So I'm taking my last math class before I graduate. It's called Real Analysis, and believe me its not nearly as cool as it sounds!

So today we are looking at open and closed intervals and open and closed sets.

(0,1) is an open set and [0,1] is a closed set (If you would like me to explain exactly why they are either closed or open I will later).

Now some sets such as O (the empty set) and R (the set of all real numbers) that are both closed and open (again, if you would like me to explain this, I can). Now mathematicians have given a name to these special sets that are both open and closed, can you think of what the super sophiticated mathematical term could be? Thats right! A set that is both open and closed it called Clopen.

Sometimes its hard to admit that you have joined a "society" full of dumbasses...

mmmmyeeaahhhh....reminds me a little of when Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble bought a boat. Fred wanted to name it Nautical Lady and Barney wanted to name it Lady of the Sea (or something along those lines). So they compromised and took the first three letters of Fred's desired name and the last three letters of Barney's:

NauSea.

I remember once asking a counselor if the class "Discreet Math" was where I 1+1 did, in fact, equal 3, but you don't talk about it in public.

more fun is Number Theory, where the only numbers other than O and 1 you ever see are the numbers of the assigned problems.

You have to entertain the esoteric to get to the real stuff! Trust me! I hated this stuff, but then you need it once you go beyong the truth, and into theory. Now if you dont want to go that far (and very few do), dump it!

It just expands the mind to the stuff that is not facts yet. And yea, I did not get a PHD in Mathematics! So I have no use for it!
