Like several others who have commented here or on other sites, I too have had a subscription to Object Desktop for years and have never used DesktopX until very recently. The primary reason being that it was pretty unstable on my system until the last few releases. The UI does take a little getting used to but is actually pretty powerful once you get past your own pre-defined assumtions about how it ought to work as opposed to how it really does. Although, not perfect, what is, this program h
Jill User, your post made me happy.. or wait, did it really? Seriously, your post was one of those things that I read now and then that make me sit back and think, now that was unique and introspective in a optomistic and positive way. Thank you for that
Pam's submission seems to be the real question here IMHO.
I will definately be buying DesktopX Pro in the near future. I waited a long time for DesktopX to get to the point is at now.. very stable, and I really like the notion of what I will be able to do with the Pro version!!! Great product guys. You have created one hell of a product!! Can't wait to see what's next
I had the same issue as you Donna G until I un-loaded DesktopX then applied the update from Stardock Central. It is now reporting the correct version. Make sure it ask you for a re-boot
I really like this program and bought it when it was first released in beta form. There is one thing though, that drives me crazy. The font in the user interface for section/attribute titles is to big and is cut off. It has been that way since the first relase of plus. Other than that, I use it every day extensively and it rocks!!! Especially like the tabs
Had been using Power Desk for years then switched to Opus about a year ago.. much more expensive but a lot more funtionality and takes me back to my Amiga days lol. Good news for Power Desk users. I would definately check this out if I wasn't so happy with Opus. Glad to see they finally updated a really nice application
Thanks Corky-O.. I just renamed them with a .doc extension as suggested by someone in this post and that seems to have worked. But thanks for the offer
I would be happy with a email checker that can handle multiple POP 3 accounts and a internet based account such as Yahoo. Also, it would be nice to be able to have a help file that was not corrupted, (me too), or some form of documentation so that I could figure this program out, or at least try
I have also had installed and running, since the first day it came out, switching between .jpeg and .png files flawlessly
Another brilliant and amazing program from Xymantix!! This is incredible. Thanks so much
Well, bought this today and it looks like it has some really usefull new features, however it also looks as if there are some agrevating bugs which is not all that surprising for a beta release. I can make fly out menus and it is really cool looking but it doesn't seem to do anything. I can't any of the items in the fly out, for example I made a My Computer fly out and it shows all the contents, I think, on my drive, but I can't do anything with any of the items. Maybe I'm missing something
This program never ceases to amaze and just simply get's better with every build. I can't have any of my 4 computers running without SysMetrix running too. I love this program. Thanks again...
Oh yes, and one other thing that I forgot to mention in my post above. Winstep has the best support I have seen in a long, long time. Jorge is always very quick to respond to questions.
Not sure what the other person in this post is talking about but I have been using NextStart and Workshelf for years and it is, in my opinion, the most stable application of it's kind, bar none. There are tons of beautiful skins and the flexibility of this software is amazing. I love it and it's what I intend to keep using. Keep up the great work Winstep!!!
No version of this for OD owners yet. Don't get it >
I wonder how many Object Desktop subscriptions there are out there and how that factors into the 1%? Wincustomize is hands down my favorite skin site and I am a regular (2-3 times a day) browser. Sometimes a submitter too!
This app just gets better and better. Thanks for the 12 hr/24 hr fix. Looks like you added quite a few new bells and whistles with this release. Looks great... Thanks Xymantix!!
I posted a response to another post asking what is wrong with effectively stealing someone's else's work and insinuating that treetog has no right to charge for his work. That I took offense to. In my post, I used the word steal which, upon reflection, was probably a poor choice and without taking a closer look at the two skins, (which I did later). For that I apologize to m0rphium if in fact, that is not the case. I still find it very difficult to believe that m0rphium's skin is not at lea
Grog... Thanks for the tip, nice program but it still is not working. I don't get it >
Yes, I used that one for the BalloonTips and it seems to work but the ToolTips edit below did not and that is what I'm really trying to accomplish. 1) Navigate to HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop. 2) Double-click UserPreferencemask and change its value to 3E 00 00 00. 3) Close the Registry Editor and restart Windows.
Does anyone have any idea how to disable the tooltips in XP? I have tried just about everything. I did the regedit hack but it didn't work. There has to be a way to turn those annoying little buggers off. Thanks.
I for one am more than happy to pay a measley (sp?) 9 bucks for these skins. I feel that it is a bargin and if it helps these folks to continue producing works of art like this then no problem. It obviously is a lot of colaborative hard work and I will continue to support them in any way I can. Again, great pack of WB skins. My biggest problem is I can't decide which one I want to use.
Just purchased and DL'ed.. very nice set of blinds. I especially like syncronous. Nice as usual!!
