Alliances and Agreements, still worthless?

I pre-ordered this game way back because of loving Gal Civ II. As we all know, rough start for III, and I stopped playing till Crusades. Ended up taking another break, but recently back in. Have a good game going, but it seems that Agreements and Alliances are still broken and worthless. I know there are a few mods out there to correct this, but with yet another DLC coming up, I wanted to verify that these were never corrected in the base game, correct? Or perhaps I am just missing something. The text reads as it being two sided, and the AI seems to really want them, but I get nothing out of them that I can see, only boosting the AI's gains (I assume at least), so I end up not doing it.

First time really trying to go diplomatic and benevolent, the later at least seems to be fixed and not always horrible choices to get the points in, but the diplomacy... Now I remember why I always just killed everyone, lol.

They work but they are one sided. If you offer then they get the bonus. Is they offer you get the bonus. It shows up in your income breakdown as Thalan +20% for example. You still can't ask for it though, you have to wait for them to offer.

Oh, dang. I missed the one chance to take one than, offered and I figured it was the same. Any way to encourage them to offer it, or to even establish a trade route with any of my planets? People love me, and I have more tech than they do, but no one wants to trade for it, or with my colonies :-(.

Thanks for the update though. Wish we could ask for it in turn, especially if we offer it.

This is very dependent on how much stuff they have, and how well they like. You can rip off your enemies, while getting deals from your friends.

As far as the base game if people like it then tbey will work on it. Sadly this depends on recent reviews, not overall. If it hits i think a 79 percent it will be worked on again. As long as it has a 41 percent, then crusades, and intrigue will be worked on, not the base game. On the upside you can get the classic game in your betas.

Sorry, when I said base game, I meant the game without mods. All DLC is fine, I have it all, but the issues remain within those DLCs as well, in regards to the Alliances and such. Again, maybe I am just not seeing something, or I did something wrong, but how it currently seems to be, the issue was never resolved in any of the expansions.

From what I've seen, the AI always goes for the longest trade route possible. So the only way to encourage trade is to be in the corner of the map.

I also see this all the time.  If I'm not on the edge, the AI never creates a trade route with me.

I am convinced it is due to a bug that allows AI to ignore range limits that the ships have.  I have checked the ranges on ships that reach me and found they usually have a range of 70 to 90.  I will be maybe 150 tiles away from them.  I check the ship range by double-clicking on it, then looking at the data on the left side of the screen.  The range of the ship is there.  I wait until the trade route is created, then go into window showing all the trade routes to and from my planets.  I look at the galaxy map to see the origin of the trade route, then go back to the galaxy map.  I select a ship of mine that is closest to the planet where the route ended, then hold down the CTRL key and move my cursor towards the planet of origin until the tool tip shows the number of moves equal to the range of the trade ship.  I reach the range before I get to the planet of origin if the galaxy size is big enough.  The galaxy needs to be at least large in size.  Huge is better for seeing this.

I submitted a support ticket with a save about this in December.
