Outstanding!! I like what you did with the main view as well. We need to do something with the mini-underground window as well. I did it in an older version but somehow it got reverted back to original vanilla sins.
All in due time. I need to figure out a way that shares buttons and position but the skin can be changed for each race. Now I moved the fed buttons on the bottom bar, all the buttons are moved for all races but using old skin still. I will work on all 5 races bottom bar 1st. Then top bar then underground.
The rename and speed and scuttle buttons will be integrated into the UI. Mouse over will show button highlight and text and needs to be in the same position for each race.
In that world we would be paid and have a nice building to work in and top of the line gear and software to work with.
I would have to say place holder models are a lot higher on the priority list.
A sound added to the ability would work just as good and no need to zoom in to see it. The transport sound would be a good start. I want raw WAV file if anyone can find a good one.
WAV file is the pure form of the recording. MP3 and OGG are compressed so each time you edit the sound and save as OGG it has quality loss. Edit and save as OGG again and the quality loss is x2 and so on. What will be in game will be OGG but if I ever want to edit the sound again I will not use the OGG but the WAV and then save as OGG. Always keep pure forms of images and sounds/music if you plan on editing in the future.
Using voice samples from the show is difficult. Most have music playing in the background and will not be used by me. The best sound bytes are from the ready room meetings which most only have the ships engine hum in the background.
Thats one of the reasons i steered clear from using the actors voice clips, and we went with generic voices. Sure everyone would love to hear picard (and there are some picard clips in here). However the timeline of the mod makes things slightly difficult because it is set almost in the 2390's. Picard, Riker, Worf may have moved on, and/or retired. In Picards case How many 70+ year old starship captains do you know that are still active? Riker could be an Admiral by now (possible faction picture of "admiral riker?).
if we went similar to the all good things episode Worf could be a Klingon Ambassador, or on the High Counsel itself. However current events in the empire would certainly not meet Worfs approval. Especially Martok being killed. So no doubt he would leave starfleet, and lead the fight against the regime of Kodan the Usurper. The proposed Lore would be that after the Borg invasion is thwarted by the four factions (how it is thwarted we still have to make up). General Worf would lead the remnants of the house of Martok, along with all others who opposed Kodan, and rise up against him in yet another bloody Klingon civil war. General Worf would eventually defeat Kodan in a climactic battle that rivaled the songs sung of Khaless, and the Tyrant Molar, With Kodan defeated, and his followers are annihilated. Worf would finally become the Chancellor of the new Klingon High Counsel. (The house of Martok is a faction in the mod)
As the lore states The Romulans may not stop with the defeat of the Borg. They could turn on the Federation, and invade. Despite being in a weakened state, or they can fight amongst themselves to determine if the empire becomes a republic. Similar to the eastern/western roman empire struggles.
The Dominion will be all but shattered by the Borg. After they retreat into the wormhole the remaining cardassian and breen forces are nothing more than armed refugees seeking asylum. (more work needs doing for the lore here).
The Federation will be in a position to assist any faction trying to fight for their freedom
Like i said the Lore is a major WIP. Anything can happen. It is pretty much up to us how the story ends.
Shuttles could be done for the starfleet marines effect or transporters. I prefer a transporter effect, and an effect above the planet similar to advent induce madness except with scenes of starfleet marines fighting. Might be difficult to pull off the particle.
If we got paid for doing this we wouldnt enjoy it as much. We prolly would wind up hating what we do lol

Except Picard is one of Starfleet's most decorated captains (or if he isn't he damn well should be considering all the crap he's been through). Even if he is fit and healthy in his seventies, he's definitely not in command of a single starship any more. Most likely he would be Fleet Admiral Picard.

Picard got sage advice from Kirk on the subject, naturally he'd fight tooth and nail to avoid a promotion.
So where would Picard be in 2390 during the Borg Invasion? Would he still be in command of the Enterprise E (By now the big-E would have been refitted thrice over)? Would he have finally accepted the promotion to Admiral, and command an entire armada instead of just one single ship, or become a Fleet Admiral being that he is a grand strategist, and the best person to coordinate the federations resources in the fight against the Borg. Or would he be retired?
What about Riker? Would he still be a Captain? or would he become an Admiral by now? If so would he resurrect the Enterprise D from Veridian II to become his personal flagship?
What of the rest of the TNG Crew? We already got Worf covered. He becomes a General, and leads the house of Martok vs Kodan the Usurper.

Nah i think Riker would be an Admiral. He got over his lack of ambition by now. Plus he Married Troy in Nemesis remember. I dont think she would cheat on him with another klingon. Nog lacked the lobes to run the Ferengi financial empire. Perhaps he left Starfleet to lead a cultural revolution denouncing capitalism. Later he was captured and executed for collapsing the Ferengi economy, (and for having a very irritating voice.)

ive got a strange thing...
i firstly need to admit that it can be because of me (i really like to adjust the stuff you did with some of my ideas, mainly in research [i dont share my content, if you have problems with that!] )
i get a dmp when i went with my cursor over the maxshipcounter upper-left side.
i have changed the number of maxshipcounter and the research of it to 23 unlockable research stages (7x3 and on 8 just 2) with other numbers (starting on 80 going up to 15000 .. but it takes about 12 hours and huge amount of stuff to get there from stage 1 on) ... in fact it makes it a bit more stategic long time stuff, what i love to play.
could you please give me a hint on how to fix the dmp? ive tried to look up in the brushes but im not into the visual stuff. i think its a matter of the things he wants to show but he cant.
Research visual-sides is working fine.

About the crew to planet effect, what about a transporter effect appears when you use it. A beam out particle effect that goes through the ship model top to bottom when you use it.
Regarding Borg culture, I had an idea but I don't do code so I have no idea what can be done in SOASE.
The culture building is just "building X" to the AI, and the culture research is just "research X" to the AI, so can't we make changes to what the building does, and what the research does? I was thinking of something similar to what it already does like, increasing the "loyalty" on Borg planets. Maybe call it Efficiency. I was hoping their resistance to other culture could be set to 99% and then the culture building could be used to give the Borg bonuses to their own "culture/efficiency." The research could be changed to improve on that concept by boosting how well it works. The Unity has skills that boost their culture so it should be possible to make the research boost their loyalty level.

most details can be done with bump map and texture. Just start with the basic shape. Can always add but reducing is much harder.
The assimilation seams indeed to fast. I had a joined Federation and Klingon fleet assimilated by a Borg fleet in less than five minutes.
It could be cause I added some ideas from the AI improvement discussion. So I added a research, that only the AI can do, which enables building of capital ships with 0 fleet support point requirement. The AI normally builds very little capitals as it builds frigates using all fleet support points. So it seldom gets enough free points to build a capital. By the little trick the AI finally build Capitals and the Borg fleet had a number of them. I would suggest you look to include this into your mod.
Now the Klingon and Federation fleets had also a full set of capitals, which made the Borg incredible strong having three times the capitals a player can support.
In the series the borg seldom assimilate complete ships only crew, even less in full battle. At their first attack on earth, the federation fleet gets all destroyed. Also assimilation is a lengthy process. I only speeds up as the assimilated individuals get added to the attacking borg force (I know they are not very consistent in the stories).
As Sins does not simulate crew (I loved Armada for the Crew and System simulation), I would rater add it as a "self repair" ability. So if a target ship gets "assimilated", have it deactivated or destroyed and restore some of the borg ship hull, shild and antimater points?
Not sure how much can be done in Sins, but the Vasari Starbase has the ability to repair from wreckage. Together with deactivate abilities it should be enough to simulate the borg catching the enemy crew, adding it to their own.
If you still want to have some ships assimilated, It should be an ability with a very very long cooldown that also deactivates the target ship for a long time.
