System Requirements / Low Performance (Laptop Related?)

What the heck are the system requirement for this? I have a fairly new, fairly decent rig, but I am getting atrocious performance... 6 fps in planet viewer, and 10 fps on the standard screen on new game.

I have a i7-4810, 16gb RAM, and GTX 870m

Are these not enough, or should I be getting better performance than this?

Since you have a mobiiltiy card its likely the game is using your integrated Intel card

Force the use of your Mobilty card via the Nvidia COntrol Panel

I have the same problem too.  I have already forced it to use the NVidia but it still has major issues.

A lot of people have had this problem with this and other games. A smart move for StarDock would be to have the code query for this condition (if possible) and issue a warning.

yeah, not sure what the problem is.  The Nvidia GPU activity indicator in the system tray lights up and says that GalCiv3 is using the GPU.  It just does not run well.  I lowered my resolution from 3200x1800 down th 1920x1080 and it does improve up to about 11-12 FPS.   Other games, Metro, Crysis3, Titanfall, etc run at high FPS so I suspect it is something in the game itself.  Not complaining of course, it is beta. But I want to point it out so if they want any other info they can ask for it.

Similar issue here.

Quadro 4000M (laptop)

Running at 1920x1080

340.66 quadro driver

Vsync on (off doesn’t make a difference. Is there any way to display framerate?)

Anti-aliasing off

Bloom and ui off (makes a slight difference)

Other games such as tropico 5, civ 5 and company of heroes 2 are fine.

Hit d to display debug information (including framerate)

And yes, I did make sure I was using the nvidia card, not the integrated chipset.

I could be mistaken but i dont think they have done a lot of optimization yet for the game

considering its a turn based its more of a polish point ao proboly not very high on the priority list

There is a large difference between a few seconds extra time between turns and unplayable lag.

Anyways, I just tried setting my GC3 to force using the integrated graphics - I actually got BETTER performance : 30 fps in both planet screen and main screen.

I played this on my old alienware laptop M14 555M NVIDIA. The game is choppy but not unplayable (I don't have the highest graphic settings on either). I do recall that the in the alpha NVIDIA released a beta driver and it caused some issues, maybe this has to do with that?

In any case, you should probably send your debug.err file to Stardock or post it up here so they can take a peek to see if something else may be causing the problem.

The debug.err file is in your "Documents/my games/GalCiv3" folder. It replaces it every time you play the game. So try running the game with the nVidia card and send (post) it to them.

@Wraith367

Thanks for the tip on switching to integrated graphics and the 'd' key, it now runs fine for testing. (Intel HD4000)
