People are mean

I was just playing in a 3v3 Cataract.  The opposing player had the worst attitude of anybody I have ever played any video game with, ever.  He spent the entire time completely insulting everyone, along with his 2nd teammate.  He kept calling his third teammate a complete retard, saying things like "I think that Ickytotem must have been born in the rivers of a third world country he is so stupid" and "This person lacks an education" and "Dude, do yourself a favor and just return your copy of this game because your horrible" "When your teammate is a complete retard, its gg."

This is NOT good.  People should not be doing this because you don't know the life of the person on the other end of the computer, and you don't know what they have been through.  Just leave if you have such a problem, but relax with the negativity.  There should be an official reputation system so people can rate others.

Trash talking will always have it's place in any kind of online gaming. Deeply personal insults however are a fine line that is hard to see from one side, but glaringly obvious from the other. It's the internet, and I guess I have a thick skin, but its not the end of the world my friend.

Just ignore, and don't feed. It's sad I know but you can meet every kind of person in internet. Put your filter on and ignore.

By the way, Stardock should implement an ignore button so you can squelch the bad guy fast and easy.

If you have a way to get rid of jerks on the internet, congratulations: you are now rich =p

It's a sad state of affairs that competitive anything will, in some people, lead to poor sportsmanship no matter what.  When you add the safety of anonymity from the internet, it can only go downhill.

Best bet is to keep your own blacklist of who to avoid, and friendlist of good players you like to play with.

Wouldn't it be nice though, if a player could be temporarily banned from MP games for a specified period of time. Naturally, this should only happen after carefully reviewing the match logs. The second best option is of course a mute option.

I have a solution. Stop caring.

If you get insulted by random swearing/insults online, the internet is not for you. Grow some skin and get over it. It will never go away and you just sound stupid complaining about it.

Disclaimer: I'm very helpful and friendly to any and all people i meet. In RL and online. This kind of 'boohoo bad words hlep' attitude just pisses me off.

LOL I was in that game on that guy's team. He was an Oak right? I wasn't the one who said the stuff about the third world country or no education or whatever, but I did call him a retard because he was beyond epic fail, he would literally throw himself at the enemy towers and demigods randomly without any forethought whatsoever. At first, it started off with a simple "wtf dont fight 1v3" but he didnt care, he made no attempt whatsoever to run away and escape and fought 1v3 and got raped time and time again, and that kind of stuff is just frustrating.

You have to take into account that games with tons of issues will see more insults generally because people's moods get soured after waiting a long time to get a game going only to have ppl drop, feeders etc.

Also, in our defence, the guy was insulting us too, except he was doing it in allied chat while the other guy was doing it in all chat. His excuse for fighting 1v3 was "u gotta fight and not be a pussy".

I was saying that in response to the original context of when Ickytotem was mentioned.

"I think that Ickytotem must have been born in the rivers of a third world country he is so stupid"

Sounds to me like another party was insulting Ickytotem. Wouldn't that make Ickytotem the target of the insult? Yet you were saying "Ickytotem went down 100 points for me after this post".

Perhaps I misunderstood what you meant by "going down 100 points". 8O

Hi, welcome to the internet.

Yeah i cant feel bad for you. Just grow some skin as someone said ... its random people on the internet ... who cares what they think? I seriously don't think anyone can say a word to offend me online .. so .. learn to quit being so sensitive and just tell the guy "hey fuck you buddaY!" and be on your way. He is no one special lol.

A mute button is really needed, yes.  I just try to ignore people like that usually; just make sure you friend anybody that does'nt act like that, and try to set up games with them.  Like I've written before, new players often think all they get if they die is 30 secs in limbo, so they rush into towers or "bravely" fight 1v3; they don't realize at first they are also giving the other team lots of gold/xp.

Yea its perfectly logical to not realise you're giving away gold when it says at the top of the fu*king screen "So-and-so killed so-and-so (+2500 gold)". Not to mention, just the 30 seconds of being out of the game is providing an advantage to the other team.

Anyone who fights 1v3 and defends their actions deserves to be called a retard, case closed.

how is "stop dying" helpful advice to a new player?

I myself have thick skin. When people start insulting me I just kick their ass in game. Simple solution usually leads to them getting quite peepee hurt and leaving the game and flinging the usual litany of accusatory remarks like " )#@$ hacker " "cheat #%!^!" etc etc. Find a way to get into your opponents head and claim victory.

Also, if they are insulting you in a video game it's a pretty safe bet that they have very low self esteem.

Permit me to state my opinion. The guy who fought 3vs1 has payed just as much money for this game as you have and therefore has the same rights as you to enjoy this game in anyway that he sees fit. And if he/she enjoys the game fighting 1vs3 than let him/her do it and if u enjoy the game playing otherwise then u should go look for people with the same opinions as you on how to play this game and not expecting everybody else to play like you, and when they don“t, call them retards... So may I suggest custom games for you?

I would also like to say that as of now pantheon and skirmish games are more or less to be regarded as singleplayer games with everybody enjoying the game in the way they like. Sometimes one ends up with people that you really play well with, that you can communicate with and that thinks alike. Those games are great and maybe in the future pantheon and skirmish games may have some function as to find players you like to play with.

It was a custom game. So if said player wants to play like a retard, said player should go to single player.

Well, to give some "silver lining"; I just played a 3v3; got into the lobby in seconds; eveyone in the lobby was friendly and funny; had to wait like, 4 mins I think; game was a bit laggy at times, but everyone on both sides joked; gave compliments (or humorous insults), and it was all GG at the end.  So there are plenty of good/nice players out there, I just wish it was easier to friend them, because I can never remember the names of most the people on this game.

On a side note, whats with the "Nerfaneneristis759" type names?  You can't pronounse them (let alone spell them without staring at the name), so friending via memory is pretty tough.
