Getting GalCiv2 to work on a Steam Deck since the resolution update?

Has anyone had any luck getting GalCiv 2 working on the Steam Deck recently? Every time I start it, it tells me my resolution needs to be 1280 x 1024 and won't start. I can't close out of the error, and there's no prefs.ini for me to edit. Does anyone have a solution?
