Checked out the last preview of IE9 and it's looking pretty good.  Haven't checked out this latest one yet though.  The beta should be out shortly.  The performance stats are impressive so it will be interesting to see how it compares to Chrome and FF in the real world.  I really like Chrome but I make my living in a Microsoft world so IE is a must for me.  :)  Just click the link above to view the article.

Can one revert back to IE8 once one has installed the beta? I know how MS is about "downgrading"

I think I will wait until someone from Stardock identifies that it is compatible with thier stuff before trying it out.  :sun:

LOL  I will try to check into it when the beta is released.  Those tabs bug me too.  I uninstalled the test drive I had loaded.  It does not interfere with or replace IE 8.  It's actually an interactive demo of what's to come.  I suspect things could get pretty buggy with the initial beta though and that most likely will replace IE 8.  Will do some testing and let you all know what happens.  Even if it works badly, we'll all be happy if we can just skin those damned tabs!

It's amazing it took the IE team so long to get back in the game, but I guess thats what happens when you give up on something for a while.

Then again, Microsoft also seemed to value features over performance in the Vista era so it could just be a reflection on that.

Hopefully, they figured out how wrong that is.

I was thinking the same thing! I really don't care what changes they made, as long as I can skin the whole thing!

I believe that IE8 is embedded into win7. so first you need to disable ie8 and then install whatever browser you choose. in other words, I think that regardless of what you do you should be able to get ie8 back by unchecking the control box that you disabled it in.

I think the answer to this question probably won't be known until IE 9 gets released and Stardock has been able to see if WB can skin it in total.  Yes I know they are more than likely working with the beta now but somethink tells me we won't see or hear anything on this for awhile. :sun:

That is fascinating.  Come back when you have something to say about IE9.

OK, it will suck, just like every other version!
End of aunteachrist's quote

In other words you still have nothing to say about IE9.

I think I'm going to take the safe route with this one and let it get out of the Beta phase, then see how it works.

I think it will suck is plenty, but, i am sorry if i offended, Mr. Gates.
End of aunteachrist's quote

Obviously you have not read anything about it or tried it and are making generalizations based on its past performance, which is kinda like if I said Firefox sucks because version 2.0 wasn't all that great, or Steam sucks because it had problems when Half-Life 2 came out.

In other words, you're just trolling.

No, i was making a point that, i, (being me, and not anyone) do not use ie. That is all i was saying, but i guess you wanted read otherwise!

That you had nothing to add to this thread?  Yes, that's exactly what I read.

aunteachrist I think you pretty well established what you think about IE in general.  I hope that you don't mind if some of the rest of think differently. :sun:
