Trouble With Leader Pictures

In ver. 1.3 I created three custom factions.  For each I was able to pick small leader pictures (and I'm not sure what that is for) plus matching leader foreground/leader background images, which is what you see every time there is a diplomatic contact.

 

Today I made six new custom factions, so I could play with 18 factions on the Mappack DLC snowflake map, which makes for a very wild game.

 

But now, in ver. 1.4, I can pick custom small leader pictures, and it won't let me select matching leader foreground and leader background images.  It says the directories for those are empty.

 

Is this a bug with 1.4?  Is there an easy way to fix it?  I'm tired of getting diplomatic contacts from six different weird races, all of whom look like the human leader!

Er, that thread was posted after my question, and it doesn't contain an easy fix.

it has the fix,  you need to copy and convert the .dds faction images to .png's to the correct dir.  A fix from SD is coming & should be in next patch
