How are Created Factions removed when no longer wanted?
Hi all,
I would like to remove some now unwanted factions that I made when I did not know what was going on. How do I do this?
Cheers

Go to C:\Users\yourusernamehere\Documents\My Games\LegendaryHeroes\Race and delete the XML file with a similar name.
Thank you Heavenfall
STARDOCK This is way to hard Put a "Remove Faction" option in the game.
Cheers
That's been requested by many people for a while now. I don't think they want to do it.
If you re-make the faction with the same name, it actually replaces the old one with the new.
But how often do I want to Overwrite my faction with the name of "Kingdom of Bandits" ? Not even once I presume.
And if you use a different race, and have made any custom units for the first race, you'll have access to units of both races with your new faction of the same name. Lather, rinse and repeat to create a faction with access to units of every race.
If you don't turn off Steam Cloud, all of your deleted files will be added back to your game, so deleting them only works if you do not use Steam Cloud.
This really needs to be fixed, but I've begun to wonder if that's possible.
That is actually a pretty significant.. um .. bug(?).
I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned this, or perhaps that nobody has actually discovered it, but if you right-click the portrait of your created faction in the selection screen it will show a pop-up asking if you are sure you want to delete it. Click yes, and it's gone. I have not seen them re-appear in subsequent loads of the game, so I think it's a lot simpler than any of the information above.
The question is not about deleting custom sovereigns, but the actual custom races you create within the game. There is a difference between the two deletions. Also, when deleting the custom sovereign it only removes them from the screen, it does not remove them from the actual computer.
Thus, they need to adjust that deleting process as the only way is to manually do it in the documents folder.
Ah, I see. How is that a problem, though? The race won't appear in the game without a Sovereign to lead it, and there doesn't seem to be a limit to the number of times you can make a new faction. Is it just the issue with having units from every race if you re-use a faction name? That seems pretty easy to avoid, if so.
True, but does the game load these files into memory... I suspect so and memory is a precious commodity when it comes to the game.
But when you create a new sovereign then you have a series of factions to sift through from all the ones you've created. An adventuresome sort could make 20 factions and now that person has 20 more factions to sift through to find the one they want. Not a very convenient process. Are they going to spend dev time to fix this minor problem... probably not, should they maybe. But the cost benefit is not there I suspect.
The memory part makes sense, but the sifting through 20 factions can be avoided by right-click-deleting the ones you don't want to see. They may still exist in the meat of the game, but they won't clutter the list anymore.
I think you are still looking at the sovereign list and not the race list.
The list the OP is talking about is this one, which you cannot delete nor remove from the list in game.

unless you know of a way of deleting these in game, I would like to know. Even removing them would be nice.
Parrot: I actually never tried rightclicking on the list (because it would not make any kind of sense to me). After trying just now: It does not work. Thanks for the screen.
What parrot said.
you can delete the sovereigns in the character list.
But the kingdom remains selectable if you click left and right in the menu he showed.
