[Suggestion] Advanced search options

I see just the one search box, which seems to be tied into Google.  It would be nice to have some advanced search options.

It should be possible to code this in HTML by just adding some advanced search operators, like site: or intitle:.  It would make the search feature more user-friendly.

I'd really like to see, though, some search options that tie into the unique features of the site, such as karma rating and referrals.  I'd like to sort results by the karma rating of the original poster.  I'd also like to know what threads have been linked by external sites.

I think that's a good idea. Especially to be able to limit the search to a particular sub-forum, or to specify whether to search through the titles only or the contents of the post as well.

We are using Google for our search due to the amount of database load we may receive if we provided a direct site search.  I'm not very happy with the Google search and want to find a more proper solution, but it will take a lot of time and planning to do it right.  With that in mind, I wouldn't expect a proper solution in the near future, but I will spend some time on it to figure out at some point.  

In the meantime, if you know the Google operators you should be able to get to where you want.  I understand that isn't the answer you were looking for, but unfortunately it's the best I can offer at the moment.
