I think it was because Supcom 2 is so... bland. It's meant to be a sequel to a relatively revolutionary game, yet it just seems like a scaled-down version of the first game and its expansion.

"You think wrong. Let me fix that for you."
End of Oatesy03's quote

That would be because it *is* a scaled down, consolized version of the 1st game&expansion.

SupCom was revolutionary in the same way that Total Annihilation and the 1st Command&Conquer games were; they really set the bar for the genre.

But, of course, I'm sure you of all people will agree that Dawn of War is an awesome RTS.

Except for Soulstorm. That didn't go so well. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't exactly good either.

Yep, Dawn of War is really awesome :) Still one of my favorite RTS of all time. I have yet to play DoW 2 though :|

Soulstorm wasn't very good because Relic contracted out the development to a company called Iron Lore. Iron Lore went under shortly after Soulstorm was published, so Relic can't do a lot of patching with Soulstorm (and they wouldn't since DoW2 is their current project), because Relic hasn't got access to any or IL's source code.

But the community has done a lot for Soulstorm.

@morph- Steam has a DoW2 demo; it consists of the first 7 or 8 missions in the SP campaign.

Uhm...yeah when I said that I havent played DoW2, I mean that I havent played the actual game, lol |-)

I have actually played the demo that Steam provides, but thats not saying much for me, besides a glimpse of the game.

It seemed really good, but for me, if I dont play the actual game from the beginning, I cant have a clear picture in my mind.

Well, campaign-wise, DoW2 and the expansion Chaos Rising are pretty solid; while I've never played the CR campaign (despite owning CR; I'm still on the vanilla campaign and unable to finish as my HP fries when playing DoW2 and the Toshiba has lower system specs than the HP (but benefits from superior Japanese engineering) I have it on good authority as being better than DoW2's campaign.

Overall, the DoW titles have usually struggled with the campaign; the exceptions seem to be the 1st DoW title (which has a OMGWTFBBQ awesome campaign), Chaos Rising, and to a lesser extent, DoW2.

Winter Assault's campaign was super-meh, DC's campaign was fun but didn't have the depth and engaging story of the 1st DoW title, and Soulstorm was, well, Soulstorm.

It took DC's metamap campaign (which was pretty good), and made it terribad in the extreme.

MP-wise, I really can't comment; all I've ever done is play MP-style skirmishes against the AI.

However, DoW2 DOES feature a mode called "The Last Stand"; IMO, it has an almost Demigod-like feel, in that it consists of 3 players cooperatively defeating successively more difficult waves of enemies. It's very fun, I've played it quite a bit as the Ork Mekboy hero.

End of Whiskey144's quote

LOL, dude there is no such thing XD

They are all made in countries like Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, etc.

Toshiba makes a few chips, including flash SSDs, common dram memory chips, and a few other not as critical computer chips. (But even then, they are not actually made in Japan.)

But other than that, your laptop is the work of many different vendors.

As for the cooling, Toshiba doesnt do a damn thing.

About DoW2: I might purchase it sometime in the future, because I have no doubt in my mind that its great, but right now I dont feel like playing any RTS game.

Also, its sad that Chaos Rising is an expansion :\ I would love it if they'd made it like DoW: DC, which didnt require the original game to be played.

Oh well, I guess I'll get DoW2 |-)

@morph- Chaos Rising doesn't require DoW2; the only reason you need Dow2 is to:

1. Access the Space Marines, Eldar, Tyranids, and Ork races in multiplayer

2. Access the vanilla campaign.

Other than that, CR is fully stand-alone, a la Dark Crusade.

You said it was an expansion, so I figured.....oh well, it doesnt matter.

P.S. Hmm....I can get DoW 2 for only 10 €, while DoW 2 CR would cost me 19 €.

@morph- I actually would suggest getting DoW2 vanilla first, as you can import your finished campaign from DoW2 into CR.

Also, playing through the DoW2 campaign provides a lot of insight into CR's campaign. Plus, you get DA SPESS MEHREENS in multiplayer if you get the original DoW2 in addition to CR.

BTW DoW2 has some returning characters from Dark Crusade.

We love you Eliphas! :smitten:

Eliphas, the only Chaos Lord in the original DoW games to have some semblance of sanity, and also didn't have a catchphrase.

Bale: SSSIIIINNNDDRIIII!!!!

Crull: Blood for teh Blood God!!!

Carron: METAL BAWKSES!!!

And then there's Eliphas, crying at the incompitence of the legions of Chaos Marines with centuries of combat experience as they are effortlessly mowed down the second they follow the countless squads that have gone before them (one at a time, of course) into an entrenched Imperial Guard Heavy Weapons Team's line of fire. They didn't quite get the durability right on the Space Marines, did they? The AI was a bit stubborn too...

I prefer the human tanks that are the Space Marines of DoW 2 personally, but DoW2 doesn't have the IG playable yet, and is on a smaller scale, so it's a close call as to which is my favourite.

Well, a lot of speculation around the 2nd DoW2 expansion, Retribution, has been going on. And a lot of it seems to point towards the Guard being the new race.

As a bonus though, they have an Ork campaign and an ELDAR CAMPAIGN. Now they just need a Farseer with bewbs.

Yeah, I'll probably get DoW2 first, since you know, 10 € is a good bargain :P

But I have no intention of playing Multiplayer, since I usually suck at these games (RTS). I remember playing SupCom: FA for the first time online, only to get OMGWTF PWNED by an experienced player. RTS games are just not my thing. But I do enjoy playing singleplayer campaigns quite a lot though :)

Shiro, I played 1 game as Trundle, to try him for the first time, and....well I pretty much sucked :(

Went like 5/6/6. I just couldnt hit that damn stone pillar at the right time! X|

And then I had my TF, who feeded like crazy, and Ultied on 4 enemies, going 4v1s and 3v1s, while none of his allies were near.

My Kassadin was uber noob, starting to build AD at the beginning-mid game, and then he went tank build! He actually, had frozen mallet and Banshee's, LOL |-)

Oh well, I guess thats life. Anyway, have you played as trundle at all? What do you think about him?
