Ship designer questions

First, is there a way to scale an entire ship design instead of doing it part by part? Is there a way to scale just all the parts or just all equipment?

Is there a way to turn off all of a races given ship designs so only mine are displayed?

Thrusters. What is their intended use? For defensive only ships? How does tactical speed and acceleration factor in? In relation to the later does ship facing matter in combat?

Thank you for any help. : )

Hi there!

1) No you cannot scale an entire design. Though, you can scale up and down a custom component. So if you save your whole ship as a component and then make a design with only that component, you could scale it up or down. Not terribly useful I'm wagering, and some components won't obey this when part of a custom component.

2) Nope, for now, you can't make a race use your own designs by default. At least not without modding.

3) Thrusters add tactical speed, we are not certain exactly how they work, but generally, I find they reduce opponent accuracy, so I often make tiny and small hulls that forego defenses for thrusters, so that they can be useful against all comers. Furthermore, timing matters in battles, so if you have some carriers and you want a few of your other ships to attack WITH your fighters, they will need some extra tactical speed to keep up.

I currently outfit ships with balanced defenses - with the current weights med or large ships can get sturdy.  Armor is now nice as it helps with shields and missile defense as well,so I use at least one of all three.  But I am very mystified by what thrusters do,just don't have a clue.  Help!

thrusters give you agility in battle.

you can group all the parts of the ship and then scale it as one part, if you ungroup it the ship will revert back to the size before grouping.

How do you group them?

hold the ctrl key and pick all the parts to include, then you click the group button.  Sometimes it doesn't work, but if all the parts in the list collapse in to one part you know it worked.
