Nah, its not that difficult, Just make a 'shortcut' under type of object, then set the image by clicing "change..." next to default appearance. That will do it for the basics. Shadows are available under the "states" tab. I second the question as to making IconX z-order differently. If I send an object to the back, it will be behind the icons, but next time I move it it pops back to the surface. So they CAN be drawn over objects, it just seems there's not a standard way to make the

The problem with those stupid little "crazy ants" or "piss ants" is that they have no main queen. Most ant species will attack opposing colonies, these ants just create one big ant society in peace, all ganging up on you. Keep the soil around you house a little damp, they HATE water in their holes, and they will start crawling out. Don't let those flower beds close to your foundation get dried out, (if you have them) that's the best spot for them to colonize. Also, keep you aphid population
That looks like a Poser 5 render with hair grown. Could be another program, though. Mmmm Poser 5, wish I could afford it. That and Bryce and 3dsMax. Speaking of things we'll never see: Bush saying "Okay, I just wanted to kick Iraqui butt because they made Daddy look bad." Bush Sr.
I'm not a DX scripter (yet) but I think with a little effort I can manage it. I assume its possible to set the Z-order in script. Can I make one fish the "leader" so that if he's behind everything, all of the fishes linked to him are? I have some experience in other programming languages and script languages, so I am not too worried about the complexity. Thanks though. I thought there might be a simple way, it almost seems like it should be a built in option.
I was contemplating how I could use my DesktopX fishies as a screensaver. I thought of putting the "show desktop" command in the task scheduler, but that didn't work as it only runs once per day. Any suggestions?
Naw, I'm not a mac enthusiast. I just have to work on one at work, and every single feature is there. Personally, I find the alpha shadows and no borders very annoying, so I turned them off, lol. I was just mentioning an alternative.
It sounds like you might be better off going out and buying a Mac, *Ducks a sppeding flame ball* AaaH!
I wasn't trying to be a butthead, I just tend to sound really sarcastic when I type, sorry. :/ I have been using various flavors of windows and dos since the Tandy 1000. Its just Stardock programs I am somewhat unfamiliar with. I know you can put a folder or a folder shortcut in the start menu, desktop, or quicklaunch, that's not the issue. Think of an explorer window with no toolbars, buttons, or anything except a scrollbar and icons, locked to the desktop. Is there a wa
A for effort, but not really helpful in the least. :/ sorry. The idea came from my Mac at work. On the Mac, you can't tell drives or new files where on the desktop to appear, they pop to the right side, filling in empty spaces willy-nilly. The concept is to have a 'My Documents' folder that I can always see the contents of (unless I cover it up with programs) but appears to be separate from the main 'desktop' items. I am a very disorganized person, and if it takes dragging a file fr
Light travels at the speed of light (in a vacuum, at least) regardless of the speedd of the emitting object. If you were travelling at half the speed of light, towards a beam of light having been emitted already, it would appear to you to be approaching at the speed of light, rather than 1.5x. Same probably works, its not like firing a gun from a moving vehicle, it wouldn't travel faster because your flashlight is already travelling at lightspeed. Darn quantum mechanics don't really make much
I have been around the site a bit, and have downloaded some desktop objects and themes, but I was wondering about a particular feature. Is there a known way to make a 'container' on the desktop for files, basically a regular explorer window that stays locked and in the background as if it were part of the desktop, but over regular desktopX effects? I have my main icons on the desktop, but want a fast access area to my downloads folder. I might just have to make something for use here,
