Game seems kinda hard

Watched Das videos and said to myself I wanna try this myself.  Now he played on challenging and I was like well Normal should be ok for start to learn.

Following some of Das same moves I started off well built things up... The problem comes though when the bad guys usually go to war with you they raid your lands... outpost.. Not one turn after my outpost is dead does someone else put up a new outpost in its place.  Don't remember this happening in DAS video at all..

Its almost instant!

And I could not hold off the hoards of guys coming from Kraxis.. The first 2 stacks were fine.. Then the sov hit my capital and game over pretty much.

Plus I ran out of money and gold and everything else.. Seems to me that outpost are way overpowered.. Yeah they are easy to raid.. But if the person putting the outpost up are friendly and instant planting them... Makes the game to annoying.. I know its a beta.. But it seems I played a totally different game then DAS.. His was fun.. My sucked.

The difficulty of this game needs some adjusting, to be sure.  I've had better luck playing on Beginner (after playing on Normal for the most part before the most recent patch), but there's still quite a bit of balance work that needs to be done.

Haha, I have played this game and WoM for a while, but lately, my old tactics aren't working and I am getting crushed, perhaps with just plain bad luck?   Most of the time, I get rolling, and then some huge deadly monster crushed a city or two, and leaves me bait for any Ai that wants to mop up.  Love the challeneg, except I don't see how I can beat a red dragon rampaging through my territory within the first 100 turns...

Edit:  Still stubborn, playing on CHallenging...perhaps I am a normal setting guy now?

The learning curve for the game is extremely high, but once you know a few general tips, you should be set.

Rules are:

1. Level your hero up as fast as you can. If you are a mage, Evoker + Fire destroys everything.

2. Fire > Air > Earth > Water

3. Armor is VERY important.

4. Build troops early, don't wait for economic expansion

5. Don't build cheap troops, they are virtually useless.

6. Don't over extend with your towns/outposts. It is better to have 4 defended towns than 6 undefended ones.

Now granted, there is without a doubt a huge balancing issue based on the above rules.

Outposts (for territory), Evoker (trait), Pillar of Fire, repeat till around 10 health left.

Mop it up with a hero, and it will gain plenty of xp.

Good strat, but I guess the problem is that is so specific that I have to either play play Mag or a custom.  I would hope that the game wouldn't make it, in its final version, so only those evokers with pillar of fire can win.  Either that, or just get lucky that a hoarder spider, red dragon or umberdroth doesn't sit near you.  Yes, those were my last three games.

Don't forget to throw a freeze on there if you have it. Really slows down the rampaging at one move a turn.

Same here... I was playing on Hard, but kept getting whooped.  Now I'm playing on Challenging and had to adjust my strategy to win... maybe I'll be back on Hard soon.

I once beat a drake rush by spending all my mana on using Tremor to hold him in place... for what must have been like 20 turns after he tried to rush me, but hey... dead drake.

Noticed this also in DAS game he was started in the middle of the map inbetween the Kraxis and gang.. And his allies and fellow people.

Two game I played so far I have started in the exact same position right inbetween everyone... For basically your the fodder inbetween the two sides.  And lets not even talk about the monster release when Kraxis and his gang... Or the other side come strolling on by and set off the things on a rampage of hell.

Seems the devs have decided to make the game harder lets just plop the player right between everyone.. That way the player has to be the meat bag.
