Map is the same

As i play my custom civ and dont like my start, i go to the main menu, and start a new game and it amazes me how I will get the same map, planets, and bonuses tiles almost everytime!  I usually have to load another race, start game, quit out, start a new game with my custom faction and will get a new map that way(usually but not always...the only sure way is to close the game and then start it up again).  Otherwise, its the same one over and over.  Was wondering if anyone else was seeing this as well?  Was also hoping Ctrl N would be in as I like to change the map.  Not sure if this is a bug or not, or even if anyone else has this problem, but thought id check and let the devs know it is happening to me.

its been mentioned a few times something new in beta 5.2 i think
as for ctrl N its been asked for as well and the devs seem open to the idea but it hasn't been implemented yet

I've had the same issues sometimes. What I've found that works is to exit to the main menu and click quick start. Should create a new/different map with the same parameters. What also works is to exit the map yr in, start a new one, change the map type, exit out of that one and then start again the map parameters you wanted.

Yes, you have to exit entirely, and reload the game, to get a new start.

I'm for an idea where you generate a new start with the same settings without starting where you have to set everything.

That is precisely what "Quick Start" does.

And to the point of the OP, as TheBirthdayParty said, Quick Start is working and producing unique new maps even though starting through New Game often produces duplicate maps/starting positions.
