FE is the best game of 2012

I usually lurk. Rarely post. I spent last night and this evening playing this wonderful game.

Truly amazing. Amazing. This game deserves to win game of the year.

Really? It is a good game but "game of the year"? What makes you so impressed?

Pahleeeze! "game of the year"? baw haw haw haw haw hardly. It's got so many bugs and flaws upon release it's funny. Launch issues, crashes galore and so many other points I care not to list. "Game of the year? hahahahahah too funny I had to laugh.

You know what dude, people have the right to voice their opinion.   It's going to be a mixed bag.  I can't name a better game I purchased for the PC in 2012.

Oh please yourself. If the game was buggy, the forum would be full of angry people. Not people proclaiming it as game of the year.

Where are these bugs and crashes you speak of? Looking at your profile, you've made 2 responses. One implying you trash the user reviews and this. Way to contribute.

I can't think of a better game I've played in 2012. Different strokes for different folks.

Not a single crash in my game yet. Game is rock solid. Some bugs, true, but honestly, they are minor.

The game actually is buggy.  We've got quite a few threads pointing them out, and some are relatively important, in the scheme of things.  But there's nothing that takes away from the very strong concept of the game, its good mechanics, and its excellent execution.  I fully expect a lot of them to be fixed within two weeks by Stardock, and we'll probably see workarounds or some fixes in mods before then.

We'll get a few angry people, anyway.  Trolls travel all over these days, looking for a game to fasten on and raise negative emotions over.  But they won't stick.  The game's too good for that.

I honestly think that Warlock - Master of the Arcane is better. It actually achieves what this game was trying to do - interesting combat, the impression that group of heroes goes as company and fights against all odds, and so on. And this is just the game that nearly identical to this one (RPG/Strategy hybrid with magic elements). But also this year we had (what I have on my PC) Guild Wars 2, Diablo III, Torchlight II, and probably some FPS which I do not play. Honestly any of those games are probably better deserved to be called "game of the year".

Good game yes, game of the year - not in my opinion.

Too many other great games out - XCOM, Dishonored, even the Gods + Kings Expansion for Civ 5...

I was hoping for a campaign to grip me... the first three episodes have been RPG lite with no empire building at all... not impressive at all with an overly generic fantasy theme...

Sample quest : "Go here and get me the Shard of Some random Thing, so we can walk into the Temple of Genericness."

Im moving onto the sandbox right away.

I really erally like the game.  I applaud Stardock and Brad for what they've accomplished here, but it isn't really anywhere near the caliber required to win Game of the Year.  4X Strategy Game of the Year, maybe but Game of the Year.  No, I just don't see that.

My wife's grandmother used to say, "Each to their own, said the old lady as she kissed her cow."  I think it applies, here.

Sandbox mode is a blast.

Haven't event tried the campaign. I dont plan 4x games for the developers story (no offense Kael and Frogboy), I play it for my stories.

Kael, this game seems so much like FFH2 given life (and 3D graphics) anew..... any plan on putting the Baron in? Please?

Yes, it is.  Beats the campaign all to hell.

Just as an aside: you're aware that Master of Mana is redoing FFH2, with far better AI?  It's worth checking out.

I've been silently hoping to have Orthus come along and bash my skull in early game.

Elemental is easily my favorite game this year!

I don't know if its the best game of 2012. But considering that "Game of the year" is nothing but a marketing ploy and is given to like half of games released each year.. sure FE can get one.

Thank you for the kind words.

I'd be hard pressed to think of Fallen Enchantress at the same level as XCOM, Torchlight 2, Borderlands 2, Shogun 2, Diablo 3, Dishonored and many of the other excellent games that have come out this year.  I'm glad you guys are liking it so much.

mmm.... interesting.

It needs either Kael or Valk to be FFH IMO... I will look into this.

edit: i've actually already got this mod. Greywarden and Sephi made it if I remember correctly.

It's better than Diablo 3 because honestly that game is a peace of crap but I am impressed at your modesty!

(Xcom is GOTY or co-goty with Dishonored).
