was located with only 1 link which happened to be with one of my systems. the end result was that no matter who the pirates were off to attack they had to go through my systems to do it. problem with that was that any errant frigate or bomber or weapons platform the pirate fleet HAPPENS to co
Meh i just tried on a huge map with 9 AI's all FFA... that didn't work real well... I did manage to get a few of them above 55% but too many conficting priorties floatin around... between them and the Pirates it was getting untenable. have to try something different next time... maybe fewer AI's.
they arent too hard to deal with if you just build loads of turrets on a chokepoint planet, also stops those pesky scouts getting past to scout your planets at one point in a 2v2 game i had 29 advent beam turrets and a 10k pirate fleet came, i didnt lose a single turret... overlapping fields of fire are great <IMG id=ImageResize_Ima
You mean my Crappy ATI card plays this game better than an Nvidia card... thats a first
Pirates, as far as I can tell, never use strikecraft and are susceptible to bombers. If they evade your turret defenses at least the bombers can work on em.
Good to know... I didn't think of that... Thanks
Core 2 Duo 2.66gz 2 GB RAM 8800 GTX
well I havn't had any problems yet but depending on your Vista settings, your OS could be using up to 1.4Gb of RAM all by itself... (I'm running 4GM ram with Vista 64 bit and vista itself uses that much if I have Aero and a few other background stuff opening) .6GB of ram is still pretty big but if your running sims and your Virus Scanner starts up I can see where you could run out of memo
Just wanted to say congrats on a great game... and say you've really created something special. I've played GalCiv1 @ 2 and most of the expansions and while I enjoyed them, I'm probably not your typical gamer and stuff that appealed to me rarely appealed to a larger audience. (Gal Civ while succesful was never more than a niche market) I think you guys have built a real winner with Sins of a Solar Empire. The reviews are outstanding, I suspect the sales are going to reflect w
A quick change is to be expected from Stardock... both GalCiv's were being updated within days of release and particularly for GalCiv1 the AI opponents were updated pretty much weekly. for those not used to Stardocks philosophy, this is how it works... Stardock continually reviews gameplay and tactics used by the top ranked players in the multiplayer/forum environment. they are very interested not only in the stability of the game but how players are using the features,
IMHO they should be ashamed charging 40-50$ for an unfinished game that is lacking the biggest part of it. So do you also consider Civilization IV unfinished because it doesn't feature a single player campaign?
Civ 4 game IS the campaign. in this one you have 4~5 campaigns... just choose one of the large~ huge maps... the small maps are for short Multiplayer duels. I bet it will take longer to play a big map than most RTS campaigns wo
AMD Turion 64x2 Mobile T66 2.3Gz Dual core CPU 4 GB RAM ATI Mobile HD2600 512Mb 1680 X 1050 screen Settings all on highest including Bloom except AA turned off. (tried with it turned on and couldn't see a noticable difference so why bother) FRAPS was showing around 30 fps with a little drop to 25fps with zoomed in explosions etc.. all in all I'm quite impressed. Tried in windowed mode and that really killed it though, down to 15 fps.
Gonna finish it later, but I think from now on I'm gonna leave the pirates alone. Somehow I think they are unbeatable. At least it will cost me horrendous ammounts of crafts to take them down, and meanwhile my opponent is just building himself up in peace. Pretty annoying to be the strongest power in the solar system and I can't even take down a pocket of bandits....
This is comming from someone who hasn't actually played yet but from what I've gather
Those planets look truly excellent. I imagine I will probably lose my first few games because I sit and stare at the beautiful planets rather than killing things...
LOL I think that will be my problem too. that and the battles...
Thanks all... I can see and intall deskscapes and it even runs... I've installed and uninstalled a couple times both as an admin and as not doesn't make any difference. I can see everything and am getting no error messages. it just won't switch my desktop to an aninmated one. I select a *.dream file and the program closes with no errors but no animated desktop. just my origional background. I'll create a ticket it MAY have to do with activation of deskscapes.... I wa
Whoops I should be adding I'm running windows home premium 64 bit version... it should work right???
I just bought Object desktop primarily to get the dreamscapes application for my Window home premium edition... (well windowblinds and icon manager too but Dreamscapes is what finally made it worth the price) everything seems to install and load fine but no dreamscape will apply... I've run as an administrator and everything but no Dream file will load or work.. there are no error messages or anything just my old walpaper.. am I doing something wrong??
if the game requires a minimum of geforce 6600 then i dont think its not a difficult thing to run the game on 512Mb of ram. I have been running games on 512mb ram for a long period of time.... games like witcher, gears of war, crysis and COD4... so whydo people always ask if 512 mb ram will be enough?? in my experience if you can fulfil the processor req and vid req than you can run the game easily
Because games like Supreme Commander, (being the obvious offender) post t
Gang, ordering direct is $10 more because it's the Collector's Edition, not $20.
Right... can't do math.... how can you tell I'm an engineer. my bad.
If AMD goes bankrupt due to lack of sales(they're running in the red right now) then we all get to pay through the nose
I wouldn't worry... even if they go bankrupt I doubt they will dissapear... someone else will just buy them... latest rumor was IBM which would be an interesting development and one I doubt Intel would welcome.
neat - you've sold the game to me anyway... my two sons and a friend (7&4) were watching over my shoulder and they were impressed too)
no it's $20 more expensive but I'm sure there's an explanation for that... (I'm just still waiting for the expanation ;) )
Optimal...I guess I'll give my home PC as an example. I play at 1920x1200 with all settings maxed. Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3GHz 4GB System RAM GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB PCI-E Video Card SoundBlaster X-Fi Fata1ity I run it on Vista 64-bit, but if you have anything even remotely close to the above system on XP, it should be more than enough.
nice... :CONGRAT: and when I can make a 6 digit annual salary playing computer games I'll have a system like that..
now that min and recommended system requirement have been announced is there any suggestions as to the "Optimal" system settings are going to look like and the hardware requirements to run them? at least something more specific than the stock, "you computer is the limit" I'm not willing to pay $4000 for a system capable of playing Supreme Commander the way it was meant to and I'm really hoping that SoaSE will allow at least fairly high settings to be played on reasonably resour
