New Mod (WIP)

After learning much from my first mod here is the one I will focus on till true completion 

 

This mod will add a more as it goes along, stuff from the multiverse will be an add-on to this one.

Je travaille sur le même genre de compilation (9 races jouables simultanément) depuis longtemps j'ai commencé sur entrenchment, puis sur diplomacy et maintenant sur rebellion. Pour moi uniquement je ne le diffuserai jamais (trop d'autorisation à demander...). C'est un long et harassant travail mais c'est jouissif de pouvoir mélanger les genres.
Étant donné le nombre de races que tu prévois je conseille de remplacer toutes les textures "-nm.dds" et de les remplacer par une unique texture standard pour tous tes modèles. tu perdras un peu (pas trop) en qualité graphique mais tu y gagneras beaucoup en mémoire.

Given the number of races I recommend that you plan to replace all "-nm.dds" textures and replace them with a single standard texture for your models. you will lose a little (not too much) in graphic quality, but you will earn a lot in memory.

I can't say I'd play as the Galactic Republic, CIS, or Sith Empire in this mod.  I would definitely use the New Republic and Imperial Remnant however.

 

The main reason I decided to kill all the other star wars factions is, they have already been done and the Alliance and Empire have been done twice, plus in all honesty I like the Old Republic Era and Clone Wars era far more than civil war and New Republic.

An old Republic era would be pretty sweet actually, if you can I'd start with something like that or Metroid that hasn't already been done in another mod before.

Most likely the number of races will continue to dwindle as I look at their overall importance and the communities feedback. I really do not know a lot about textures but my limited knowledge says that's a good idea.

Since I already am working on the Ancients and they are near completion code wise anyway I will finish them and then may move from them to the Old Republic Era factions and Metroid.

Like everyone said, this is a fair old task to get 6-9 races into Sins.

It would take the best mod teams on this forum months, to get the correct abilities and game balance and that's assuming that they have permissions to use other peoples ship meshes, textures, sounds, codes etc. I've put 8 races into my mod that had all the ship meshes and textures already created by others. I also borrowed the majority of sounds, game music etc.

I would suggest make your own ship models in you have experience at that and get yourself a team to share the load if that's possible.

Anyway, I really had fun learning to mod and testing in game. Good luck with this.

Hopefully as I get a mod team together, I will be able to create my own assets, though until then I may ask if I can use assets from other mods temporarily to get the mod off the ground.

With regards to Star Wars races; an Old Republic era mod is something many have wanted. I get requests to make one all the time, though it's both outside of my interest and outside of my ability to balance it relative to the mod I'm already working on. If you could make that in and of itself, I can guarantee it will get you a following. Assets for it can also be found without too much difficulty; 7DS has a Leviathan made by Warb_Null, and there are plenty of KotOR models scattered in the EaW mod scene.

I've had a talk with the number 2 of the Sins of the Prophet mod team and their current plan is after they release their UNSC/Covenant beta they'll allow free usage of their models with credit given as long as you don't intend to use them to create a competing Halo mod.  That still might change though, and until they do announce it there's no usage allowed, but I'm just letting you know the possibility exists that you won't need to model the UNSC and Covenant.

Also, 7DS policy is that our homemade assets are free to use with credit given, so if you want to use anything from our mod, go ahead.  This, however, does not extend to the Imperial models, as those were created by others and you would have to ask them about their usage.

Both EJ and Warb have a "free to use with credit given" policy, meaning everything Star Wars currently in SoGE, and by extension 7DS, is open game, with the notable exception of certain Vong units.

Yeah that makes it easier, thought that only knocks off half of the star wars races to do, I may add more.

 

 

I knocked off a bunch of universes as there wouldn't be enough weapon types to go around, as it stands there still might not be enough.

There's two different lasers, railgun, Gauss, plasma, wave, pulse gun, pulse wave, pulse beam, beam, phase cannon, phase missile, missile, flak, autocannon, planet bombardment, ion, point defense, dart, chaosbolt, and psionic surge weapons.  Are you sure you really need more than that?  Keep in mind races can share weapons no problem.

Oh I know, I may add some back, I just don't want to have multiple races using MACs if they aren't supposed to.

You don't need to call it "MAC" though, since you can always generalize and call it "Gauss", assuming more than one race uses Gauss weaponry.

Just to inform everyone the first thing I will release for this mod is the Stargate part that will only have Ancients, Humans and possibly Wraith with one campaign map, I will not discuss the nature of the campaign only that there will be one and it will be Stargate based.

Hey,

Can you guys who are borrowing from SG:TNG (the 303B, the EA-302G, the BC-305, the BC-308, the USS Pillar of Dawn, and the BC-309), please ask permission first? We had to ask and beg for permission to use resources (such as images and the like) to go into that, and if you 'borrow' them without permission, we pay the price. So please stop, it's incredibly uncool, and downright just wrong. You guys can get creative with your own stuff, or ask permission from the creators. For the EA-302G, and the USS Pillar of Dawn, that's me, for the -308, you'd have to ask the creator on Deviant Art, as well as the -309.
