What happened to Global Warming?

What happened to Global Warming?

What happened to Global Warming?

When I put my first above ground pool in around the late 90's we were able to open it in April and start swimming in May.

Now my pool is just opened and still not warm enough to swim in :(

I'd like some global warming back...

As for gospel, well...

Climate science is never about money.

Never.

Really I always thought receding meant moving. What you are saying is that is not so.

I think that when the total end of the universe comes about, someone will actually have had the last word

on this thread...  ;P

The truth is (way) out there, Jafo.

Neil deGrasse Tyson has already had the last word.

Experience has taught me to never trust people who make a deal of their middle name.  Especially if they use the initial of their first name with it.  YMMV.

Quoting psychoak,

Better, yes, wackier, no.  Shit happens.

For a more informative version, it's been unusually warm for February in the US, with the jet stream further east than it typically is this time of year, allowing cold fronts to mix with the warm air closer to the east coast, forming tornadoes outside of tornado ally, but not in places that are actually abnormal, just not particularly common.  Now if we start having tornadoes in Alaska, prepare to meet your maker because the end is nigh.

The thing is, this dead horse has been flogged andressurrected so many times now, and nobody can prove that global warming is anthing more than a cock-eyed theory, so I tend to have a bit of fun with it... like bend the truth a little, sometimes a lot in a tongue-in-cheek sort of a way.

We have had similar weather events here in Oz, with cyclones appearing more frequently, in areas that don't normally experience them, but it has nothing to do with gloal warming.  Rather, they are the result of cyclic, naturally occurring events that have happened throughout history.... and always will.  I keep hearing about how the cyclones are getting stronger and more ferocious, and how there's nothing like them in living memory because of global warming, but in reality, cyclones aren't gething more frequent or feroious because of anything mankind has done.... and there were more powerful cyclones recorded in history... Darwin 1974, for example.

Sadly, various greedy and ruthless men have concocted this fallacy of global warming to acquire more of our cash, and sadder still, so many have swallowed it hook, line and sinker, almost giving it a validity like it were gospel.  Fools, that's all I can say.

Gravity and evolution are also theories. Should we claim those are just 'cock-eyed'? It is a fact the Earth is warming. It is a fact that man has increased the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere by nearly 40%. The CO2 cycle in regards to warming is well established. Sadly, 'greedy ruthless men have concocted' is not a substitute for actual science disputing the data. And sadly, the denier crowd seems to lack that. I'm sure they will get around to factually rebutting the science eventually.

Dammit, that means the sweat rash in my groin's gonna get worse... and my underarms are gonna smell like the monkey cage at the zoo.

Or there again, I could just keep believing that global warming is a figment of somebody else's imagination and continue changing my underwear once a month... and using the deoderant free samples when I shop the first monday of each quarter.

:-"

Nothing's funnier than when a warmist claims the burden of proof is on the 'denier crowd', while simply assuming 'facts'.  People much wiser than me have demonstrated beyond any reasonable doubt that the warmist's burden of proof (they don't want to, but they do shoulder it) has not been met.

You should check out how  shaky radioactive dating really is. You should also check out all the other dating methods. Or how water cause strata. Or how things have fossilized in seven years. Or how canyons can form in two hours. Or how they can't find a beneficial mutation on record. Just some fun reading. Or how they found out that carbon dating if it worked it would be 200 times more recent, so if we want to call evolution a theory that is fine with me.

Lets point out some facts like Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars have also been experiencing global warming. Overall global temp has not gone up since 1998, or how the 1200's was three degrees hotter. That global warming apparently became a problem when we came out of a miny ice age in 1850. Or how the U.N. admitted to lying to us. Or how even though the earth has risen above expectations Their was an article that said the overall global temp was going to be ten degrees hotter by now. Or how they changed the official temps on the internet.

Yes....you can prove mathematically that a helicopter/bumble bee/etc cannot fly.

Someone just much wiser than you/me just needs to tell them so...;p

The Internet is full of Proof [with a capital 'P'] for all sorts of bullshit.

After porn sites it's probably the only reason the Internet exists....;p

Meanwhile...it got down to 26 degrees in Melbourne...last night.  You see, the only part of the planet suffering from Global Warming is all those bits of it NOT populated by people denying its existence.

Can't see it...so can't be happening....;)

Jafo, it's not warmer in your area just because you're old and have a crappy internal thermostat now. :)  Melbourne, like most of the US, was hotter in the 30's and 40's than it has been recently. :)

Psychoak.... I got it wrong....wasn't 26....was 27.7

That was the low reached at 8am ....it was 30 something at midnight.

BTW....we're at the bottom end of Oz.....and the temps are Centigrade, not Fahrenheit.

....and it's not summer.

Hotter in the 30s...40s...?

Here?  In March?  Nope, never.

I guess you've forgotten that we should be cooked by now.  Reality has stubbornly failed to live up to the theory.

Including for AGW.

I didn't use the term "proved" did I?  Believe it was "demonstrated", because proof isn't what's required to doubt the validity of AGW theory.

Feynman:

"It doesn't matter how beautiful your theory is, it doesn't matter how smart you are.  If it doesn't agree with experiment, it's wrong."

"Reality must take precedence over public relations, for nature cannot be fooled."

It do

esn't matter how beautiful your theory is, it doesn't matter how smart you are. If it doesn't agree with experiment, it's wrong.

112 pages and still no substantive facts :)

Lots of opinion though, most of which is 'flaky'...

Absolutely!  If somebody claims that something is so, then the burden of proof is on them.... NOT the disbelievers or laymen, etc.  If, however, a disbeliever or layman refutes the claim, that is valid questioning to push the claimant to prove his/her theory beyond dispute.  It's not up to disbelievers to prove it doesn't exist, they aren't the ones who tabled the theory.

So there, all you global warming theorists and believers, either prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt or shut the fech up. :-" O:)

There, I have spoken!

Yes Virginia, there really is a Santa Clause?

According to your own weather statistics from official sources, Melbourne Australia set many of it's records heat wise in the late 30's, early 40's, including the temperature for March in 1940, which averaged 28.9 centigrade, a temperature five degrees above the norm and only a tenth of a degree short of your current average.  It's a pretty safe bet that you wont be beating it this year, but hey, shit happens and maybe you'll manage it even though March cools as it progresses down under, unlike here where all I have to look forwards to is more fucking heat for the next 7 months...

You did manage to replace the single day record of 41.7, also set in 1940, with a 42.2, so congrats on that.

Edit: Fuzzy, I posted facts frequently, they were simply ignored by anyone that disagreed with them.  I presume the course will stay true, since the ability to self delude even to their detriment is a human trait beyond compare.
